@doorornottodoor

Santa does exist. I think I just wanted to believe it so much when I was a child. I mean on a practical level I know it’s not true but the dreamer/child in me believes it.
Me too! When DD was born DP and I on her first Christmas Eve said to each other what if it's a secret that only parents know, what if there is an extra present from Father Christmas here in the morning? I was only half joking!
Chachachawoo · 24/08/2021 07:08

Went down a YouTube hole and stumbled on clips claiming Michelle Obama is or was a man.
It was so weird but also compelling. Ashamed to say I watched quite a few and occasionally have lingering doubts

CherryLeaf · 24/08/2021 07:08

That if I’ve had a bad day it somehow ‘goes onto’ the clothes… so I have to wash them before wearing them again or I’ll have another bad day when I wear them. Makes no sense at all but I feel so much better taking those clothes off and getting them washed to start afresh.

I believe someone somewhere has dinosaurs, like a jurassic park Island. I think scientists have them somewhere

I also have a "power" where I can guess the correct sex of unborn babies. Every single time I have guessed in the last 10 years I have been right, loads of babies. I dont guess everyone, usually people I k ow relatively well. If i see someone and dont get an immediate vibe i dont guess. I never guess, with lots of people i just know

SpiderinaWingMirror · 24/08/2021 07:19

That if I copy and paste on my phone I can feel the words stuck to my finger until I pasted them.

coodawoodashooda · 24/08/2021 07:22

@DismantledKing

If I lose something and can’t find it for ages, I ask the little people politely to return it. Yes it sounds mad.
Im going to do this!
essentialhealing · 24/08/2021 07:28

Roswell 1947 was an alien craft and not an air balloon

Veronika13 · 24/08/2021 07:32

@Raaaaaaarr

Humans once had tails (ages ago)
We actually did, thought everyone knew that? That's what the bone coccyx is for (tailbone) - it is left here from evolution.
SamVimes6 · 24/08/2021 07:34

I have 2. Both utterly ridiculous but I can’t stop believing.

  1. I control the weather. I have never, never had bad weather for any holiday, day out, wedding etc. Even if said day was in February and we’ve had the worst winter in years, the day I’m off work the sun comes out. Even my grandchildren ‘ask’ me for good weather!
One year we were driving to Wales and it was raining all the way. My DH kept saying “well, weather witch looks like you’ve failed this time” I kept saying it would be nice when we got there. As soon as we got to the village we was booked in at, the sun came out and it was glorious all week. We got home to biblical flooding in our home town.
  1. If I sleep on a plane, it will fall from the sky. It’s only me being awake that keeps it in the sky. Nothing to do with physics, it’s me and my powers. Must. Not. Sleep…. Dreading my flight to New York 😖😖😖
TheRabbitStoleMyHat · 24/08/2021 07:34

That had things happen in 3. Ridiculous I know but if something happens on the way to work, like I’ve forgotten something then I can guarantee two other things will happen along the way. Or maybe I’m looking for them.

Snorkello · 24/08/2021 07:35

@PoorCatto I believe that too! I swear I can smell when people are pregnant. I’ve been right every time! It’s obviously insane, but I also believe pheromones are the main reason we are attracted to other people too, or not, because some people simply smell nicer Confused

OatyLatte · 24/08/2021 07:35

That all things happen for a reason. When we've missed out on buying a house for example, we've ended up with a better one in the long run.

I even believe this about my cancer diagnosis. It's a long outing story but I do think it has given me reason to reassess my life, which I wouldn't have done otherwise.

Things happen for a reason is hardly an insane belief. It's something everyone says when you go through shit in life.
Veronika13 · 24/08/2021 07:37

@Raaaaaaarr to freak you out more Grin we all HAVE tails! It falls off during 31-35 week gestation!
It then regresses and becomes coccyx (tailbone) 😌

StormOfSekhmet · 24/08/2021 07:38

I believe that the hadron collider has broken the world.

LostThings · 24/08/2021 07:40

That the lady who cursed our house when I was little really did put a curse on us all, and that's why me, my sister and parents have had sad lives. Our crime? We didn't buy her lucky heather.

Izzy24 · 24/08/2021 07:44

That a large rosemary bush in my garden has a spirit. I lean into her for a ‘hug’ sometimes. I believe all trees and plants are sentient but this particular rosemary bush is very loving…

SpacePug · 24/08/2021 07:59

@onthebrink87 I just LOVE that you sent the ghost cat out the back door and it never returned 😂😂

@WomanStanleyWoman

I sometimes catch myself thinking about how I’ll do something differently ‘next time around’ - as in when my life resets and starts again. It’s bizarre, as I know perfectly well that we only live once, but somewhere deep down, a tiny part of me hasn’t accepted it and thinks I’ll get to do this all again.
Have you read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August?
Lightisnotwhite · 24/08/2021 08:04

I definitely have lucky and unlucky clothes.

I realise this is supposed to be because I sub consciously act differently in say, my lucky clothes.
But that doesn’t explain how things outside my control happen. Getting sent home at the beginning of Covid last year with no work to do was amazing - like a snow day. Lucky dress never lets me down!

I believe that some houses make me ill I don't mean from a physical cause like damp or mould or asbestos etc. I mean the energy of the house is destructive to me I lived in one place 13 years and that's where I first got ill - progressively more so over the years. I got better the very day I moved out. It's now happening again. Only this time it's a more serious illness. The original illness never came back. In both houses I was/am essentially trapped by circumstance and unable to just leave. Other aspects of my situation are also unnervingly similar to before

I guess I need to find a way to move out. 🤷‍♀️

That’s a normal belief in some cultures. A friend who lived in Thailand for years, once moved house and her Thai maid immediately said it was a very bad house, bad spirits here.
Of course the friend scoffed, but everything started going wrong in that house, including illness.
The family eventually moved again, and things improved very quickly.

I’m not really woo, but I do think some houses have warm, happy atmospheres, and others the reverse. We’ve viewed some terribly dated ones where you instantly felt that this had been a happy family home.

We’ve viewed another, perfect on paper, where I honestly couldn’t wait to get out.

I agree, although I didn't become seriously ill at my last house, but I was definitely becoming unwell, and my daughter was also affected, but in other ways.

Have you looked in to Feng Shui as a way to help improve the energy flow in your house? When I read this book a lot if it made sense regarding how the energy in a house gets blocked: www.amazon.co.uk/10-Minute-Feng-Shui-Techniques-Prosperity/dp/1592339123/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=10+minute+feng+shui&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1629788907&sr=8-3

HarrietsChariot · 24/08/2021 08:12

We should have public executions for serious crimes e.g. murder.

Everyone seems shocked when I say that, but if anything it is an aberration that we find the idea disturbing or offensive. Public executions were carried out in France until 1939, it's only comparatively recently that all "civilized" countries have abandoned them.

Looking at the balance of history, my views are quite moderate - I think public hanging is good, but drawn the line at beheading.

Well I don’t think those thoughts are insane, because we do keep coming back.
