Accidentally filled up a full tank!

So annoyed with myself! I waited in the queue for ages, I was going to fill up £40 worth. Very hard to get hold of diesel, most places don't have it in my area except 2 petrol station.
There was a car infront of me so when I was filling up I couldn't see the screen where it would show how much is going in! I was trying to guess it and on top of that had my child in the car crying, not to mention the countless cars behind that are glaring!
To my horror I only went and filled up £70! I don't even need thAt much. Really annoyed with myself and hope I've not cost anyone to go without fuel!!

I only ever get a full tank. I fill up when my petrol light comes on, so isn't that a quarter tank? I would do the same now. The problem has been caused by people topping up £20 who have been nowhere near empty, "just in case." They're the idiots, not you, OP.

Hmm
BlakeDreary · 28/09/2021 14:58

Biscuit I wish there were more superheroes like you in the World.

Jaguar77 · 28/09/2021 14:59

The pump clicks to a stop when the tank is full.
Hope that helps

M4J4 · 28/09/2021 14:59

What self-flagellating, virtue-signalling crap.

I happily filled my empty tank this morning, no fucks were given.

clarkkentsglasses · 28/09/2021 15:01

On the glue OP?

icedcoffees · 28/09/2021 15:02

@thinkbiglittleone

I seen people out filling Jerry cans by us, I am baffled by such ridiculous people.
Well, I know lots of people here have run out of fuel completely, so others are having to go and get fuel in jerry cans for them so they can get to work/school.
KentuckyCriedFricken · 28/09/2021 15:06

Either a stealth boast about how big and (probably) expensive her car is (anything that takes 70 quid to fill is going to be a vehicle of some size and power) or virtue signaling.

MyPatronusIsACat · 28/09/2021 15:07

@heyworld No more posts from you eh? Confused

Bet this thread didn't go the way the wanted it to eh? Grin No-one is attacking anyone, and people aren't arguing.

Everyone knows no-one is daft enough to fill up their tank 'accidentally' and FFS who cares if you did anyway? Most pointless thread of the month!

Ibelieveinghosts · 28/09/2021 15:12

If you feel that bad about your mistake you could always walk bare foot through the streets of Canterbury and get flogged by monks in the crypt!
...or just move on.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 28/09/2021 15:13

The only unreasonable part is that people in the UK think spending £70 on a tank full of gas is normal!

TooMuchPaper · 28/09/2021 15:13

I'm assuming that the op is on the wind up!

Brokeandtired3 · 28/09/2021 15:14

This is got to be the biggest wind up thread of them all.

Dont bother replying people I highly doubt the op will be back. They just did this to piss people off then went about their happy day

OP must have a really boring life then.
lovemelongtime · 28/09/2021 15:22

For real ?? is this really worth the effort of typing

Stormsy · 28/09/2021 15:29

You couldn't see the screen because there was a car in front of you? Never had that issue at any garage myself, all the ones I've been too have the screen/total showing right next to you Confused

LOL this. ^ I bet the OP is disappointed though, coz the thread is a damp squib. Grin
ghostyslovesheets · 28/09/2021 15:38

oh I think this thread was worth it for the 'hair shirt' comeback - that made my day!

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/09/2021 15:46

How do you accidentally fill your tank to the tune of £70?

Chelsea tractor?

This thread is bonkers.

Batshittery · 28/09/2021 15:46

The thread was dull enough if it was true. Double dull if made up

Joystir59 · 28/09/2021 15:54

And your issue is?

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 28/09/2021 15:57

If your tank was full, unless you pissed it all over the garage forecourt, you didn’t accidentally put any more in.
Unless you meant something else.

Nocutenamesleft · 28/09/2021 16:02

I filled up two cars the night before it all hit.

And?

daytripper28 · 28/09/2021 16:03

Never had that issue at any garage myself, all the ones I've been too have the screen/total showing right next to you

Is that because maybe the OP is talking a load of bollocks?

Surely not - Mumsnetters are always so sincere.

StormyTeacups · 28/09/2021 16:04

I filled our van up the other day, and it cost in excess of £100. Bet you're all jealous now.
