To be sick of mens road rage and men being unable to contain their anger

A man was tailgating me and gesticulating this morning because he wanted to force me to overtake a child who was cycling - on a busy road with bollards where there wasn't room. I'm so sick of men not being able to manage their anger, and thinking they are entitled to be so aggressive and rude.

So many people (of all genders) seem to use their time behind the wheel as an outlet for all their pent up rage.

Similar principle to trolls/ keyboard warriors - they feel safe in their cars to behave this way.

That link you posted @AssassinatedBeauty is hilarious for the comment posted by poor old battered by the femocracy Gordon beneath!

The article quite clearly demonstrates that men cause more serious accidents, kill more people behind the wheel but think they’re better drivers. So, the only comment below by poor old beleaguered Gordon goes:

But what about low-speed prangs in carparks? Accidents caused by a more aggressive driving style could mask superior technical skill behind the wheel. This wasn’t addressed in the article. When I see someone who has trouble parking in a tight spot, it is almost invariably a woman!

To be this encapsulates the psychological switcheroony that the patriarchy plays on women. Even when men are demonstrably worse, they manage to switch it around and make it that women are the inferior ones, that men make these mistakes because they have superior technical skill.

He’s right though, one does require superior technical skill to kill people! Shock I can’t even!

I remember 3 road rage incidents with women in 25 years of driving.

They stand out because they were women.

All the men behaving like twats are too numerous to count.

I once witness two drivers having an issue with priorities at a junction. One was joining in from the side, in front of moving traffic. This happened regularly in the junction, because the traffic lights timings. Never seen an issue before, as drivers just give way kindly. Nobody can go fast, as the traffic lights have changed to red, and there is room for the side road traffic while theirs remains green for a few extra seconds, plus there is full visibility for all parties. You need to know the road, and just be kind.
But no this guy, no. He tooted, shouted and shouted. Traffic moved around 500 yards till next traffic light. He then came out of his car and started banging on the other driver's window like a mad man! The other driver was a woman.
I was about to call the police. It was quite scary. Just for 5 seconds of his time!
It is just madness! They only need to be a little bit patient!

I had a perfect example of this earlier.

I'm approaching a side turning on my right. People often pull out from there turning right without looking to their left (there seems to be an assumption people don't drive down the road I was on as it's often quiet, but it's a through road...I am very aware of this turning because a couple of years ago someone pulled out from there and smashed into the side of my DS car (he was fine though thankfully).

So today I'm coming along and I can see a car approaching the junction and not slowing down nor checking to his left...as he crosses the give way lines about 2 feet ahead of me I beep my horn as I genuinely thought he was going to drive into me.

To which he stops inches from my car and starts shouting all red faced FUCK OFF BEEPING AT ME I FUCKING SAW YOU and a load of other insults.

He clearly hadn't seen me, as if he had he would have stopped at the give way lines. Prat. He was so incensed I'm sure he'd have reacted similarly to a man though.

@Poetrypatty

How can you tell what sex the driver of the car in front is? They are usually obscured by the seat and head restraint.

He could see as he was almost in my car! Also I am taller than the head constraint. And it was daylight.

Please please adjusr your headrest, if your head is above it you wouldn’t be sufficiently protected in a crash.

I live in London, I would say 80% of people drive like wankers, doesn’t seem to vary greatly between men and women.

I did once have a driver purposely push me off my bike because I was in the cyclists box at the traffic lights.

Some people are just horrible, but for some reason they’re much worse behind the wheel. I had a woman challenge me to a race a few weeks ago, really sensible in a busy area and when she could clearly see I had a child in the car, I also drive like an old man.

AICM · 12/09/2021 16:42

Not all men are like this!

LaetitiaASD · 12/09/2021 16:44

@MoreAloneTime

If you were a man I bet he'd have managed to control himself
I think you might be wrong making that assumption. I think that you might be surprised how many men are perfectly capable of getting angry and entering an argument which could turn violent even when the argument is with someone much bigger than them or even with a group.

I think others might also be downplaying the extent men can manage their anger. Pretty sure not everyone in prison for violent crimes is there because they rationally chose to do physical harm, pretty sure that anger contributed to or outright caused most of them

I’ve been driving about four hours a day in London traffic for 10 years. Never had a woman road rage at me. Am the victim of aggressive appalling illegal manoeuvres by men on a daily basis UNLESS they can see my DH in the front passenger seat. I was complaining to DH just today that I’m sick of the male aggression. It’s exhausting and it’s dangerous. I think I’ll take the suggestion and get cameras as others have suggested.

ScreamingBeans · 12/09/2021 16:56

I've just realised that we should all drive around with dummies in the front passenger seat.

I have been driving continuously for 40 years mostly around S London. I have never experienced any road rage from a woman it always been from men.
