Live in a seaside town. The Rock point quarter is a new development regenerating my local high street. I live here with children as do many others. Why do they need to see this and what's the message?
I think it's disgusting, my daughter asked why his toothbrush was that colour. Little primary children don't need to see this coming out of their street every day. I'm just disgusted.

@Ariennnnessa

The most offensive part about this is that his nickname is Mickey Scouse when he lives on the Wirral. Scouse my arse. Mickey Wool more like.

The Secret Society of Super Villain Artists. Disgusted? Really? Allow me to turn your attention to the daily news where there is plenty of real stuff to disgust you. Lots to choose from, take your pick.
What a reply to a parenting post.

Well, tsk. Send for social services to have a word with me. That will be interesting.

FolkyFoxFace · 07/08/2021 15:08

OP, you've moved to a neglected part of the Wirral and fallen for an estate agent's spiel about regeneration and big changes coming. While I wish more parts of Merseyside and nearby locations were actually given the funding to be bright and sparkly, it's not the case. It's better than it was but that's it. If you wanted seaside life, you'd have been better off in Brighton not New Brighton.

This isn't the Cotswolds. Your description of the area read like a bit of a fantasy.

If you're worried about your child seeing a cigarette then you've got bigger issues than some graffiti. I think you need to take off the rose tinted glasses.

MrsCatE · 07/08/2021 15:17

Did you put your foot through the Board and send them the bill?

@landmarklotto

You appear to be very defensive and have little knowledge of the area you have moved to

I know it's not liverpool. Another poster said they were from liverpool. To use the same tone you did with me, learn to read before commenting.

The other poster talked about deprivation and you made the sweeping statement that you'd paid an awful amount of money to live in NB

Your words: And we chose it for its quaint seaside vibes. I live in a large period property on the same street as this painting and it really isn't in keeping with the regeneration of the area.

You may not have confused deprivation in some parts of Liverpool but you appear to have gone into this recent move with both eyes closed

Can I ask (without being identifying) where you have moved to NB from?

lardyscouse · 07/08/2021 21:51

The first mickey was on the corner further down and was very funny.
Wetherspoons then bought that building (4 years ago and have left it derelict) and painted it out.
Little mickeys then started appearing on ‘wanted ‘ posters around Victoria road which is being regenerated.
Rockpoint have now bought the disused supermarket on the corner and are opening an anti supermarket which will house local businesses and not the ‘brand ‘.
New Brighton is really taking off thanks to dan Davies the man behind it all.
I love it.

What a reply to a parenting wind-up post.

Fixed that for you

Lots of people seem to think I have the wrong opinion of new Brighton and it's not like I describe it. I don't see a problem with it myself but some of you seem to disagree.
It's quite subjective don't you think? I think it's great but lots of you don't.
I suppose a bit like this art.
It's not ok for me to moan about that though is it 🤭

I think New Brighton is amazing and literally don't care if people think I'm wrong. 😂
Lavender24 · 09/08/2021 09:14

Seems like a slight overreaction.

Phphion · 09/08/2021 15:00

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s in New Brighton there were significant problems on the prom and surrounding roads with crime, drug dealing, underage prostitution, vandalism, arson and just general dereliction.

That is why your complaints about a not particularly attractive piece of art in an area undergoing significant regeneration seem a little overplayed and ungrateful.

Be glad that when you are out you don't have to explain to your child why one of the clubs is on fire, again. Or why you have to avoid walking past some of the arcades and pubs, and why you never, ever look inside.

Bellapupa · 09/08/2021 16:33

I see this every day in New Brighton - I ask people on the bus or on the street what it all means and what the place will be used for and no-one knows. I never noticed the fag hanging out of that guy's mouth before! I agree that it's totally inappropriate for kids and apart from that, a real eye sore.
