Will this make people reconsider allowing their teenagers to have the vaccine.
Yes or No?

It’s made me think a lot about it even though my child isn’t old enough to be vaccinated yet. If the times comes I think I will be much more convinced than I maybe was before.

Here’s the study. Not specific to 12-15 year olds but then the US were well ahead of the U.K. in their vaccinations for that age group.

bumbleymummy · 05/10/2021 15:06

Yes, I’ve seen that study before (several times). Starting to wonder if it’s the only one that found this.

And I think age is quite important irt immune response. This study looked at over 18s

Parker231 · 05/10/2021 15:11

As previous posters have said, parents and more importantly children can decide for themselves. Mine are a little older and thankfully both fully vaccinated.

bumbleymummy · 05/10/2021 15:19

Yes. I think it should be an informed decision though, don’t you? And if, as several studies show, the majority of people are protected for 9-12 months after infection then I wonder why a young person/parent of a young person would want to take the additional risk of a vaccine, which is known to have only marginal health benefit compared to risk (JCVI).

Parker231 · 05/10/2021 15:21

I would definitely take the vaccine over Covid.

bumbleymummy · 05/10/2021 15:42

Well, I was talking about people (young people specifically) who have already had covid.

Also worth remembering that COVID is mild or asymptomatic for the majority of people.

Media spin.
Why are they not reporting all the people and children who have either died or suffered life changing injuries after being vaxxed?

They have reported adult deaths, like the BBC presenters.

Maybe there haven't been any child deaths.

Clocktopus · 05/10/2021 17:02

They are reported, the briefest of Google searches will show you that they're reported on.

Another dreadfully sad Covid death of a child.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 06/10/2021 10:12

I haven't seen any reported cases of children who died from the covid vaccine aged 12+. I did have a google. There were some cases in very small children who have been vaccinated in other countries where deaths followed vaccination (I think all under 5) but they haven't determined whether the vaccines played a part yet.

There are thousands of children worldwide who've died of covid. data.unicef.org/topic/child-survival/covid-19/

I'm not pro vaccine to the point of abandoning reason, there is clearly a very small risk of a fatal outcome for some adults with the AZ vaccine, this is now clear (I was aware of this risk when I had my AZ vaccine and decided that the risk of covid was higher to me). However, they're clearly monitoring the vaccines closely (they've also discovered the myocarditis link to the Pfizer) and following up on any adverse reported reactions.

I'd much, much rather we had mask mandates and kept covid levels lower, so it wouldn't matter as much whether people were vaccinated or not. But we're letting covid run out of control (viral dose does matter!) so the vaccines are the only thing people can realistically do to help themselves or protect their family, particularly with kids in school.

I think it is a choice that people should have, there should be clear information about the risks and unknown (as there are with ALL vaccines) and then people should be able to make that choice.

Every time I have a flu vaccination I have to read all about the risk of an anaphylactic reaction. Then give my consent. I don't think the covid vaccine is any different. It's a choice.
