To think the fact that non-vaccinated people will now have to isolate from all non-red countries has been hidden in the small print

I’m pretty sure today’s travel announcement means that if you’re not vaccinated then you must self isolate for 10 days and take day 2 and 8 tests (can still test to release) from all countries outside of the red list

This means that non-vaccinated people going to what are currently green countries who thought they wouldn’t have to isolate, now will if they return after 4th October

@EasterIssland

www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness/why-measure-effectiveness/breakthrough-cases.html

CDC is collecting data on vaccine breakthrough infections and closely monitors the safety and effectiveness of all Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized COVID-19 vaccines. Because vaccines are not 100% effective, as the number of people who are fully vaccinated goes up, the number of vaccine breakthrough infections will also increase. However, the risk of infection remains much higher for unvaccinated than vaccinated people. Studies so far show that vaccinated people are 8 times less likely to be infected and 25 times less likely to experience hospitalization or death. Vaccines remain effective in protecting most people from COVID-19 infection and its complications.

Why do they always run off?

Not running off

Just need some sleep and CBA to argue with people who literally can’t see a problem with unvaccinated people in the UK being able to do pretty much whatever they like, whilst simultaneously becoming outraged if they want to pop aboard for the weekend after having a test to do so, to a country with less infection than the UK

When have I ever given this impression? 😂😂

You're right, you do need some sleep.

toocold54 · 17/09/2021 22:39

Because it contains it in one country. And it reduces the variants spreading too.

I don’t understand why people aren’t understanding this.
Surely it’s just common sense.

It’s the same as when viruses are high in other countries then travelling is restricted. Some countries also require vaccinations. It’s not some government propaganda, it’s just a way to contain something so it doesn’t turn into an epidemic/pandemic.

toocold54 · 17/09/2021 22:39

Are you saying you think unvaccinated people should have more restrictions in the UK then OP?

So you want more restrictions in the UK?
Fatya · 17/09/2021 23:30

Some people really aren’t getting this.

Green countries generally have much lower infection rates than the UK does.

People who chose not to be vaccinated are milling around with all of us in the UK right now.

Where is the harm in them being able to travel to a country with less infection than us?
Surely the big risk is that they end up bringing back a new variant back with them?

Rozziie · 17/09/2021 23:31

@Pixxie7

They know that the protection from vaccination declines relatively quickly so it does raise the question of how protected vaccinated people are.
No they don't. They don't know that at all.
Sweettea1 · 17/09/2021 23:50

And you are surprised at this why? The majority off people I know have only had vaccine because off this reason. Half off the UK wouldn't off gotten the vaccine unless push came to shove and this is just another push.

@jade0881

Hi op

I agree with you it is u fair. I'm not vaccinated, don't plan to either until I do more research. I am heavily pregnant and choose not to be vaccinated.. I have my reasons and I won't be judged by people who are vaccinated because it isn't up to them. Of people want to be vaccinated then that's down to them and if people don't want to vaccinated then it's there choice.
If you test positive for "Covid" then isolate if you test negative then you be free.

Hi ‘jade’, you’re perfectly entitled to not vaccinate yourself due to ‘reasons’ . It’s your body and your choice. Equally, other people and countries are perfectly entitled to ask you to stay away from them in order to prevent unnecessary burdens on the health service that your ‘decision’ may cause.
Jumpjumpjumper · 18/09/2021 00:14

I can only see a brief reference to natural immunity in this thread. It frustrates me that that isn't taken into consideration.
Natural antibodies don't count, apparently. Only a vaccine does.

I had covid, recovered, have antibodies (have done a blood test to see, before the national shortage of blood bottles came about).

Are you an expert in immunology? Or a member of the Oxford vaccine team? Or a researcher at the Francis Crick Institute? If you have new research you should let us know.

They did before didn't they ?

Of course and that's how it should be for people who won't get vaccinated

And people who smoke, drink, take drugs, are fat, take up medical resources too

@Butterflyfluff

Like I've said, I don't know the exact statistics, but that's the way it is.

On that absolute gem, I’ll leave you to it 😂

Let's throw the ball over to you. You're the one asking for the statistical data to prove X because you favour Y yourself So give us some links that prove Y.
