I wanted 3. I've got 2.

OP posts:
MummyMayo1988 · 03/08/2021 19:47

Wanted 4. Always loved the idea of a big family. Dh and I are both from big families. Never wanted an empty house.
Pregnancy 1 (age 21) - DS 9lb 8oz was soo easy. Easy Pregnancy, no sickness. Loved it.
Pregnancy 2 (age 25) - DS 9lb 4oz I was soo sick. Till about 7 months. It never really went away.
Pregnancy 3 (age 29 - fingers crossed a girl) DS 10lb 3oz. Pain. Soo much pain. He was also 15 days late. The tiredness was unreal too.

I still really want number 4 but don't think I can go through it again. DH would in a heartbeat.

@pinkyredrose

How did the people who didn't want children end up having them? Genuine question.
I wanted 0, I have 2. DC1 was agreed and planned because DH really, really wanted a child and I wanted DH more than I wanted to be child free. DC2 was a blow me side ways accident. Contraceptive failure and conceived the 1 time we had sex in about 3 months. Absolutely not planned, floored me and very much not wanted. I told DH I was getting an abortion and he very very reluctantly agreed. I couldn't go through with it and she is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me!
Justcashnosweets · 03/08/2021 19:51

I wanted 2 or 3. I have 1 and unable to have more. I am happy with my little girl though ❤

Tomasinabombadil · 03/08/2021 20:25

@Unfashionable

Wanted 0.

Had 0.

Regrets 0.

Same for both my husband & I. Even discussed with my GP when I was in my late 30’s (long, long time ago) whether I would be able to have a termination on the NHS without any fuss or counselling, if I fell pregnant accidentally. No medical issues with us, we just absolutely didn’t want children. Never did fall pregnant thankfully.🙂
smilingontheinside · 03/08/2021 20:29

Wanted 0, got 2. Should have stuck with 0

Houseofvelour · 03/08/2021 20:31

Wanted 3/4. After 2nd we decided we definitely didn't want anymore.

ConfusedCarrie · 03/08/2021 20:32

Wanted 2 DD and 2 DS. Got 4 DS

Unusualusernames · 03/08/2021 20:37

I'd have liked two but could only have 1 due to a chromosome translocation which causes miscarriage and health anxiety meaning I had a morbid fear of having a miscarriage. It was really hard for many years, seeing friends and relatives go on to have two or more but I've come to terms with it now and there's advantages of having an only child.

Idontcareboutthestateofmyhair · 03/08/2021 20:40

Mummyto2rugrats · 03/08/2021 21:26

Wanted 3 im youngest of 3, have two beautiful rugrats, still would love a 3rd but dh doesn't want anymore so not on the cards still struggling to not crave another especially as dd starts high-school in September

wlv12 · 03/08/2021 21:27

Wanted 4.

Lucky to have 2 following IVF and losses.

Starseeking · 03/08/2021 21:38

I wanted 4, have 2. Almost had a third, but a miscarriage at 11 weeks out paid to those ideas. Was a blessing in a way as I left my DP 2 months later. During the miscarriage, D+C surgery and recovery, he never even offered me so much as a cup of tea.

At 41 now I'm probably too old to have anymore anyway, plus I don't want the hassle of dealing with more men, as my EXDP causes me enough stress!

Emmasonej3791 · 03/08/2021 21:40

Always sort of wanted 3 when I was younger. Had two sons then an accidental but much loved daughter. I’ve now split with EXH and met a new DP but he has 3 kids too- so ended up with 6! Shock

Awalkintime · 03/08/2021 21:43

I wanted 0 and I have 0.

salcombebabe · 03/08/2021 21:48

As an older Mum I wanted one but got two - twins!! More than I could have wished for ❤️💙

MagnoliaXYZ · 03/08/2021 21:48

When I was a kid, I wanted 6!

When I was in my early 20s, I wanted 4 and thought I'd be done by now.

I've not even started! I'm mid thirties and debating going it alone before I get too old.

tendo · 03/08/2021 21:52

I wanted 0 and held out for the first 12 years of marriage. Then a very tiny baby was born in the hospital my husband and I worked at, whose birth mum didn't stick around. It was love at first sight for us and 7 years later she is our everything.

Dilligaf81 · 03/08/2021 22:00

Wanted 4 have 4 despite awful pregnancies although if the last one had been my 1st I'm not sure I could have gone through that again.
With the first 3 it was all affecting me whereas the 4th was just bad scan or test result after another and it was emotionally exhausting. The fear, crying whilst caring for 3 other under 4s was hard, hard work.

A decade later and its all been worthwhile.

Greenmarmalade · 03/08/2021 22:01

@tendo Flowers that’s so lovely

Maggiesfarm · 03/08/2021 22:06

Yes, tendo, lovely. Well done.

When I was thirteen I wanted six.

When first married I wanted three.

I had two and that was enough, very happy with them.

mellongoose · 03/08/2021 22:12

Wanted 3. Have 1. Had one late loss. Love my 1. She is the reason I was able to go on. One day I will tell her about her sister.

I wanted 4, and ideally 4 boys. I have 2 (both boys) and very sadly can't have any more due to bloody cancer. I'm not devastated or anything as the two children I have are happy and healthy and I love them more than anything, but I occasionally have a wistful 'what could have been' moment. My youngest would have been a fantastic big brother as he is so caring. My husband and I have talked about possibly fostering or adopting in the future xx
