Accidentally filled up a full tank!

So annoyed with myself! I waited in the queue for ages, I was going to fill up £40 worth. Very hard to get hold of diesel, most places don't have it in my area except 2 petrol station.
There was a car infront of me so when I was filling up I couldn't see the screen where it would show how much is going in! I was trying to guess it and on top of that had my child in the car crying, not to mention the countless cars behind that are glaring!
To my horror I only went and filled up £70! I don't even need thAt much. Really annoyed with myself and hope I've not cost anyone to go without fuel!!

@heyworld

Wow aren't you all so funny with your boring lives. Piss off

I don't know why it's so
Hard for a lot of you to grasp why I couldn't see the screen!! I couldn't go any further because of the car in front, was I supposed to just crash in to it and force it forward. Are you all even aware where the cap fuel is, at the far end of the car, so am away from the screen.
Also where in my post did I say am filling my tank which is half full, rather stupid thing to do if I don't need it, I was running on reserve so I did need to fuel up but didn't need a full tank, why you---- mumsnetters can't fathom that in your tiny little heads, I will never know.

Well that escalated quickly! 🍿
YourFinestPantaloons · 28/09/2021 21:47

Not really buying the "gosh darnit" act TBH

heyworld · 28/09/2021 21:48

Yes go ahead, laugh at my expense. This is not the usual place I fill up at.

Accidentally filled up a full tank!

This post started off seeming sweet and genuine, but your most recent response is slightly odd to say the least. Why so defensive when you can't do anything about it now..?!

YourFinestPantaloons · 28/09/2021 21:50

Why didn't you just wait until the car moved? Not sure why you are being so pissy though - what replies did you expect?

Cracking diagram though!

drumandthebass · 28/09/2021 21:51

You said you accidentally filled up a full tank, which you can't fill up an already full tank. What you meant was you accidentally filled up a tank.

Maybe if you explained yourself properly us mumsnetters with our "tiny little heads" wouldn't be questioning you

WishingYouAMerryChristmasToo · 28/09/2021 21:52

I don’t get any of it. I’ve always been able to see the screen whilst I fill up. Most tanks don’t even take £70 of fuel. Is this a wind up?

Daphnise · 28/09/2021 21:52

Next time buy a car that takes £150.

Ibizafun · 28/09/2021 21:53

Not sure why you even posted? Just why?

Frazzled2207 · 28/09/2021 21:53

@Daphnise

Next time buy a car that takes £150.
or buy an EV so you don't have to worry about filling it up ever again.
LimitIsUp · 28/09/2021 21:53

What a little charmer you are OP

Dontcryfomeargentina · 28/09/2021 21:53

Bollocks

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 28/09/2021 21:55

Quelle horreur!

At least you won't have to queue again in a few days

Dontcryfomeargentina · 28/09/2021 21:59

Did you get your child to draw the diagram. Filling up a gaz guzzle with £70 would take quite a while.
You knew EXACTLY what you were doing.
Back to my nothing life now.
As you were. Grin

ShinyThingsDistractMe · 28/09/2021 22:01

I could never fill up not seeing the screen, I like to challenge myself by stopping at the zero pence mark 🤣

Rules of the game no slowing down and pulling the trigger bit by bit. You just have to fill at full gusto and then ping the trigger off at the right time.

I'm sad I know.

Onelifeonly · 28/09/2021 22:02

Well OP, ypu are probably the only person in the queue who was angry about getting too much petrol. Everyone else will be happy they filled up.

Bluntness100 · 28/09/2021 22:02

Wow. This ain’t normal.

Confused
Porfre · 28/09/2021 22:05

@Sirzy

Nope still not getting how you have managed to position the car at a free pump and yet not been able to see the screen. In many many years of filling cars with fuel (all with the fuel cap at the back of the car) I have never been unable to see the display.
I'm embarrassed to say, it happens to me frequently if I dont park far enough forward. Dpending on the position of the pumps. It's one specific petrol station where it's worse. They have a diesel pump then behjng jt the unleaded. There is 2 displays one on the diesel and another on the unleaded. I always park in the .middle so not forward enough to see the display on the diesel pump.
cricketmum84 · 28/09/2021 22:06

You're not even getting points for the diagram as that is terrible.

LegoSteppingStones · 28/09/2021 22:06

Always searching under the seats for that extra 1p Grin

But £30 extra "accidentally" Hmm

HalzTangz · 28/09/2021 22:08

So basically you came on to float how you got £70 worth of fuel (that you admitted you didn't need) whilst others can't get any at all.

Singlebutmarried · 28/09/2021 22:14

There’s a £40 limit (and no container rule) at our local one.

I managed to stop at £40.09. I could see the screen but clearly my brain didn’t send the signal to my hand quick enough. Plus I was perched on the lorry diesel pump thing so it was all a bit precarious.

HalzTangz · 28/09/2021 22:14

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby

I'm filling mine up to full on Friday, and no it's not being selfish! I travel up to 60 miles a days doing my job. I do not need the stress I had the other day of trying to get to my calls with nothing in my fuel tank
The difference is you need it for work, whereas the OP didn't (she said £40 was all she needed), so she basically took a tank of fuel that someone who does need it now won't get
Againstmachine · 28/09/2021 22:15

If you can't see the screen and then complain you are a ln idiot simple as, now stop talking crap and trolling.

I assume this comment is also a joke if you can’t see the difference between: “accidentally filled up a full tank” VS “accidentally completely filled up an empty tank” (which is still not great but what you meant) And why 50 comments are misunderstanding the situation because you chose the first as your thread title when it should have been the second, according to this comment.

I was going to explain sentence structure but what the fuck’s the point. Just… good Lord, don’t insult people’s tiny little heads when you can’t structure a sentence. The whole situation is a hot mess. Hotter than if you lit some of that extra fuel you took on fire.
