to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

Still horrendous where I am in the south east. Garages empty and when they do have fuel the queues are insane. Impossible to get anywhere by car without taking your life into your hands with cars battering down the wrong side of the road.

I have fuel thankfully but have no idea how long that will last with all the traffic I'm stuck in and the massive detours I'm taking to miss out 2 hour queues. I need my car due to my job as I'm a childminder with multiple pick ups, it's impossible to do by public transport. I use a lot of very rural roads and it would take me hours to get to each place by foot never mind the 5 young children with me.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/09/2021 20:11

Black Country - all garages I've gone past today are open with no queues. There were queues yesterday but seems to have died down today.

Wakemeuuuup · 30/09/2021 20:11

Still chaos in NW London. Queues are huge and stations keep running out of fuel

Sarah2384 · 30/09/2021 20:12

Still issues here. London. Nearest petrol station had fuel delivery this AM, queues all day and had sold out by 3pm

rainbowandglitter · 30/09/2021 20:13

Still issues here in East Anglia

LemonRedwood · 30/09/2021 20:18

Still issues where I am in West Herts. Three petrol stations that are closest to me are still closed. I haven't ventured further.

MistandMud · 30/09/2021 20:20

Those who are down to their final couple of miles in the tank -- can you ring round a few stations and check before you set off?

CosmicComfort · 30/09/2021 20:22

South coast here, still a nightmare!

I queued for at least 30 mins yesterday to get 300 meters to the petrol station opposite work. That was the first fuel station I had actually seen with fuel for days. I had to leave work in the middle of my shift to fill up! I’m a nurse and I was very fortunate I was able to take the time.

Traffic is horrendous everywhere due to queues for fuel, people are late for work due to the traffic, canceling shifts due to lack of fuel, it’s awful….

Flakjacketon · 30/09/2021 20:22

I'm in rural East of England, I have tried not to panic buy but today I really needed fuel. I tried 4 garages they had nothing. I even went to a service station on the A1 - it had petrol but not the diesel I need. Unless the garage down the road has fuel tomorrow I can't leave home other than on foot or by bike.

I am also due to go on holiday on Saturday - not looking promising

Jellybean81 · 30/09/2021 20:22

No petrol to be had in my bit of south east London

nannynick · 30/09/2021 20:26

My local fuel station posted on FB at around 7pm saying they were now out of everything, no idea when next delivery would be. Surrey/Berkshire border.

Floralnomad · 30/09/2021 20:28

I’m SE and live near a Tesco garage / store , it’s been completely ridiculous , fortunately they ran out of fuel mid morning today so we can get in and out of our road without doing a massive detour or sitting in a huge queue .

ancientgran · 30/09/2021 20:30

Seems OK here, SW. There were quite a few filling up at stations we passed but the busiest had 2 or 3 cars waiting for a free pump so not bad.

Goldenbear · 30/09/2021 20:32

No luck local to me - I am in sussex! It is not really a surprise that the south east has run out as the population is very much bigger than Cornwall!! It is a misconception from those who don't live here that we have amazing public transport- if you want to go to a neighbouring county for work and be back in time for school collection, it is not possible within that timeframe and the rural bus routes take too long! The train the stops at Sussex uni campus was packed full of students as the buses have been stuck in endless congestion.

Goldenbear · 30/09/2021 20:33

I went by train in the end which is fine in theory but I can't complete my working hours in that timeframe.

MrsCremuel · 30/09/2021 20:38

Queues, limits and closed petrol stations in Kent.

TurquoiseDragon · 30/09/2021 20:40

By the time I'd heard that we'd got panic buying on fuel, I was already down to the warning light and the town was dry. So, car was parked and I walked everywhere, feeling grateful I was able to wfh.

Our local Tesco are now getting a delivery every day for now, and the first few days I didn't bother trying as my DB was letting me know the queues were horrendous. I made the attempt today, and got fuel, the queue was only about 10-15 cars at that point. Other suppliers were also getting some fuel in, by the looks of things.

I don't know whether this is the end of it for now, I'm just grateful I have fuel in case Dad has to go to hospital, he's not well at present.

Sprogonthetyne · 30/09/2021 20:50

Everything seems normal here (north east) and has for a few days. Haven't seen ques since the weekend, and even then it was 5/6 car's waiting on the forecourt, not the gridlock causing roads full of ques, some people were reporting.

CaptainChannel · 30/09/2021 20:54

definitely not normal in my part of Sussex. I have resisted panic buying but now I actually need some. Passed 5 garages on the way home and none had any fuel. Now I'm preparing to get up at stupid o clock to try and get some before work. Yay.

bigbluebus · 30/09/2021 21:04

I live in Shropshire and apart from a few queues last Friday/weekend there's been no problem around my area. I put petrol in on Tuesday and there was no queue although there only seemed to be one pump with diesel. I drove past another petrol station where it was busy but queue wasn't onto the road. The 3rd petrol station in the town definitely had fuel - it was on the BBC with Phil McCann!
Yesterday I popped to Tesco Extra - the queue for petrol was at normal levels.

Autumngoldleaf · 30/09/2021 21:10

Just shows how absolutely full to the gunnels the South is really.

Beachhuts90 · 01/10/2021 07:00

It's awful near me. I take the bus to work, the first service of the day, and was only at work a few minutes ahead of the children (I teach). The bus route goes by several petrol stations so the queuing is the issue. People shouldn't be allowed to queue down the road.

Cherrysoup · 01/10/2021 07:17

No fuel in my area of north London. I think the little Tesco garage might have had fuel as the queue of traffic was bonkers, so I went the other way home, which was also insane, ended up going a very circuitous route. I’m on half a tank thanks to my dh queuing for me but it won’t last long given the commute to work/horse.

Bedsheets4knickers · 01/10/2021 07:17

Ignore my previous message . Absolute murder leaving work this morning x

JustSinginInTheRain · 01/10/2021 07:21

Our local garage has no fuel.

Daughter is a teacher and can make it to school and back today. Then she is stuck if she can't get any this weekend.
