Let me explain. I need a new measuring jug. The measures have been washed off my glass ones and my plastic one is not easy to read. They're cheap yet I have been struggling for about 2 years and never really sure I've measured correctly meaning some failed bread and the odd annoyance most days. Why haven't o bought one? I fear it's symptomatic of other flaws
Tell me yours and make me feel less of a weirdo

Those Klippit things for sealing open bags of coffee and pasta and nuts and seeds. We used to have loads of them and over the years they've gone and I've improvised with clothes pegs, which fall off the packs and allow the contents to leak.

I've googled them a few times on Lakeland and gone 'whoa' when I've seen they're £13, plus p+p and they sell them in packs of 48. I can't believe they're charging that much for a few bits of plastic and I only need half that number, so I put them in the 'I can live without that' category. But they're useful and I can afford £13. I probably need to talk to a psychotherapist about it!

@Daisy62

This thread inspired me to order staples. £3.95 for staple happiness.
recently got inspired to buy the longed for very small stapler - been looking for a small stapler (in back of my mind) for years that would fulfil my dream of not jamming. Decided to finally commit and bought one in Tiger the other day- turns out it's a box of staples. I feel cheated that the tiny perfect stapler wasn't it there. Such a disappointent - made a note to self: stop putting off buying some reading glasses Grin

IKEA knockoffs are cheaper. Not so good as Lakeland as in sometimes won't clip, but good enough in that they work most of the time. My adult kids are amazed that other people don't have them - they're an everyday thing in our house.

A new pillow. I’ve spent a fortune on bedding recently but still dithering about pillows.

WildRunner · 23/08/2021 23:41

Oh god. Just basic cotton knickers. I earn decent money, but still wear ancient, mouldering knickers with the crotch running to multiple holes and the side seams split. No-one sells decent, cotton ones online without a massive order for free delivery.

I finally braved a trip to the Retail Metropolis this weekend to buy a basic multipack of knickers - and my husband was horrified at the (perfectly reasonable) price. I pointed out I'd last bought a pack in 2017, so £13 for four pairs over 4 years worked out so cheap I can't be arsed to do the maths.

It's a lovely feeling though, to wear pants that aren't unintentionally crotchless 🤣

TheChosenTwo · 23/08/2021 23:41

Oh my god you lot with bloody beeping smoke alarms please fix them ASAP. It cost me £8 this morning for 4 new batteries that arrived at 5pm this afternoon and are now all fitted. Please please please Sad

@MelbourneTerrace
Oh which can opener is it please? I have been meaning to replace mine for about ooh 10 years now

Haffiana · 23/08/2021 23:44

@rosegoldwatcher

One of those frilly, foot scrubbing mats to go on the floor of the shower.

It has been in my Wish List on Amazon for more than a year.
My heels are thick and dry.
I clearly need one so why haven't i bought it?

Blimey, I had never even heard of these, and have just bought one because of your post. Grin
safclass · 23/08/2021 23:46

Hiw is that posaible? How can you ignore it? One beep and i have to go the shop immediately!

baffledcoconut · 23/08/2021 23:46

Oh god the list is endless.

But I did replace my knickers this year. And it feels AMAZING. Plain cotton ones from Waitrose is where it’s at.

I need some new tongs. Ours are shit. They’ve been shit for a decade.

baffledcoconut · 23/08/2021 23:47

@Becca8675309 get yourself a culinare magican. It’s immense.

BigRedFrog · 23/08/2021 23:49

@Wineandroses3 I had the same problem. I resolved it by putting another child's coat hanger in the bag, the opposite way round, so they hook onto the line the opposite way round.
Never been blown off since 👍

HerRoyalNotness · 23/08/2021 23:49

A pull chain for plan overhead light. 7yrs it was broken. Finally ordered one on Amazon and fixed it, the prompt? A rather nasty fall and injury trying to reach the little stubby but that was there

gettingoverthings · 23/08/2021 23:52

I always wince when I feel like I'm using too much kitchen roll. Feels v extravagant to buy!

Ditto bin bags.

Yet will spend a bloody fortune on clothes...

MrsToothyBitch · 23/08/2021 23:52

A new washing up bowl. I've been too lazy to size up the sink to do it.

BillMasheen · 23/08/2021 23:56

@CorianderBee @PinkyAndALurkyPerky

Please, don’t pump it or add oil. Just buy a new one. There’s a risk of nasty eye infections in old mascara..

Pbbananabagel · 23/08/2021 23:58

Took us 4 1/2 years and baby no. 2 being on the way to put up a clothesline.

Mamanyt · 24/08/2021 00:01

A new pill sorter. Following my stroke, I went from taking 5 pills in the morning and two at night to taking a total of 16 at four different times of day. The pill sorter is now getting REAL use. The names of the days have worn off over half of them, as has the "Morning, Noon, Evening, Night" labeling. They're dirt cheap over here, but I cannot make myself replace the stupid thing! And when I finally do, I'll feel like I should bury the old one, and say a few words over it...something like, "Farewll, thou good and faithful servant!" I felt the same way when my old computer died...after 18 years of daily use! My Elder Spawn built it for me.

Thewiseoneincognito · 24/08/2021 00:03

I mean where to even begin.

I think nothing of paying £200 for eye cream or Diptyque candles and yet I could cut open an empty tube of Colgate toothpaste just so I don’t waste any that might be left, toothpaste which I will only buy when it’s on offer in the biggest size for better value. £1.50 and easily lasts a couple of months.

They do excellent ones in IKEA.

Tbh light bulbs I can relate to. Major pain knowing which type to get for different appliances.
Re floor cleaning. Dodgy hip plus back at times. Can only push up from one leg to get up from the ground and though I have a reasonably good sense of balance so can get up without rolling onto all fours, try to balance /support myself with a counter when cleaning the kitchen floor it still is annoying. Yet to find any way to clean eg a broken egg without getting on the floor. Best general hard floor cleaner, without spills was a steam cleaner.
Bit off topic I know but love my Vax Air Stetch pet vacuum cleaner. Mostly use it as as upright and there is variable power. When my back is bad found a cheap cylinder cleaner agony. All attachments fit to a static main unit so can dust, get rid of cobwebs without carrying much weight.

HaveringWavering · 24/08/2021 00:11

A plain silver chain. I have a lovely pendant that was on such a chain until it was broken by a grabbing baby . Every few days I put on one of my many outfits that needs that necklace to set it off perfectly and wish I had got round to replacing it. It’s like Groundhog Day.

I think I am afraid of unfamiliarity with chain length options.

NotMyCat · 24/08/2021 00:12

A grater

I spent ages with a frying pan that had lost the non stick bit. One day I walked outside and launched the pan, complete with stuck on omelette into the bin and went and bought a new one Grin

DroopyClematis · 24/08/2021 00:12

Today I bought a laundry basket to put dirty clothes in.
It was £15.
For the last 20 odd years we've been piling our dirty clothes in a corner of the bedroom until the pile is high enough to do a full wash. We would then grab them and throw them down the stairs.
This new basket has handles so that , once it's full we can grab it and take it downstairs.

Why did we not buy one years ago?

possibleimpossible · 24/08/2021 00:13

A new concealer, I've been tipping and scraping the bottle for weeks now.
