To think this guy leaving me money is so strange?

Was out last night and met a guy, brought him home and had a one night stand. Had a good night and he left this morning, I then went to work. When I got home I noticed there is a twenty pound note on the side he was 'sleeping'. He obviously does not think I'm a prostitute but why in the hell would he leave that?

AIBU to think this is very very strange?

Probably left it by mistake and has spent the day wondering where his £20 is. Or maybe he found it on the bedroom floor and just left it there. I wouldn't assume it was anything related to paying you for your services.

Batshitkerazy · 27/09/2021 18:12

It really wouldn’t cross my mind that it was payment for sex! He probably just forgot to take it

LittleGwyneth · 27/09/2021 18:12

@DumplingsAndStew my partner leaves money lying around the house, yes. He takes things out of his pocket, puts them down, and then leaves them there. Not exactly a high crime, even on Mumsnet.

Notaroadrunner · 27/09/2021 18:13

Or maybe he's looking for an excuse to see you again so figured if he left something you'd contact him to collect it.

Plumtree391 · 27/09/2021 18:13

I doubt he thinks you're a prostitute if he left £20, I imagine he just emptied his pocket and put the money on the side, then didn't take it all afterwards.

I mean, who would sell themselves for £20, honestly?

KurtWilde · 27/09/2021 18:14

A full night with a sex worker is at least £600 and depending on how popular they are they can charge up to £1000.

I couldn't not text tbh, regardless of what his response is I'd rather know if he was a twat or had just taken it out of his pocket and forgotten it.

VaguelyInteresting · 27/09/2021 18:14

Also- good for you re: the shag, regardless of the £20. I miss ONSs.

Summerfun54321 · 27/09/2021 18:14

Are you 100% sure it’s not actually yours that’s fallen out of your wallet or pocket?! He could have seen it and wasn’t sure if it was his so didn’t take it just in case. So many possibilities…

LittleGwyneth · 27/09/2021 18:15

I realise £20 is a lot to some people but it's also pretty negligible if you're earning a decent whack and you don't have any dependants. I find cash in old handbags and coats all the time, and I've never realised I'm short. People are acting like he left a grand on your bedside table and then didn't think to look for it.

namechangetheworld · 27/09/2021 18:16

I must lead a very sheltered life. This very far fetched prostitute stuff would never have even crossed my mind. I would simply assume he left it by mistake or mistakenly thought that he owed you for drinks.

I'd spend it on a massive box of chocolates for myself and forget all about it. And if he asks, claim ignorance!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/09/2021 18:16

I doubt it was an insult, if you didn't get any weirdo vibes from him.

Maybe he blocked your loo, hasn't told you, and left money out of guilt?!

neeenor · 27/09/2021 18:16

Did you pay for the taxi home or similar?

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2021 18:17

He probably found you money somewhere, maybe it had fallen under the bed? He may just have picked it up and put it there. Ridiculous to imagine it is him paying for sex.

OlympicProcrastinator · 27/09/2021 18:17

I would just text “£20?” and see what his response is. You’ve nothing to lose

Aside from your dignity.

Theendoftheworldisnigh · 27/09/2021 18:18

I'll be very surprised if it wasn't an insult. He's telling you that he sees you as a cheap prostitute. He probably gets off on doing this to women

Dare I ask how you know this...?

Clearly, I am in the wrong profession.
peboh · 27/09/2021 18:20

Are you sure it wasn't money you'd dropped on the floor or something? I've always got random cash around my house I literally wouldn't think anything of it.

ShuddaBeenMe · 27/09/2021 18:20

I would ask him

OuiOuiBonjour · 27/09/2021 18:21

"Hi, you've accidentally left £20 at mine. I can bank transfer you it if you send the details. Wouldn't want you to be short or think I was a thief lol."

And see what he says.

Justmuddlingalong · 27/09/2021 18:22

I'd hand it to him in person if I ever bumped into him. I wouldn't go to any bother contacting him to return it.

Potteringshed · 27/09/2021 18:22

I'd assume accident. It's the simplest and most obvious solution. And if you're not planning on seeing him again, then leave it and don't over think it maybe?

I would have thought he'd seen the £20 on the floor and put it up where you would find it

CandyLeBonBon · 27/09/2021 18:26

Maybe it's the equivalent of leaving a 'tip'. Perhaps you should check trip advisor and see if he's left a review!!! 😂

Sorry op - what a strange thing to do? I must admit it made me feel a bit uneasy to read. It does seem a bit off.
