To think having shopping delivered before 8am on Sunday is not very neighbourly?

We've been away for the last two weekends so I'd blissfully forgotten about this really annoying routine my relatively new neighbours have. Then I heard the "slide crash" of the Tesco van this morning at 7.36am Angry.
She's on mat leave, he wfh and certainly doesn't seem to be confined to home office all day everyday, so they really don't need it delivered this early on this particular day.
I usually have to get up at about 8.15 on Sundays to cart my DC's off to various sporting activities. But in the week I have to get up at 7.15 so that extra hour is cherished. Only now I'm awake thanks to the dulcet tones of crates being unloaded.
This is lighthearted btw, I know they are more important things to worry about. But bloody hell it's a bit rude!

Are you sure they even realise how noisy it is? What sort of house do you live in? Is it likely that it’s only you being disturbed?
I’ve lived in various flats and houses over several years and have never heard delivery drivers - quite the opposite!

TractorAndHeadphones · 15/08/2021 15:50

Oops sorry just read - it’s outside your bedroom window

I’ve never had a street facing bedroom… that’s probably why…

I complain all the time that the developers saw fit to build the bedrooms street, and sunrise facing whilst leaving the living room and kitchen in the dark for most of the day - we need to use lights nearly all the time - and overlooking a silent cycle way and allotments. Such an odd decision.

This thread beautifully illustrates exactly what is wrong with society these days; nobody gives a shit about their neighbours, and all think they can just do as they please.

I got woken up yesterday at 6:45 am by the new tenants next door (non attached side) moving in. Not just banging stuff down the steps but plenty of shouting. Why does everybody need to shout all the time? They must have moved from somewhere close by because the van wasn't gone for long at all between drops, so why 6:45?!

I wish we could afford to move to the middle of nowhere Sad

FedNlanders · 15/08/2021 16:33

I always get mine early or late. Never even thought it would be annoying the neighbour's

Some delivery drivers are really loud and inconsiderate. I would try to covertly film them esp if your window is down and then send it to Tesco. If the driver was considerate I doubt you'd hear much at all.

Oh for gods sake! Videoing and sending it in!

Were you a massive snitch at school as well?

thankyouforbeingafriend · 15/08/2021 17:10

Agree with you @yondergoat most people don't give a shit about anyone else but themselves. We moved rurally just before the first lockdown and although its not perfect it means I don't have to worry about chappy neighbours anymore.

Sadiecow · 15/08/2021 17:45

@thankyouforbeingafriend I bet your old crappy neighbours were pleased to get rid of you as such a crappy neighbour!

I'm sure your current location isn't perfect, people like you rarely find anything perfect!

It's live and let live! People have different needs and wants, not based on your idealism's.

Sadiecow · 15/08/2021 17:45

*your chappy neighbours!

thankyouforbeingafriend · 15/08/2021 18:31

Not sure what part of my post indicated I was a chappy or crappy neighbour Sadiecow Hmm but whatever.

Sadiecow · 15/08/2021 18:52

@thankyouforbeingafriend it was tour reference to your "chappy" neighbours, so you moved rurally!

Why were they "chappy"?

thankyouforbeingafriend · 15/08/2021 19:00

I've no idea Sadiecow assume it was my autocorrect being polite ConfusedGrin

Sadiecow · 15/08/2021 19:07

@Macncheeseballs

It's massively unreasonable and entitled, I try to keep anything noisy inside the same hours that workmen are allowed to work
So no deliveries on a Sunday? Clearly you're in the minority as all supermarkets offer slots outside those hours and they are often fully booked.
Mrstamborineman · 15/08/2021 19:41

You a being ridiculous to think neighbors need to arrange their life to suit you.

They run on a schedule, they are doing job. Jeez
lannistunut · 15/08/2021 21:17

LMAO at the idea that getting a delivery on a Sunday is 'entitled'! For some it is their only fucking day off!

Really? I do wonder about the grip on reality of some posters

It's not just on a Sunday, but early Sunday morning when people are sleeping.
MoiraNotRuby · 15/08/2021 21:27

I love getting woken up early by busy people, when I can stay in bed. Lie ins are much better when you are awake to enjoy them.

JaggedLittlePilI · 15/08/2021 21:31

I pay for the cheapest slot and normally that's a late one. Wouldn't really occur to me that it might wake neighbours, although I suppose it could. I kind of thought whatever slots were offered were fair play.

lannistunut · 15/08/2021 21:32

@Gwenhwyfar It isn't that early, people will probably cope, if they are knackered they will go back to sleep. I think people can be overly precious.

They are fair play - my neighbours get a late delivery, it does wake me up sometimes, that is life. Still prefer living here to the quiet village we used to live in!
doadeer · 15/08/2021 21:33

I live on a busy street so wouldn't even notice
