Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

Time for that much needed glass of prosecco OP!!!

crowsfeet57 · 01/08/2021 17:15

God, that reminds me of our arsehole neighbours where both teenagers had a car, both parents had a sensible car, and both parents also had a Fun car each

When we moved into our first ever home with our own drive the family opposite (without a drive) had eleven cars. Eleven fucking cars for a family with two adults one teenager old enough to drive and two younger children not old enough to drive.

I hung a flag out of the window the day they moved out! (Many years later)

bettytaghetti · 01/08/2021 17:17

Can't help with the CF car owner but can highly recommend HF-W's recipe for Yorkshire puds from his River Cottage Meat Book. I halve the recipe and it works perfectly for a 12 muffin pan. Also recipe says to use half full fat milk/half water but I just use semi skimmed milk.

2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
300ml semi skimmed milk
125g plain flour
1/2 tsp salt

I use one of those protein shaker/blender bottle thingies to mix it up in and then it's easy to pour into the pan when ready.

Heat oven to 240degC. Put pan in with a little oil in each muffin hole from the meat you've cooked when it comes out to rest (can use olive oil instead). When smoking hot (about 5-6 mins), pour the mixture in about 1/3 to 1/2 way up each hole.
Put in oven for 18 minutes.
Obviously not all ovens are the same so timings could vary a little, so check by using oven light and window rather than opening the door.

Good luck getting this situation sorted Op!

very much like our old neighbours.

they do have a drive that fits 2 cars. So the others (in various states of repair) are on what used to be their front garden (they took down the wall to accommodate) and rotated in the street to try and avoid parking charges. It must have been tiring to move cars around in 2 hour slots as they refused (or were not permitted to) buy resident parking permits.

A family moved into a house opposite us - their house has a huge garden at the back, and a large garden at the side (relevant). Parking for 5/6 cars on the drive. They have 5 cars - him, her, two teens and a sports car.

There are 6 spaces on the street for use of three houses that don’t have allocated parking and any deliveries/visitors etc.

They concreted basketball hoops onto the drive and park on the street Angry

Looks delicious 😋

AffableApple · 01/08/2021 17:20

All of this multitasking - advice for OP, recipes for Yorkshires, subliminal cavery messaging... and the CF can't even do one job - to collect his own flippin' car.

AuntLydiasNewHairdo · 01/08/2021 17:23

Toby carveries all over the country are wondering why they're so busy.

armanted · 01/08/2021 17:25

Did you eat all the potatoes before you took the pic OP?

I'm worried you only had one.

catndogslife · 01/08/2021 17:25

Just a thought OP, but you could try going on the DVLA website and check if the car is taxed and has a valid MOT.
DVLA are very good at towing away untaxed vehicles.

BlueLobelia · 01/08/2021 17:26

I am thinking of a full on roast tomorrow. Today was meant to be cod in parsley sauce, but I was so riveted by this thread, other threads, the Olympics on tv and a couple of glasses of prosecco, i forgot to go to Aldi.

[wanders off to see what the Dcs are doing as they have been quiet for ... like.... hours ...]

They won't be bothered as not on a public highway.
GizmoGremlin · 01/08/2021 17:30

Get underneath it. 19mm socket and a bucket, drain the oil out. Put bung back in, wish him good luck when he leaves, he will need a tow truck within 10 mins 😂

Thats a slow process the car will be long gone before the DVLA even look at it. Besides its on private property

Only on a public highway….. so not relevant in this case

Unless it was CEO Richard Joseph. Check his pic online in case, OP. This is clever marketing.

This will be an unpopular opinion but in theory he has no leg to stand on if something happens to the car. As he cannot prove it wasn't in this condition before? I would be petty enough to do some not so obvious damage to it #sorrynotsorry
LavenderAskew · 01/08/2021 17:34

If the police aren't interested and it can't be legally towed away and it DVLA aren't can't tow is away. Does this mean then that a person can randomly dump a vehicle on another person's property and it then ends up the problem of the person in the property?

Coffeepot72 · 01/08/2021 17:36

What would the OP achieve by damaging the car?

GizmoGremlin · 01/08/2021 17:36

We have a ranger too and DP is a mechanic....although I promise we are not CF parkers!

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 01/08/2021 17:37

Nothing exciting to report on the car front.

I did not think of the sister not being real. Its a possibility I suppose. On the bright side that might mean he has not been out cycling this morning ignoring the collection of his car and is dead in a ditch too embarrassed to come and collect it and I now own a newish Ford Ranger 😀

As far as I'm aware the FC don't have plans to come but I'm going drop the ranger a message tomorrow see what they can do.

On the other hand if he wants to play who blinks first I am happy to do so. Currently I don't need vehicular access through that gate and don't for the foreseeable future. I can get out the top and go round off road. So game on little man game on.

The only problem with the long game is emergency access but I suppose if that was needed they'd just shift the car our the way and deal with the repercussions later.

Nothing. So many keyboard warriors on this thread who wouldn’t say boo to a goose in real life.

Yes. I think.
Mountainpika · 01/08/2021 17:38

Fill the car with Yorkshire puddings.

chesterelly · 01/08/2021 17:39
