I'm a non-confrontational wuss... how to deal with a parking issue??

cricketmum84 · 10/09/2021 07:57

For the last 3 weeks we haven't been able to have our bins emptied on a morning.

This is because the new nobber neighbours boyfriend has taken to parking his scrap van right on the end of our very narrow street (which is a cul de sac)This means that anyone turning on or off our street has to be incredibly careful because you can't see if something is coming the other way.

However it also means that the bin wagon can't access our street on bin day.

Nobber neighbour knows this because she has started taking her bin right to the end of the street past nobber boyfriends van so hers will get emptied. This is very annoying!

Nobber boyfriend is quite aggressive so none of us non-nobber neighbours have dared approach nobber boyfriend.

Can't put a note on the van or through their door as they have cctv so will see who it is.

Short of writing a letter and posting it to them (yes I did say I am a non-confrontational wuss) what do we do??

I hope not because she couldn't even read the full post from the bit she copied where the op clearly said she was reporting the missed delivery.

Too big a rush to bitchplop I expect. 🤷‍♀️

It doesn’t take a genius to not be so unnecessarily rude either.

Clearly. What’s your excuse?

What I didn't realise was that parking issues could be reported.

Doesn’t take a genius to work that out either.

I didn’t claim to be a genius, and I wasn’t rude, I pointed out your rudeness.

You know I can't feeling there is a big gap in the market and a good opportunity for some enterprising persons to form some sort of parking squad. You contact them with the details of the cheeky fucker parker, some money changes hands and within 2 days the vehicle has been moved several miles away, or stolen, or set on fire, or on a ferry on its way to be sold for parts. I mean there will be plenty of business going by the threads on Mumsnet. The Bad Parking Squad will only accept business for genuine nobber parkers, natch.

That would be such a satisfying job!

Vigilantes - or in this case, vanilantes. For all your vehicle-torching needs...

@Serendipity79

We have the same issues on our close now that new neighbours have moved in next door. Have a drive, but park their cars on the close - right out in the road, opposite each other, so you can barely get a smart car between them, to cause the most obstruction possible. And then one right on the sharp bend out of the close, so you cant see if anything is coming and have to go onto the other side of the road to get round the corner. So far this month I've had an Argos delivery and two Tesco deliveries where the drivers have had to carry it all up from the bottom of the road.

Nice next door neighbour on the other side of me pointed out to selfish neighbour that an ambulance or fire engine wouldn't be able to get past their cars, and he just stared at him and walked off. My house is going on the market in a couple of months, and I am going to look for somewhere that's not on a housing estate as the parking issues here over the past few years have driven me mad.

I've not found the council at all helpful despite pointing out the dangers of their parking on corners and blocking the road totally. They just told me to have a chat with them and hopefully they'll realise they're causing an issue.

Wow how annoying. Hmm

On a more serious note (on this funny thread Grin ... ) Why are some people such cunts? KNOWING they are causing an issue... but not giving a shit. I bet they play very loud music too...

I think ANYONE who parks on the road when they have their own driveway, is a twat. A few people on threads about stuff like this say 'I have a steep 'awkward to get my car on' driveway, so I HAVE to park it on the road.'

Bollocks. Big massive hairy bollocks. Why did you MOVE to a property that had a driveway you couldn't get onto then? And moreover, why don't you fucking LEARN to reverse onto your (steep) driveway? You don't deserve a driving licence if your driving skills are so lame!

We had a terrible issue for about 2 years, (throughout 2017 and 2018,) when the woman across the road started to need carers. The carers had this dreadful habit of parking directly opposite our driveway. Five times a day they came, seven days a week, and there were about 7 or 8 different ones! And at least half the time, they would park directly opposite our driveway.

We'd have times when we came in from work and couldn't get onto our driveway, and when we went out in the morning we struggled to get off our driveway, and sometimes when we came in from shopping we couldn't get onto our driveway. A few times, we couldn't get off our driveway when we had an appointment...

On a number of occasions, we knocked the door and asked the carer to please move. They did (sometimes begrudgingly.) One of them said once 'I am trying to do a JOB here.' DH said, 'park on the driveway then. The extra 10 seconds it takes will be much less disruptive than having to come out to move your car because we can't get onto our driveway.'

