To think Joe Biden is an even worse president than Trump?

I realise Trump was appalling in many ways so this isn't a pro-Trump post really, and I know he was the one who put things in motion for the withdrawal from Afghanistan. But to pull out in such a sudden and shambolic way will without doubt be the direct cause of many deaths and other atrocities in Afghanistan, including the deaths of those who helped the US and other forces. I think it's utterly unforgivable. Can't think of anything Trump did with quite such immediate and devastating consequences. AIBU?

Did anybody see il Douche's comments on women's football the other day btw? A reminder of how demented he was. A great feminist though, like when he cheated on his pregnant wife with a pornstar then threatened her and her child via secret service agents

mustlovegin · 16/08/2021 18:14

RIGHT NOW WE DON'T KNOW WHO IS RUNNING THE COUNTRY

This is true, though

Unsure33 · 16/08/2021 18:19

@Littlepaws18 Too little too late. Ben Wallace has already stated that most can't be saved and there are no plans to get troops in to rescue them. And now, just read on BBC news that they are halting rescue efforts as it's too dangerous!

How many Afghans that worked with the uk are to come out - apparently we have got 2000 out already ?

My genuine question is I understand the Uk ambassador is busy helping people with paperwork but how on earth do you make sure you have all the correct people ?

Buccanarab · 16/08/2021 18:21

The peace loving world should be very, very scared

Of America? I agree. Without doubt the most bloodthirsty country to have ever existed. Now they're out of Afghanistan I imagine half the world are worrying about when their dose of freedom and democracy will rain down on them like hellfire from the sky.

BrozTito · 16/08/2021 18:27

Yes but its freedom hellfire

Unfortunately Trump never takes any responsibility for anything negative. Thankfully he hasn’t got his Twitter account back.

What I don't understand is that the foreign office knew this was coming so why weren't all tranlators, etc given visas and flown to this country in advance of this happening. Then there could gave been a quick exit of embassy staff and military personnel. Or maybe this has been happening and we just don't know. I have, seen translators in the papers asking for help and I have heard of visas being given. I wish I could the media to give honest updates.
Honestly, although Ben Wallace crying showed how much he cared, I'd have preferred to see some confidence that they'd withdrawn everyone who needed to be.

saraclara · 16/08/2021 18:40

@lllllllllll

Biden is very far from perfect - I know. I know. At least he has some humility, grace, decorum, intelligence and he doesn't incite violence, sedition and white supremacist terrorism with his manchildish, pathetic and low IQ refusal to admit defeat. He doesn't mock the disabled or describe ku klux Klan members as very fine people. He doesn't think rich people are the victims of having to witness the homeless. I could go on and on.

@lubeybooby He has left thousands of women and children to suffer from beatings, rape, abuse and death at the hands of a brutal regime in Afghanistan though - something which could have been entirely prevented.

But hey, at least he's got grace and decorum Hmm

Trump was the one who did 90% of that. He released 5,000 Taliban prisoners to do that raping and abusing, calling them a force for good, and made the deal that Biden was left with little choice other than to finish carrying out.

Biden was left with the poisoned chalice.

MordenLarch · 16/08/2021 18:42

He’s appalling. Both at home and abroad. He’s consigned the women (in particular) of Afghanistan to rape, slavery and worse, and has completely undermined women’s rights at home. He’s “pro environment” while simultaneously signing orders for new oil and gas exploration. I hate him

Thesandmanishere · 16/08/2021 18:43

A balloon with a face drawn on it with a sharpie would still have been a better president than Trump.

MarshaBradyo · 16/08/2021 18:44

Why did he release them? And call them that

Marmaladeagain · 16/08/2021 18:48

Listen to Biden's own words from July 2021 at 3.15 on video - it is shocking to hear him saying so recently that none of what has happened in the last few days could ever be a possibility.

Biden's own words from July should be heard loud and clear at 3.15 onwards on this video - everything that has now come to pass he denies vehemently as even being a possibility.

@user34128913 -- What does "researcher" mean?
Yeah, the migrant kids put in cages who can never be reunited with their parents, this was great immigration policy being implemented. The Americans whose parents got deported for not being citizens those Americans hugely benefited from saying goodbye to their parents. Covid ran rampant in detention centres. Do tell us more how wonderful this all was.

I observe political policies and write about long term impact.

Kids being separated at the border, as mentioned on my post, was not a Trump-created issue. It started in the Obama era and became worse over time. Media picked up on it during Trump. Actually the situation is far worse now but media is staying silent so we think it’s all fine now.

Have a look at Biden's messaging and his own words on the attached video I put above that will tell you why no-one was prepared - heads instructed to be in sand. Poor leadership etc.

zoemum2006 · 16/08/2021 18:53

500,000 + Americans died because Trump was a horrific president who played politics with Covid.

Biden has been a good president so far and is much more popular with Americans than Trump.

We need more details on the situation in Afghanistan to fully judge.

newyorker74 · 16/08/2021 18:54
@newyorker74 - this is a good article on how the Taliban are funded: www.bbc.com/news/world-46554097
Thank you. That's actually really interesting not only in terms of funding but that 70% of the country has been under Taliban control since 2018, they have taken over mining areas and rights etc. Makes it even more obvious to me that - not excusing the issue of those who supported the west being in real danger- how little of the country the west ever actually controlled.

@MoiraRose4

But what’s the alternative? How many years have troops been present and look how quickly it has crumbled. Do they stay there forever?
Exactly. This was always going to happen when troops withdrew, whenever it happened. All that time putting an infrastructure in place and it’s immediately turned to rat shit. Those poor people, especially females. The whole thing is so disturbing but I don’t know what the alternative is.

newyorker74 · 16/08/2021 19:04

Can I suggest you do a little more research on this? The law did exist during the Obama administration but was treated as a civil violation which meant no legal charges so parents and children could stay together. Under trump, they enacted a zero tolerance policy which meant parents were charged with the crime of crossing the border and as kids can't stay with parents in jail, they were separated.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/08/2021 19:04

Are you aware that Biden famously overcame a speech impediment and that's why he sometimes stumbles over words?

Yes I am

However I'm interested in what type of speech impediment causes someone to refer to Harris's husband as her wife ... to mis-name which state he's in ... to mix up Trump with Bush (and Obama) ... to say he's running for the Senate instead of the Presidency ... to insist that 200 million have died of Covid ... and many more

PurpleVerbena · 16/08/2021 19:04

I would rather have Trump back than this Biden idiot, any day. At least he said what he felt.

Danja2010 · 16/08/2021 19:13

May God help you in your shocking and ignorant beliefs. Trump lost. There is NO proof otherwise. It is sad that Trump did not concede as any mature adult would. It’s shock that people like you are deluded to believe he won.

Thatsjustwhatithink · 16/08/2021 19:14

I think it took a lot more decisiveness and will power to actually remove troops than the waffle that trump and Obama carried on with. Someone had to be in power when the troops were removed. I'm impressed with Biden.

And I say this as a former soldier who did a few tours of Afghanistan.
