I’ll go first:

Losing a pet is not the same as losing a child.

Now your turn!

Am I ok to make a lovely hamper for the happy couple getting married?

They’ve requested money/toasters/Sex toys but I don’t like giving those so I thought a lovely hamper with wine and chocolates and cheese would be nice instead.

ghostyslovesheets · 07/08/2021 11:31

Carbs are not bad for you

dottydodah · 07/08/2021 11:32

Dating a man who doesnt drive! Seems to split opinion on here somewhat! I think that many women (inc me really) would not entertain a Non Driving partner . However there is often a backlash !

Antsinyourpanta · 07/08/2021 11:32

Its ok to want to celebrate your birthday if you are older than 6.

Its possible to find some people annoying on social media and just scroll past without being personally offended.

Its possible to simply not have social media if you are offended by 98% of what people post

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 11:32

That if your two YO doesn't know all the scientific names for her vulva, vagina ect you're a bad parent because no will know if she's abused because she won't be able to tell you where.

Similarly, if an OP posts something like "I've had really sore oozing blisters on my lady garden" it attracts comment after comment like "Your what? I don't understand you, where on your body are the blisters?" "YABU to call it your lady garden." "You should post this in the gardening section OP." "What's a lady garden?" and no one is able to just answer the OP. You don't have to agree with her name for it and I wouldnt call it that myself. But ffs, if you aren't going to help and are going to clog up the thread telling the OP off then just don't bother, becuase she's obviously sore and uncomfortable already.

Monkeybusinesss · 07/08/2021 11:33

I don’t drive. I am an adult.
Cue lots of, anyone who doesn’t drive is a useless man/woman child who can’t function as an adult

KateF · 07/08/2021 11:34

Anything to do with hygiene (laundry, dish washing, cleaning) - guaranteed to bring out extreme opinions at both ends of the spectrum!

OaxacaChihuahua · 07/08/2021 11:34

I have a couple more:

It’s ok for adults to want to celebrate their birthdays

Similarly, it’s ok to want a nice wedding. Nipping to the registry office in your jeans over lunch and getting hitched in front of a random witness you pulled from the street is not morally superior to a fancy do in a posh hotel.

Have you started planning for Christmas yet?

I'm struggling on our 150k yearly income, help me figure out how to use a calculator.

Is it OK to use my neighbours bin without asking?

Chaotica · 07/08/2021 11:35

I introduced my new partner to my DC after 6 months.

comebacksunshines · 07/08/2021 11:35

Small talk with strangers ( including men) is ok, can even be enjoyable.

AdaColeman · 07/08/2021 11:35

What is the correct order for filling scones, cream then jam or jam then cream, and should butter be involved at all?

Monkeybusinesss · 07/08/2021 11:36

I answer the door when someone rings the bell.

burritofan · 07/08/2021 11:36

It’s OK to start weaning onto solids at 25 weeks and 6 days.

Monkeybusinesss · 07/08/2021 11:39

Breastfeeding a 5 year old is weird

5128gap · 07/08/2021 11:39

A parent working long hours outside of the home should not have to do an equal share of domestic and childcare duties if the other parent stays home full time.
In public places (eg resturants) the rights of other people not to be unreasonably irritated trumps the rights of DC to be a nuisance (running around, overly noisy).

PurplePlain · 07/08/2021 11:40

The correct room to clip toenails in.
Someone will say 'So unhygienic!'

Unfashionable · 07/08/2021 11:40

Having friends of the opposite sex is completely normal.

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 07/08/2021 11:41

@LanaDelBoy

That if you don't have a "run away" fund then you're an idiot and need one right now Is this your uncontroversial opinion or did you get it the wrong way round Grin
No. That's an uncontroversial opinion on Mumsnet because most people on here think you do need it.... So on here it's not controversial to think it. But it'll start an argument becuase the few people who think it is controversial will say so, so it's a bit of a backwards one I thought was something to think about.
Fizbosshoes · 07/08/2021 11:41

Its ok to find some aspects of parenting surprisingly expensive and complain about it

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 07/08/2021 11:41

@Howmanyusernamesonmn

The boxing looks barbaric and dangerous.

I misread this as 'box hedging' and thought 'whaaaat???' 😂😂
