What to do about dog poo woman?

There is a tiny elderly woman who walks her dogs past my house every morning. She’s quite well known due to the fact that she’s about 4ft and walks two giant Irish wolfhounds that are 3 times the size of her. Problem is she doesn’t pick up their shit. The dogs often poo right outside my house. I went out to speak to her last week and asked her nicely if she would mind picking up the dog poo and she smiled sweetly and said “I’m 86 dear, if I bent down there I’d never get back up again!” and walked off.
Anyway there was a post on the neighbourhood Facebook page about people leaving dog poo so I replied saying about this lady and was told I was out of order as she’s so elderly!?

WIBU to mention it or even approach her??

How can she look after her dogs if she can’t bend down? How does she feed them ? How can she have control over her dogs if she is not fit enough to bend? Absolute rubbish, if you own a dog pick up your dogs mess, simple

I’ve got a dog and the one thing I absolutely loath is dog shit. I am fanatical about making sure I pick it up as there is nothing worse that stepping on it. It pisses me off to no end when I find the stuff lying around on grass or the street.

If this old lady can’t pick up her dog shit (and you can be sure it there will be masses of it) then she shouldn’t have dogs full stop. She uses her age as an excuse for her laziness. Absolutely selfish.

Report her if she can't clean up then her dogs need to go she can't look after them.
She must of been mid to late 70's when she got them totally irresponsible of her her fault entirely .
There is no way on this earth she could be in control of them she a danger to herself and others .

Victamizing a little old lady?! I believe the elderly deserve our respect - but occasionally, let's be on honest, you come across an elderly dick head. Dickheads grow old too, they don't suddenly transform into sweet ol' Gam Gam. They just become wrinkly dickheads

This woman did not apologise profusely and explain that unfortunately she has mobility issues which make it difficult. She smiled, made a joke and left without any kind of apology whatsoever. She has an attitude problem.

If she can't bend down how the fuck is she looking after 2 massive dogs? Be kind my arse. This happened to my neighbour. She eventually bagged a weeks worth of dog shit up and posted it through the woman's letterbox along with 100 poo bags. We never saw her again

Take photographs. Tell her that it's the law (she may not know) and that if she can't do it she needs to employ a dog Walker or loose the dogs.

Why should the OP help her? This lady isn’t doing anything to help the OP and is happy for her dogs to shit everywhere. I think a phone call to the dog warden or police non emergency line is in order. You’ve tried being nice about it so you need to take the next step.

Regardless of her age, she should take full responsibility for these animals. It is her choice to be a dog owner. If she can’t do it, then she should employ a dog walker who can. I too would speak to the community officer.

Or just buy some poo bags, and be kind, and go and help her out on the occasion they poo outside your house? I imagine that the dogs are very important to her, and reporting an 86 year old woman to the dog warden, with the stress this could cause her, sounds awful!! No, it’s not your job, but would take seconds out of your day??
What a gullible response. You honestly believe this lady can manage all the other aspects of looking after 2 large dogs, just not the poo bit? And what about the long-handled scoops pps have mentioned, why doesn’t she just use one of those?

She needs to find ways to look after her dogs which don’t involve leaving piles of shit everywhere. There would appear to be a really easy way to do this which she is not bothering with. No sympathy whatsoever. And I don’t believe any true dog lover would think this is ok either, as if she genuinely can’t manage the poo then surely the dogs can’t be being looked after properly in other ways.
