I’ll go first:

Losing a pet is not the same as losing a child.

Now your turn!

Pretty much anything to do with step children and agree with PP, not being able to have more than one child is not the same as being able to have none at all.

VienneseWhirligig · 07/08/2021 11:11

@LifesNotEnidBlyton I remember DH having an argument over this with a social worker once - she was saying that mums are always supported to keep their children where possible of course, dads are the second option, and DH raised the same point as you - if the mum abandoned the kid/family, and dad was a competent and loving parent who never left why would the default be mum? And she said well that never happens. It happened to him with his first wife, and he brought the kids up alone (one was a baby) because she didn't want them. It does happen.

SudokuMania · 07/08/2021 11:11

"I'd like to arrange a nice baby shower for my friend..."

LuckyHarold · 07/08/2021 11:12

Oh and admitting your secondary school child doesn't have a dedicated study space or desk in their room 'BUT HOW WILL THEY PASS THEIR EXAMS WITHOUT A DESK?!' 🙄

PostMenWithACat · 07/08/2021 11:12

That your own dh is nice, you have a nice home and your children are generally well mannered and quite bright. The woman has no input into the output is being smug.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 07/08/2021 11:12

It's really, really ok to wear pyjamas for without knickers. You won't get bum rot.

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 07/08/2021 11:14

Pets aren't the same as children (and I say that as a cat-loving, child free woman).

It is rude to leave your shoes on in someone's house if they've asked you to take them off.

happinessischocolate · 07/08/2021 11:16

@Couldhavebeenme2

'I feel like a single parent'
Oh that's a good one 😡😁
LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 11:18

That a child can have something that isn't water sometimes and not end up obese, diabetic, with no teeth, and ADHD like after effects for years to come.

deeplyambivalent · 07/08/2021 11:19

Circumcision.

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 11:20

That a man should have equal say in things to do with his children.

Because on Mumsnet the go to is "Just do what you want with the kids and DH can suck it....".

Couldhavebeenme2 · 07/08/2021 11:22

Any ideas for all this leftover chicken?

ChunkySloth · 07/08/2021 11:22

Vagina/vulva.

It's ok not to have 12 showers a day.

ChunkySloth · 07/08/2021 11:22

It's ok to let the dog on the bed.

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 11:22

That a toddler can see an episode of Holly's Little Kindom or whatever a few times and not grow up to be an obese delinquent, with bad eye sight and low intelligence.

Fizbosshoes · 07/08/2021 11:24

an ensuite bathroom (as in a separate room with walls and door) is a legitimate place to use the toilet, or brush your teeth.

JaneJeffer · 07/08/2021 11:25

You don't need to use all those skincare products on your face.

People forget what a normal weight looks like.

Being a SAMH is work.

LanaDelBoy · 07/08/2021 11:26

That if you don't have a "run away" fund then you're an idiot and need one right now
Is this your uncontroversial opinion or did you get it the wrong way round Grin

DrSbaitso · 07/08/2021 11:27

Some people are confusing this for an "unpopular opinions" thread.

OaxacaChihuahua · 07/08/2021 11:27

Some of these are stretching the definition of ‘uncontroversial’ 😬

Men have to ask to go out with their friends but women can go anytime.

TheGenealogist · 07/08/2021 11:28

I don't like fabric conditioner and never use it. I don't have a tumble dryer either.

Changechangychange · 07/08/2021 11:28

@MrsRonaldUlyssesSwanson

A big tin of soup plus bread is a meal for one Grin
You mean a meal for six, surely?

My turn: it’s ok for children to eat fruit. An apple is not the equivalent of a Mars bar, despite the existence of fructose.

Antsinyourpanta · 07/08/2021 11:28

its ok to wash a pet bowl in the sink or dishwasher.

(People seem to have a problem with both options which begs the question how are you supposed to clean them Confused)

comebacksunshines · 07/08/2021 11:29

It’s ok to feel upset about not being included in social activities as an adult.
