To think the fact that non-vaccinated people will now have to isolate from all non-red countries has been hidden in the small print

I’m pretty sure today’s travel announcement means that if you’re not vaccinated then you must self isolate for 10 days and take day 2 and 8 tests (can still test to release) from all countries outside of the red list

This means that non-vaccinated people going to what are currently green countries who thought they wouldn’t have to isolate, now will if they return after 4th October

@Winebefore5 thank you for agreeing with me

ilovesooty · 17/09/2021 20:04

Oh. Garlic, lemon and honey to get rid of covid? What garbage. Grin

jade0881 · 17/09/2021 20:06

Windyone · 17/09/2021 20:07

@jade0881 which university are you working at/affiliated with for your research?

roses2 · 17/09/2021 20:07

@Pixxie7

They know that the protection from vaccination declines relatively quickly so it does raise the question of how protected vaccinated people are.
Exactly. They're going to have to prep the NHS to give either 6 or 12 month boosters to the whole population every single year. I can't see how they're going to successfully manage that, it will be chaos.
Butterflyfluff · 17/09/2021 20:07

If people are daft enough to refuse vaccines I have no sympathy.

Please could you explain who, other than themselves, unvaccinated people are a danger to?

Vaccinated people can still catch and transmit Covid

And what about when in turns into pneumonia? Add some turmeric?

I think you're talking nonsense. Dangerous nonsense.

I suppose the effect of all that garlic might mean people should have no problem maintaining social distance from you though.

BoreiPuriHagafen · 17/09/2021 20:09

@jade0881

I'm not joking, go boil up some fresh garlic, lemon and honey. Have it daily(once or twice) and defo drink it when u come up with cough and cold. Also fresh lemon(squeezed) and honey. Take a few teaspoons.

Have you informed the WHO of your peer-reviewed, double-blinded study on these remedies?

4.6 million people have died of COVID since last year. I'm sure they will be absolutely kicking themselves when they realise they just needed some garlic.

Geamhradh · 17/09/2021 20:09

@Butterflyfluff

I am vaccinated - it doesn’t affect me but I just think it’s unfair on those who have chosen to go to green countries who now have to isolate for 10 days
They made their choice.

People who are immunosuppressed.

People on chemotherapy.

Children and babies too young to be vaccinated.

And no, vaccinated people are nowhere near as likely to catch or transmit the virus.

@Butterflyfluff they are a danger to anyone who needs treatment for cancer, dementia, any urgent care case like a heart attack, the teenagers who are trying to commit suicide. Unvaccinated people are the majority of those taking up ICU beds, calling out ambulances and stretching our precious resources beyond belief.

It’s pure fucking idiocy to think it affects no one else.

My question is we already know the protection from the vaccine starts to reduce after 6 months ish. So far only the over 50’s to be offered a booster. So for example I’m 35 and going away in 2 months time my 2nd jab was March but that’s fine, why?

YouMeandtheSpew · 17/09/2021 20:12

I get what you mean OP, it’s a pretty significant change and basically means unvaccinated people can’t travel abroad at all without isolating on their return, whereas previously they could go to ‘green’ countries.

But as others have said, international travel is extremely changeable at the moment anyway and anyone who books travel accepts that risk - especially anyone who books travel without being vaccinated. Even under the old rules a green country could be moved to amber or red at very short notice.

Careful love, your anti-vax agenda is starting to show through the "poor travellers" facade. A danger to the people listed above.
DeepaBeesKit · 17/09/2021 20:13

People can get vaccinated if they want to travel. Travelling without being vaccinated is pretty risky so its logical really.

And I think everyone is now used to the fact that if you choose to travel you risk rule changes.

DeepaBeesKit · 17/09/2021 20:14

Unvaccinated people pose higher risk of transmitting the disease to vulnerable and CEV people who for various health reasons can't be vaccinated. Their choice does affect people around them.

ilovesooty · 17/09/2021 20:15

Malta is green and if you're not fully vaccinated you don't get in.

Gilly12345 · 17/09/2021 20:17

Sounds very clear to me.

I work for the nhs as a nurse

Unfashionable · 17/09/2021 20:18

This hasn’t been ‘hidden in the small print’. It’s the whole entire point of the changes.

People have the right to choose to remain unvaccinated if they wish. But as adults we understand that our choices have consequences, and the government are presenting people with the consequences of choosing to remain unvaccinated. That’s entirely reasonable.

knittingaddict · 17/09/2021 20:19

What happened to home remedies.

Right that's it, someone has just jumped the shark and it's hilarious. Or is it tragic? Just can't tell any more.
