To think Joe Biden is an even worse president than Trump?

I realise Trump was appalling in many ways so this isn't a pro-Trump post really, and I know he was the one who put things in motion for the withdrawal from Afghanistan. But to pull out in such a sudden and shambolic way will without doubt be the direct cause of many deaths and other atrocities in Afghanistan, including the deaths of those who helped the US and other forces. I think it's utterly unforgivable. Can't think of anything Trump did with quite such immediate and devastating consequences. AIBU?

Trump is an idiot. And a hypocrite. He wanted to pull out EARLIER.

Trump was a great president; people are just loathe to admit it.

Biden doesn’t really know what’s going on.

Sorry, it is you that doesn’t know what is going on. Trump was NOT a great president. That was proven by the overwhelming majority who voted him out. Biden is very capable has a good team of professionals to aid him. Trump just had bumbling sycophants.

Trump thinks it’s wonderful and should have happened quicker.

Yes why is Biden getting all the heat when Trump started process

Lweji · 16/08/2021 16:50

The very first bill he passed was the erasure of women's sports.
He has no problem with convicted rapists using the girl's bathrooms and changing rooms.
Now he's sent hundreds of thousands of Afghan women and girls to their deaths.
He hates us.

Trump:
insults women, for... being women.
rapes women
installs pro-"life" judges in the Supreme Court
cuts funding for contraception
separates mothers from their children at the border
paused Obama's equal pay bill
rewarded rich people's in his tax bills rather than working families
...

@Justanotherlurker

I'm disgusted with the UK also for not saving the translators who will surely be tortured and murdered. The risk to women and children too.

Do people only get their news from outrage re-tweets or something?

We are currently donig that, Priti Patel pretty much made the commennt yesterday

mobile.twitter.com/Telegraph/status/1427181017182445570

The Ambassador is only one of a handful left sorting this out, the US one disapeared yesterday.

Too little too late. Ben Wallace has already stated that most can't be saved and there are no plans to get troops in to rescue them. And now, just read on BBC news that they are halting rescue efforts as it's too dangerous!

Yes he’s worse and likely has dementia. Clear from watching him. Not sure they should allow such elderly leaders.

Lweji · 16/08/2021 16:51

It's the complete failure to understand the true state of the Afghan institutions we had "built" (and thus the collapse), that is unforgivable. It should have been possible to withdraw without Afghanistan falling to these wolves, but Biden either did not know what was truly going on, or did not care.

See the article I posted earlier.
That was NEVER possible. Under no President.

Really? And what do you base your clinical diagnosis on?

Exactly. Some people are imagining a scenario they cannot even describe in detail and reality.
jasjas1973 · 16/08/2021 16:53

@MarshaBradyo

The deployment of foreign forces in Afghanistan was a relative low risk deployment

Really? I suppose it’s easy to say if you’re unaffected but benefit.

You didn’t answer how many more troops you’d send. US troops? Or do you want to send the European ones you mentioned earlier

You need to look at the US and UK casualty lists (in Afghan) over the last 5 years. The 455 uk lives lost were almost all pre 2015 - did you call for UK forces to leave at anytime before then? no.

Why do we spend 40 billion each year on the military (not inc Trident) if you never want to use them?

The troops were already there, under 10k inc contractors which i told you earlier.

Afghan forces doing the fighting, as they should.

What was ever wonderful about Trump. He’s down in history as the worst US President and America’s economy, healthcare and job figures show this clearly.
MarshaBradyo · 16/08/2021 16:55

As many have said to you but it’s not being read - U.K. and other countries follow US decisions. We would have stayed until they left.

Justanotherlurker · 16/08/2021 16:59

Trump was a million times worse. Trump had no understanding of foreign policy or to manage international leaders. He dismissed Covid as something which would just go away and his actions contributed to 600k US Covid deaths.

The US population don't give a shit about foriegn policy even during Obhamas years it was way down the list of priorities and he started muiltple wars.

Lets face it, this is geopolitics, the OP is just as bad as those who are trying to blame this on Trump such is the partisan nature of american politics.

If it had gone smothley a lot of the people starting the 'well actually it was a trump policiy' would not be giving him credit for it.

The people to blame for this are Bush et all who sold a war on dodgy lies, another 8 years or so and people will be being partisan over Syria etc.

The people so invested in shouting about Trump are just as cult like as his followers, neither really have any true critical thinking skills that they all like to profess.

UsedUpUsername · 16/08/2021 17:05

As they say, success has many fathers but failure is an orphan.

BrozTito · 16/08/2021 17:07

Assume you're cool with illegal abortion and child marraige then, Nanny. This is absolutely the sort idiocy i mean. Your political peers say feminism is 'woke'. Is that true as well?

BrozTito · 16/08/2021 17:09

And who TF is this "left' which holds all this power in the US? Old centre right biden and his super capitalist party?

LilacPurpleNails · 16/08/2021 17:10

Biden has dementia and others are pulling the strings. He demands questions before he publicly speaks, and even then he pauses and rambles out incomprehensible words. Trump was a sleaze with his history of playboy bunnies, but Biden is dangerous.

Obama and Trump made steps to withdraw from Afghanistan, but Biden pulls the rug out so suddenly… and he’s AWOL!! His sudden decision has resulted in innocent people dying. If Trump did this then the media would come down on him like a tonne of bricks.

For those who don’t think Biden has dementia then you need to watch some of his speeches:

Doodlebug71 · 16/08/2021 17:11

@Yourstupidityexhaustsme The second Americans withdrew, the taliban were back They never went. They just waited.

GiBlues · 16/08/2021 17:13

I’ll just leave this Trump speech from 1 month ago here

BrozTito · 16/08/2021 17:17

Yeahhhh so it is more old trans bollocks

gardeninggirl68 · 16/08/2021 17:17
**@gardeninggirl68* i'm glad the troops are withdrawing,we can't solve the problems out there, nobody has never got close to it* [sic]

Just pull out and leave civilians to deal with the Taliban? Who have already started going around executing the poor sods on their watch list?

Anyone who signs up to the armed forces knows exactly what they're signing up for. The civilians in those situations don't sign up for that.
Those poor civilians out in Afghanistan don't stand a chance.
its very sad and unfortunate. but the taliban were gaining ground weren't they? no shame in pulling out, look how fast they've moved in.

majority of uk personnel moved out years ago anyway, all we are doing now is helping get nationals out....2014/15 when we left....was there outrage about it at that time? i don't remember it....

Aspiringmatriarch · 16/08/2021 17:17

Ok just popping back on to make it clear again I'm not suggesting Trump was a good president and was particularly bad for women's rights, for his handling of the pandemic, stirring up racial hatred, and for being an abusive arsehole in general. I guess it was a case of anyone must be better than him, and I assumed this was true but can't get past the betrayal and utter incompetence of this withdrawal from Afghanistan. To me, it dwarfs almost any other policy and maybe because I naively thought the Democrats would show a modicum of respect for human rights, I'm all the more shocked at the callousness of leaving people to a fate I don't even want to imagine. Surely this is a scandal on a par with anything Trump did while in power? OK, maybe Trump wanted to leave sooner in which case the blood would be on his hands. But Biden and Biden's administration have ultimately done this, just given a big fuck you to all the women and children and innocent people left to be terrorised now. I'm in disbelief at how callous and irresponsible this is, and the fact is that it will make the world a less safe place for us all in the coming years too.
