Accidentally filled up a full tank!

So annoyed with myself! I waited in the queue for ages, I was going to fill up £40 worth. Very hard to get hold of diesel, most places don't have it in my area except 2 petrol station.
There was a car infront of me so when I was filling up I couldn't see the screen where it would show how much is going in! I was trying to guess it and on top of that had my child in the car crying, not to mention the countless cars behind that are glaring!
To my horror I only went and filled up £70! I don't even need thAt much. Really annoyed with myself and hope I've not cost anyone to go without fuel!!

Stop being so dramatic

oakleaffy · 28/09/2021 14:07

Surely filling an already full tank would lead to an overflow…Simple laws of Physics.
A joke thread.

BigPyjamas · 28/09/2021 14:07

We need a diagram

dmudbur · 28/09/2021 14:07

Surely it's better to fill up so you're not sitting in queues more often?

riotlady · 28/09/2021 14:07

Are you the same poster who was crippled with guilt because they got a free bag of meat with their shopping delivery?

SunshineCake1 · 28/09/2021 14:08

What are you missing in your life for you to want God knows what from strangers about this?

mocah · 28/09/2021 14:08

@TheGrumpyGoat

What part are you asking if you’ve been unreasonable about? Or is it a stealth brag about how virtuous you were planning to be?
Grin more likely!
TuftyMarmoset · 28/09/2021 14:09

Well at least you presumably filled up with the right type of fuel. I read in the Guardian that 5x as many people as usual are filling up with the wrong fuel so the AA is having to come and drain all their tanks, wasting fuel and making queues worse 🤦‍♀️

How thick can you get?
SecretWitch · 28/09/2021 14:10

You must immediately return to station and return it or log it with police.
Btw, do you or do you not own a toilet brush?

iwantavuvezela · 28/09/2021 14:11

@riotlady that made me laugh!

Mayorquimby2 · 28/09/2021 14:11

Fuck

Do you think you'll be able to pop out and get a hair shirt later?

bringincrazyback · 28/09/2021 14:12

What a bitchy thread. (I don't mean the humorous replies.)

Mossstitch · 28/09/2021 14:12

If everybody filled up the queues would subside! Only allowing a small amount is the problem as then they need to join a queue sooner🤦

daisyjgrey · 28/09/2021 14:13

Do you happen to also cry when looking at statues?

ilovesooty · 28/09/2021 14:14

I'm sure anyone having to budget would ensure they could see the screen.

mindutopia · 28/09/2021 14:14

I just went and got a full tank. I did exactly what I'd always do. I didn't panic buy at the weekend. I drove my car as normal until the light came on and then I went and filled up. Our petrol station is only allowing max £30 on standard grades, so I filled it up with premium (which oddly came to about the same price as it always does!). Now I won't need to go again for a few more weeks as always. I think it's the people filling up 10 jerry cans and the people constantly queuing every other day and filling up tiny amounts that are causing so much chaos. If everyone just behaved normally, it would make things all a lot easier for everyone.

Lilybow · 28/09/2021 14:14

Stop worrying

Watchingyou2sleezes · 28/09/2021 14:16

Caaaaaaaaannntt.

Strawbsaturno · 28/09/2021 14:17

If I’ve learned anything about the panic buying over the last year and a half it’s….. if you can’t beat em join em.
Seriously there’s no point martyring yourself… my DH did, and was driving around on fumes at 11.30 last night looking for petrol, worrying if he could work tomorrow.

Strawbsaturno · 28/09/2021 14:17

Fuck

🤣
thinkbiglittleone · 28/09/2021 14:18

Of course you are being unreasonable...you must cut some of your hose pipe off, syphon your tank to about half then go in search for a diesel needing member of the public Shock

Or just go about your day with your diesel.

Also how does someone block you from seeing your metre ?

Mrsjayy · 28/09/2021 14:19

I suggest you syphon it off and give it for free on Facebook somebodywill use it , its the right thing to do 😁

cricketmum84 · 28/09/2021 14:20

But they are telling us to "fill up as normal"

So if you usually filled the tank then you are just doing what you normally do rather than the sheep who are topping up by a tenner every day and causing the queues. And by buying £70 of fuel you aren't going to have to go join that queue again for what 2 weeks? By which time everyone will have chilled the fuck out a bit.

But also I think you need to calm down a bit. It's the idiots going every day that are causing the problem.

BecauseMyRingBurnsSheila · 28/09/2021 14:20

I read that and thought 'you've been sitting in a queue for 5/10/30+ minutes but as soon as you get to the front of the queue you forget what fuel your car takes??'

Reminds me of people queuing with a number of items but don't bother even starting to get their purse out before the shop assistant tells them the total. It was never going to be free so why haven't you got your purse out ready to pay??
