Accidentally filled up a full tank!

So annoyed with myself! I waited in the queue for ages, I was going to fill up £40 worth. Very hard to get hold of diesel, most places don't have it in my area except 2 petrol station.
There was a car infront of me so when I was filling up I couldn't see the screen where it would show how much is going in! I was trying to guess it and on top of that had my child in the car crying, not to mention the countless cars behind that are glaring!
To my horror I only went and filled up £70! I don't even need thAt much. Really annoyed with myself and hope I've not cost anyone to go without fuel!!

I don’t know why you’d even bother posting this.

Chailatteplease · 28/09/2021 22:27

I always fill up a full tank, to save doing more trips. Would probably have done the same today if I could be bothered to queue. No biggie OP 🤷‍♀️

LegoSteppingStones · 28/09/2021 22:31

I vaguely remember when fuel was about 50p a litre.

Suitcaseseverywhere · 28/09/2021 22:32

I remember fuel being 90p a gallon.

CandyLeBonBon · 28/09/2021 22:37

@Suitcaseseverywhere

I remember fuel being 90p a gallon.
I remember fuel going up to 75p a gallon and my Nan having apoplexy!
DoofusRick · 28/09/2021 22:38

What responses were you hoping for, op?

Cocomarine · 28/09/2021 22:42

My you’re the stroppy one aren’t you!

Piss off? 🤣

PP nailed it on the first page - stealth brag about how virtuous you are.

🥇 for you!

Strawbsaturno · 28/09/2021 22:52

5/10 for the diagram OP (mainly because you still did one in the middle of a flounce)

tedsletterofthelaw · 28/09/2021 22:53

Bloody hell.

Bet you snuck unessential items into your trolley last year too didn't you?

Seriously though, you went to a petrol station and filled up. It's no big deal, even if there is supposed to be a cap. Least you weren't going back and forth with Jerry cans like some of the people I've seen!!

Percypigg · 28/09/2021 23:14

Why do you think anyone cares?

Sh05 · 28/09/2021 23:42

Yeah right!

heyworld · 30/09/2021 11:40

@Dontcryfomeargentina and that's why I was shocked! I wasn't stood there just filling away, I was only there for a very short period of time as my child was crying, so couldn't believe how I managed to put in a full tanks worth.

Normally I always fill up when I go to a petrol station

Not yet had the misery of going to queue for petrol

But I would want to fill up purely so that I don't need to come back again & queue all over again!

I know some people go to top up with half or quarter tank, don't understand this at all unless you're going on a long drive somewhere!

MissMaple82 · 02/10/2021 19:08

How the feck do you not see the screen.. I dont believe you couldn't see. This is a very odd thing to post

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2021 19:10

your tiny little heads

I've actually got a freakishly large head. I can't buy hats.

However I forgive you because I love MN diagrams so much.

Karleeb30 · 02/10/2021 19:13

Oh god, I wouldn't worry about it. If the station had no limit then I wouldn't care less. Can't change it now and means likely more time until you need to fill again. You need it, you need it.

Where I live no one is panic buying anymore.

I had half a tank left this morning and topped up today (only cost £25 in my car for half a tank). The petrol station had no queue so I took the opportunity. I have so many places I need to get to this week. I use half a tank a week anyway so if I didn't do it today, I would have had to put some in in a few days.

Sofiegiraffe · 02/10/2021 19:26

This thread is funny. Grin

On a side note ... I didn't think £70 for a full tank was particularly a lot. My car costs £50-60 to fill from empty and my partner filled his up the other day and it came to £80 😳 Do we just need cheaper cars?! 🤔

A new flavour of virtue signalling. Thank fuck we've been back to normal here since Wednesday.
