@HarrietsChariot

We should have public executions for serious crimes e.g. murder.

Everyone seems shocked when I say that, but if anything it is an aberration that we find the idea disturbing or offensive. Public executions were carried out in France until 1939, it's only comparatively recently that all "civilized" countries have abandoned them.

Looking at the balance of history, my views are quite moderate - I think public hanging is good, but drawn the line at beheading.

What happens when the hanging goes wrong and the rope decapitates the "victim" ?

Aside, yes people are shocked, its sick, not an insane belief.

I cursed DH’s boss in December 2019, specifically wishing his business would collapse and he would experience bad health. It wasn’t just a little muttering either, I cast a proper spell on a very specific day with witchy paraphernalia. I did this with full knowledge and acceptance of the rule of three coming back to bite me in the bum. The next day, Covid appeared in the news. I feel slightly responsible and think I might have caused a world pandemic 😬😕

EarringsandLipstick · 24/08/2021 08:23

The awful reviews put me off.

I loved it! I listened to the audio book tho, think just made a difference.

Chunkymenrock · 24/08/2021 08:23

Castration of sex offenders should be compulsory.
That life mostly comprises moving things from one place to another.

ssd · 24/08/2021 08:23

I know for a fact karma doesn't exist

IrisAtwood · 24/08/2021 08:25

@Izzy24

That a large rosemary bush in my garden has a spirit. I lean into her for a ‘hug’ sometimes. I believe all trees and plants are sentient but this particular rosemary bush is very loving…
I believe this too 😊
Laiste · 24/08/2021 08:27

Something happened to me apx 10 years ago which showed me very clearly that there is some form of energy which science hasn't quite pinned down yet.

Spirit of a dead human? No i don't think so ... I really don't know! Confused

I do know it took me a very long time to process what had happened. Months. It's not like in the movies when it happens to you for real. I don't like to talk about it because understandably people think you're mad or making it up, so i just don't think about it.

diddl · 24/08/2021 08:34

@tensmum1964

That seeing one Magpie brings you bad luck unless you salute and say, "Hello Mr Magpie, I hope your family are safe and well" 🤣
I always thought it was "Good morning Mr Magpie, and how's your wife today?"

Whilst doffing one's cap, of course!

cafenoirbiscuit · 24/08/2021 08:34

That if I stay in the bath when the plug is pulled out I will go down the plughole. I literally jump out 😱

MistyGreenAndBlue · 24/08/2021 08:38

@citycitycity

Ha! I could teach seminars on Feng Shui. Have been on that train for years. My mum got me into it.
Also tried many different methods for clearing bad energy.
Maybe it's me. Or maybe these particular houses are just very badly situated and there's nothing to be done.
One other thing I noticed is that in both of these homes, I got really fat.
Oh yes. I need to move Grin

Izzy24 · 24/08/2021 08:40

@IrisAtwood

😊😊😊

citycitycity · 24/08/2021 08:58

@MistyGreenAndBlue

Can you point me to any good Feng Shui books, etc? The one I linked to is the only one I've read (recently - I read some years ago but forget what they were) and it made so much sense in the house that I was in. I've just moved and am implementing lots of the advice in my new house.

I'm also looking into Ayurveda and, as a poster above, witchcraft.

I am very interested in energy at the moment and believe that most practices such as Feng Shui, witch craft, even prayer work with energy, both personal and universal.

Clearly that's my insane belief!

Alloftheboys · 24/08/2021 09:16

I understand the basic theory of flight (thrust, air flow over the wings etc) but I believe to get the wheels on a plane to leave the runway everyone on board has to do a little “uurrrrghhh” tense to force the plane into the air. 😃

Themadcatparade · 24/08/2021 09:20

That our life is repeated over and over and over again until we start making better choices each time around and learn from ourselves and the world and eventually have some sort of awakening. There always feels like there are lessons to be learned although I don’t know what the lesson is.

Hence intuition and the feeling that something isn’t right or is going to happen and deja vu.

Themadcatparade · 24/08/2021 09:22

@Laiste this is interesting! I’ve always felt energy around me including other people’s and people think I’m bonkers for that so I don’t say too much about it because I don’t fully understand it myself.

Themadcatparade · 24/08/2021 09:25

@OatyLatte ahhh yess. Completely agree!

Peace43 · 24/08/2021 09:25

Executing criminals is fine if you can guarantee 100% that they did the crime…. The problem is that sometimes the justice system gets it wrong. How many innocent people are you willing to kill?

DrManhattan · 24/08/2021 09:28

My most insane believe is that if you spend 20 years sorting something out, you can leave and its all been fixed. Everyone is safe and well. No one gets left behind.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 24/08/2021 09:30

@citycitycity

Look up Lilian Too. She has loads of books on Feng Shui and a pretty good website.

lucysnowe2 · 24/08/2021 09:34

That my mum (died last year) is almost literally possessing me right now. (I know that sounds bonkers :))

110APiccadilly · 24/08/2021 09:46

I can never quite bring myself to disbelieve in Robin Hood, despite knowing perfectly well that the evidence is against him ever having existed, and that if, by one chance in a thousand, he did, he was almost certainly a lot more into the whole "taking from the rich" part than the "giving to the poor".

Myfanwyprice · 24/08/2021 09:57

I’ve got this strong belief that when we die, we will find out all of life’s mysteries, rationally I know it isn’t possible, but I can’t help myself. So if we’re discussing who Jack the Ripper was or what it was like to live during Tudor times, there’s always part of me that thinks don’t worry, you’ll know when you die!

yellowsubmarines · 24/08/2021 10:22

I believe that anything with fruit in is healthy. Rum raisin ice cream, blueberry muffins, that chocolate bar with cherries I ate last night, all classed as one of the five a day. Wink

RVN123 · 24/08/2021 10:22

@WestendVBroadway

Dinosaurs didn't actually exist. Somebody has actually just put the bones of several smaller animals together to form one large beast. I know it is only me who thinks that. My DH says he doesn't believe in God, because nobody who is alive today ever saw Jesus, I give him the same argument about dinosaurs!
This has been true for a couple of dinosaur finds, it was later discovered that the bones were in the wrong configuration and they didn't look anything like the initial impression of them. Or that other bones had been mixed up with the find which didn't belong there. Dinosaur classification is still evolving even today, (Brontosaurus has been debunked, rebunked, debunked several times) . It's all just conjecture. As you say, no one was there to see them!
Brainwave89 · 24/08/2021 10:36

To think when I see a robin, that it is actually my long since passed mum coming to see how I am....
