Men having kids in their 20's

I'm asking purely because I'm curious and being a bit nosy but from your experience would you say in today's world is it not that common for men to have children when they are in their 20s. I'm asking because I've noticed a lot of footballers seem to have children when they are young. I'm just wondering from your social circles how common is it for men to have kids before the age of 30?

Is bogan Australian slang for chav?

Yes it is. Also the poster who said people call themselves a bogan in Australia was right, in the sense that Aussies will use it to take the piss out of themself. It is a different thing entirely to call somebody else a bogan and is often used in a disparaging way.

Most bogans are proud of being bogans though? High viz worn to the pub, that sort of thing. It's an entirely different context in Aus. Working class rather than chav, I think.

Not quite the same.

Chav, being an English insult, implies inferiority, degeneracy criminality, white trash

Bogan, being Australian, just means unrefined, boorish, uncomplicated, white working class.

Shane Warne is a bogan. Examples of English bogans would be Paul Gascoigne, Vinnie Jones, Phil Tufnell (showing my age there) or Tommy Robinson.

A bogan would probably return a lost wallet; a chav never would.

(And I had my first DC at 29 fwiw).

Where I was living when I first started work, it was extremely common for men to have children in their 20's and late teens, my dad included. In fact my DH became a dad at 30 and felt like a much older dad compared to some of his friends.

Most of the men I know who have had children young (and I know dozens) work very hard.

Correction. Shane Warne is a cashed-up bogan Grin

I accept the correction and won't set Sharon Strzelecki on you.

He's also evidence that bogans can be great artistes, in their way. In contrast, a true chav would be too busy hanging thing rubbish-strewn recreation grounds to learn any sport.

It was definitely used as an insult in the Slap.
