I’ve just been reading about the Nazwat animal rescue founder desperately trying to get his Afghan staff out of Kabul. They will likely be executed if they cannot get out.

Then I read about this wally and I feel really, really angry. He chose to go. He has been rescued when plenty more won’t be. He has taken the space of someone who may now die because they couldn’t get out.

But that’s ok - he got his edgy selfies with guns and his near death experience to talk about and make a bit of cash from. What a laugh eh mate?

Oh, my point wasn't that he wasn't actually there. More that despite him SM posting, decrying the lack of help from UK governemnt (who were also running for their lives), and the fact that he has actually been rescued by UK military, there are/were still other organisations trying to find him, to trace him through Afghanistan, Kabul, to ensure his safety.

Yet more time and effort that could have been spent saving someone else.

Just a side note in case anyone wants to look this charity up, it's actually Nowzad. It's an animal rescue (dogs, cats and donkeys) and is run by an ex Royal Marine (so a Brit obv). He won't leave until his (local) staff are out and safe. They have female vets who are particularly at risk

Realistically his local staff won't be evacuated @Errno And sadly there's no reason why they should take priority over any other Afghans.
The only Afghans that the UK and US can attempt to evacuate are those who have put their lives at risk by working for them. And they can't even be certain of getting all of those out, never mind considering it for staff at a random animal rescue.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but there is absolutely no reason why they should be prioritised. The whole thing is awful, but this ex-marine is being entirely unrealistic I'm afraid.

Not sure how this situation escalated??? Its been 20 yrs. There has been a travel ban on Afghanistan since i was 21!! Are you joking me.
Oh lord. This kid is a dick ( though apparently back now anyway and i hope the sod gets billed) . He would never have got a visa, and was a walking target. He should never have been there.
It annoys me all these opinions without a single ounce of knowledge. Not the slightest bit.

@saraclara I don’t think I said they should have priority over other Afghans in danger. However I’d much rather the trained female Afghan vets of this random animal charity were prioritised for rescue over this attention seeking twerp who went out to Afghanistan for a bit of a laugh and some cool photos. He could have easily cost the lives of those rescuing him, and has most likely cost the life of someone whose place he took on the plane. He should be hanging his head in shame, not plastering photos of himself and his jolly caper all over socia media. What an utter fuckwit.

My fingers are still firmly crossed for all the amazing staff at Nowzad even if it’s now too late for their dogs and cats.

This is the "rapeugee" comment. Can you link to where he posted it? Or any screenshots or anything else pinning it on him (not Mumsnet quotes!). I've looked and can't find it.
