To think the fact that non-vaccinated people will now have to isolate from all non-red countries has been hidden in the small print

I’m pretty sure today’s travel announcement means that if you’re not vaccinated then you must self isolate for 10 days and take day 2 and 8 tests (can still test to release) from all countries outside of the red list

This means that non-vaccinated people going to what are currently green countries who thought they wouldn’t have to isolate, now will if they return after 4th October

Rainbowqueeen · 17/09/2021 20:33

Many green countries don’t want unvaccinated people to visit. It’s another way of screening people so they don’t go
It also protects the NHS.

I’m shocked that people didn’t see this coming.

Butterflyfluff · 17/09/2021 20:35

@DeepaBeesKit

Well you could be bullshitting. That'd be one way.
Would you like me to send you my vaccination card? 🤔

Please can someone share a link with where it says this - I can't see it online?

How do you prove it works ? I've not had covid but i've not had honey , lemon and garlic daily either.

Geamhradh · 17/09/2021 20:37

@Butterflyfluff

Ok, I accept that those who don’t take the vaccine use up medical resources

But I still don’t see how they are any more of a danger in terms of passing on the virus to others

Try reading the links that people far more patient than me have posted for you? Or read the eleventy billion threads with similar links in the Coronavirus topic.

If you (clearly) don't think the vaccine is worth it, why did you have it?

Indeed!

ilovesooty · 17/09/2021 20:38

I certainly hope she isn't in a hospital near me.

Sugarandtime · 17/09/2021 20:39

And yet another thread ruined by a poster like Ilovesotty using the nasty terms such as antivax.
Why do you people have so much anger. If you disagree with something, fine, we all disagree with different things but why do you have to be so unpleasant with your name calling and comments.

Because they are much more likely to have the virus, therefore much more likely to pass it on.
Geamhradh · 17/09/2021 20:42

Is there nothing on telly tonight?
We've one who is the equivalent of my 2 year old going "whyyyyyyy" every 30 seconds despite having been told why several times, another one who seems to think that every message to the OP is directed at them, and bloody Florence Nightingale who makes me think I'd take a punt on Dr Shipman's bedside manner and medical expertise.
I'm going to bed.
Stay safe oh sane ones. Brew

DumplingsAndStew · 17/09/2021 20:43

Oh the irony @Sugarandtime

Since when was the term 'anti-vax agenda' seen as "nasty" "unpleasant" and "name calling"?

Where have I said I don’t think the vaccine is not worth having?

I’m just not apoplectic about those who chose not to have it.

It’s their call and it’s fine to make that choice knowing it will have consequences just like you can choose to smoke or drink yourselves to death

But I still think it’s unfair unvaccinated people could travel to green countries without isolating and soon they can’t

maddening · 17/09/2021 20:44

"As far as I am aware, having the vaccine doesn’t stop you getting or transmitting Covid, it just hopefully means you have less severe symptoms if you do get it"

Variants and mutations happen the longer the virus is is a body, if you catch it but your immune system kills it off sooner there is less opportunity to mutation and for new variants to produce and then spread.

Additionally the vaccine reduces virus shed, so with a vaccinated person it is killed by the immune system quicker and less transmissible whilst it is live.

So you are less likely to transmit and transmission time is shortened, and less likely to create a mutation.

DumplingsAndStew · 17/09/2021 20:46

Nothing about this pandemic has been fair.

I used the term antivax only once, in response to a post where it was used.

I have not done any name calling. I suggest that you go back and reread before throwing untrue accusations about.

Mynameismargot · 17/09/2021 20:46

@jade0881

Hi op

I agree with you it is u fair. I'm not vaccinated, don't plan to either until I do more research. I am heavily pregnant and choose not to be vaccinated.. I have my reasons and I won't be judged by people who are vaccinated because it isn't up to them. Of people want to be vaccinated then that's down to them and if people don't want to vaccinated then it's there choice.
If you test positive for "Covid" then isolate if you test negative then you be free.

Posts like this confuse me. What do you mean by research, are you a scientist working on vaccinations? Or do you mean until you do more googling?
Pumperthepumper · 17/09/2021 20:47

Do you have to take the honey, lemon and garlic like that or can you take them separately?

Frazzled2207 · 17/09/2021 20:48

Other than spain who will let you in with a pcr, the vast majority of countries will only let us in if vaccinated
So It’s not going to cause any extra issues to unvaccinated people as they won’t have been able to get abroad in the first place.

Butterflyfluff · 17/09/2021 20:48

Forgive me for thinking

Infections with the Delta variant in vaccinated persons potentially have reduced transmissibility than infections in unvaccinated persons, although additional studies are needed.

Isn’t resounding confirmation that vaccinated people are less likely to transmit Covid

MaxNormal · 17/09/2021 20:50

@PTW1234 I am unvaccinated for medical reasons but perfectly able to travel.

...because there's not been time to do the studies yet?! They're saying that the evidence they have so far suggests that unvaccinated people transmit less, but they would just like more data before making a concrete statement. That's the scientific process.

Here, another study easily found on the first page of google: www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n1112

MadeOfStarStuff · 17/09/2021 20:51

Rules have been constantly changing since last summer. If people choose to go abroad at this time they do so knowing the rules might change before they go or while they’re there. They chose to risk it, so it’s their own lookout.

CendrillonSings · 17/09/2021 20:52

Are there really people who don’t understand that the vaccine reduces your chances of being infected and therefore your chances of infecting others? Or are they just pretending not to understand?

minatrina · 17/09/2021 20:52

Oh no, r.e. my last post - I meant vaccinated people transmit less, not unvaccinated. Sorry! 🤣