A few times, they parked opposite (preventing us from getting onto our driveway,) and they didn't answer the door when we knocked, so we were forced to park the car down the road, and carry all the shopping up the road, up the driveway, and into the house! We were fucking furious. It would have taken an extra 5 to 10 seconds for them to park the car on the woman's driveway. It was 2 cars wide, and flat, and easy to get onto (and off!)

I was glad when the woman left! We have a small family there now, and they never park opposite our driveway.

And before anyone has a go at me, yeah I know carers do a good job (most of them,) for not masses of pay, and they don't get paid for their travelling time, but still, they caused great inconvenience for us for 2 years!!! So I reserve my right to complain about them!

CovidCorvid · 10/09/2021 14:54

@Weegiewtf

Can you not surround his van with all the neighbourhood bins?
This, so he has to move them all every single time he goes out. I'd do it even when it's not bin day!

Quick appreciation post for all you MNetters who totally had my back when the mean girl posted.

This is what MN should be about :)

Much appreciated!

Having just read this thread, you are the one coming across as rude.

Meanwhile, I've noticed a couple of people suggesting to call 111. That's the NHS number, police is 101.

And I love the diagram and lyrics, have Little Donkey in my head now.

TSSDNCOP · 10/09/2021 21:29

Organise everyone to take their bins to the end so the nobbermobile cannot even park there.

That's not a bad idea! I'll try galvanise the troops on Wednesday night before bin day 😂 to be honest I think DH would probably do it for them just to get our own back!

Just empty your bins into the back of his lorry (then set the fucker on fire, the lorry, not him!) or pierce his tyres.

Aren't people who do things like this the fucking pits. Causing distress to so many with not a care in the world!

Can you all sign him up for marketing leaflets for erectile dysfunction or dodgy dating groups? Get manure delivered to his front yard or bags of burning dog shit dropped on his doorstep?

Haha I love that idea! Especially if I register him as Nobby Nobber 😂

Yes it's bloody frustrating isn't it! That sense of entitlement like "I can do what I want sod everyone else on the street!"

Nobber Neighbours strike again...

They have a little dog and rather than stick it on a lead and walk it they just open the door and let it run around. Excellent nobber dog keeping skills.

The nobber dog has just chased my poor little cat at the speed of light. She managed to get back in the window just in time and is currently hidden under the table visibly shaking.

Nobbers.

Speak to the police and report it as an obstruction. If the bin wagon cant access the close, neither can a fire engine.
....Or an ambulance

I’m a terrible person, I would trap nobber dog in the garden for a bit. (Feeding lots of tasty treats). Just long enough for them to panic before ‘finding him’
(I wouldn’t actually do this obviously)

I would.

I would also call the dog warden. This dog was running around the street - it could have caused an accident (this is true). You don't have a clue where it's from.

They'll take it, scan it, contact the owner who will then have to pay to get it back.

And will hopefully keep the poor little bugger on a lead after that.

REP22 · 14/09/2021 10:03

My mum's Mafia have two little dogs which THEY let out to run loose and lay their dog-eggs everywhere. Another neighbour installed CCTV specifically to catch them at this, as everyone was sick of their children stepping in it in their own gardens. But we've all seen them standing in the street smoking whilst watching the dogs defecate on neighbours' lawns.

One incident led to a fight to which the Police were called. It improved for a short while after that, but now back to nonchalance and dog-butter on everyone's lawns but their own. I pity the dogs. They deserve better and it's not their fault.

Maybe we could Crowdfund an ACTUAL Little Donkey to cr*p all over the Nobberlawn on Christmas Eve...?

REP22 · 14/09/2021 10:05

P.S. Echo calling the Council's Dog Warden and also possible their Environmental Health department (also re. the bins).

I'm wondering if nobber neighbour is a secret MNetter as nobbervan mysteriously disappeared yesterday afternoon!!

Either that or she has dumped him, but I doubt that as I wfh right next to the living room window with it open all day and I haven't heard any shouting!!

Maybe Nobber Neighbour is BoredZelda? She's the only one who came along trying to ruin a thread that everyone else was enjoying and contributing to in a fun way.
