No AIBU just posting here as more people use this topic.

I know being famous means you cannot leave your old life and start again like some missing people must.

Some people just vanish though don't they? Taking no money or ID.

Can people just "disappear? I know a lot of these people will have been murdered and no evidence found but how come it hadn't happened to anyone famous.

Had a drink tonight abs I can't really put it into words what I'm trying to say.

I have been to the area where Harold Holt drowned. The rips (currents) are really strong, even very experienced swimmers could easily get in trouble.

A swimming pool was named after Harold Holt as memorial.

I think the mystery of The Princes of The Tower is captivating. On a recent camping trip, I ran out of ghost stories and told that story to my DC instead.

CabbagesGreen · 21/08/2021 06:55

I'm not actually drunk not drank in years but I use that as an excuse because of my autism abs dyslexia. well stop doing that. No need to try and excuse your autism and dyslexia.

Ryan has been missing from radio and tv for months. Not a peep from the papers either.

HollyGrail · 21/08/2021 07:00

Neil Buchanan must be 64 - is he still zipping around doing those Banksy paintings?

It is sad that his husband left him and he has been struggling with his mental health too :( I hope he will be back soon.

There have been stories about him - Rylan Clarke? He had split with his husband and has not been coping very well with it.

It must be being reported if I know that as I'm hardly his #1 follower...

... Or am I ;)

What really did happen to Duffy? Was she kidnapped or something?
She seemed to disappear just after that dreadful coke ad was aired with her singing on it sounding like an old lady. Never heard of her again. It's like that ad killed her career.
MyOtherProfile · 21/08/2021 07:15

Saint Exupery was never found.

The80sruled99 · 21/08/2021 07:17

Jason Orange from Take That has disappeared....just doesn't want the famous life anymore 😕❤️

@Handsoffstrikesagain
but I don’t think any action was ever taken against anyone, that article says she told two police officers.

That was a very very very bizarre situation which she's talked about but not really explained much. Like was it a stranger, a boyfriend? Something doesn't completely add up.
brokenbiscuitsx · 21/08/2021 07:37

@LemonSwan

Ive got a spoiler for everyone - Richey Edwards is Banksy
Only he’s not, isn’t Banksy the guy from Massive Attack?
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 21/08/2021 07:40

Do you mean Art Attack? Grin

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 21/08/2021 07:42

Although Massive Attack are from Bristol. Hmm, interesting! I’d never heard that theory before.

CovidCorvid · 21/08/2021 07:52

@DominicRaabsTravelAgent

Keith Chegwin drank himself to death didn't he?
No he didn’t. He died of pulmonary fibrosis.
flowerbus · 21/08/2021 07:53

I saw first Manics gig without him supporting Stone Roses and there was a man (I assume) in a Darth Vadar costume stood next to us all day / night - I did keep wondering if it was Richie

It would be amazing if it was

Haha no, Massive Attack not Art Attack.🤣 Although I’ve heard the Neil Buchanan theory.

He had been a graffiti artist before joining the band apparently. I met someone recently who said they knew Banksy but wouldn’t say who, when I said the guy from Massive Attack he just winked, so either he is or that guy was just happy perpetuating a theory and had no idea. 🤣 His artwork is online, some I can see the Banksy style in but I’m probably just trying to fit it into what I want to believe ☺️

FlorenceWintle · 21/08/2021 08:05

@iloveeverykindofcat

I think its pretty well evident that Richey jumped off the Severn bridge sadly. I live in Wales and am a big Manics fan so I've investigated this a lot. A taxi driver even reported dropping off a young man near the bridge at the right time and described him as about 5"7, thin, with dark hair and "a Scottish accent that occasionally slipped into Welsh". There are some odd circumstances that make it just about possible he might have faked his death but it's very very improbable.
But I thought his car was found abandoned near the bridge. So did he get a taxi there or drive himself?
queenrollo · 21/08/2021 08:05

Banksy is not in a band or anyone remotely famous. He's a completely unassuming middle aged white guy. I'm always amused by how many theories bounce around about who he is though.
Neil Buchanan is closer to the mark than any of the other guesses.

dayswithaY · 21/08/2021 08:07

There's a podcast called "Missing Richard Simmons". He's very famous in the US as a fitness instructor, even if you've never heard of him it's worth a listen. The host is very good and it's more an investigation into why and how people go missing than a feature about Simmons (who went missing, obvs).

There's an episode of "Criminal" podcast that also talks about how difficult it is to completely disappear in the digital age if you are alive and just want to walk away from everything - basically, it's near on impossible.

A swimming pool was named after a man that drowned!? Confused
HoppingPavlova · 21/08/2021 08:12

Whatserfaces husband in tiger king

Carol. I presumed he was tiger food. There was a huge industrial grinder on her property (that large whole animal like deer were put through I thought), so very easy to get rid of him. I think the police came and checked it but that was a few years after he disappeared so can’t imagine there would be any trace of him left after hundreds of animals went through meanwhile.

HoppingPavlova · 21/08/2021 08:15

A swimming pool was named after a man that drowned!?

Even more hilariously it’s called the ‘Harold Holt Swim Centre’.

thedevilinablackdress · 21/08/2021 08:19

Since most 64 year olds still work and live relatively active lives, I don't see why not.
