Locked parking thread 2

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 01/08/2021 07:38

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

Op i hope you’re having a nice lunch. I agree with pps that he’s ‘winning’ in the sense that you’re (rightly) annoyed by the situation and he’s clearly too arrogant to give a shit. I would go about your business, ignore the Facebook lady, and do nothing until he apologises.

KateTheEighth · 01/08/2021 14:57

I think the "sister" is actually a MNer who coincidentally saw the FB post and is adding to the drama

🕵️‍♀️

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/08/2021 14:57

I wouldn't put it past CF to hire a car for a week so he can still get to work. Just to be (even more of) an arse.

Kinneddar · 01/08/2021 14:58

Honestly you've given him a chance contact the police and let them remove it

The police are not going to remove it. For one thing its on private land. The police aren't going to get involved.

Getting a vehicle towed away isn't straightforward. Under these circumstances if the OP found someone prepared to tow it there's a strong possibility they'll want payment upfront. Don't assume they'll just rock up take it away and bill the owner.

Towing vehicles away from private land is nothing like police towing away a car causing an obstruction

Pbbananabagel · 01/08/2021 14:58

Tomorrow- after having contacted the police himself to claim OP has stolen his car. (He won’t get anywhere with this but is trying for a fully offensive defence)

AllyBama
I’d be getting it towed at this point. Absolute wanker, he’s taking the piss and he knows it.

@Blossomtoes8
I do wish people would stop saying this. It’s illegal to have someone else’s vehicle towed away. Just like it would be illegal to hotwire it and move it.

I doubt it would be illegal for the FC to have it towed from their RoW. Especially on the grounds of emergency access required. So, I'd ignore the car being there, and let the Forestry Commission deal with it.

MotherofTerriers · 01/08/2021 14:59

I'd contact the police tomorrow, explain that it's still there, blocking access and you have attempted to contact the driver without success
If they aren't helpful I'd try the FC

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 15:00

But will the Forestry be nice, and simply tow it into the car park?

Kinneddar · 01/08/2021 15:01

I'd contact the police tomorrow, explain that it's still there, blocking access

But its not and even if it was its on private land so its not a police matter

CatkinToadflax · 01/08/2021 15:01

What’s all this betting on OP choosing just one roast meat? Isn’t the whole point of going for a Toby that you get a giant pile of at least three meats (and the largest Yorkshire puds you’ve ever seen and two different gravies and at least three types of spuds and numerous unidentifiable oven baked vegetables in thick creamy sauce) or am I just showing myself up for the greedy individual that I am? Blush

yoursfroobly · 01/08/2021 15:02

I'm reading in disbelief ........!

Pellewsmate · 01/08/2021 15:02

I think this CF has lost any right to anonymity. Post a photo of the whole car with it's number plate showing.

LouLou789 · 01/08/2021 15:02

I think I’d go straight to the FC in the morning. After all, the police were told last night and were supposed to be telling CF to move it.

MoonlightWanderer · 01/08/2021 15:03

Thanks for the update!

My guess is that he will turn up in the evening demanding his car back as he needs it to get to work the next day.

WiddlinDiddlin · 01/08/2021 15:04

I reckon you are in for the long-haul here as I don't think having his car locked on your driveway is inconveniencing him at all at the minute and won't until possibly this evening or tomorrow morning.

I also reckon he is hoping he will pop back and find the gates open and no one there so he can drive away without having to apologise or explain his wankery behaviour.

HaveringWavering · 01/08/2021 15:04

I love a roast. I don’t do cavrvery though but perhaps a carvery takeaway may be ok

@icelollycraving I’m intrigued. What is it about carveries that you object to if it is not the food?

BlankTimes · 01/08/2021 15:06

I wonder where he works?

There are lots of roles where an employee who behaves so unreasonably could be said to be bringing his firm into disrepute.

His behaviour is timestamped and documented on here and on FB, so he cannot say there was any misunderstanding. He has been recognised on FB because his sister contacted the OP, so someone contacting his boss about his behaviour is perfectly feasible.

In addition he's wasted Police time by having to be traced because of his own conceited behaviour.

The longer this goes on, the worse he's making things for himself.

Take your time with your lunch OP and enjoy every mouthful.

BruceAndNosh · 01/08/2021 15:06

Pretty sure the Forestry Commission will know how much care they need to use to move the car out of their way...

Lulola · 01/08/2021 15:06

I’m back to my original thoughts of bird seeds on the roof and a pile of horse manure between the gates and car that he will have to shift to the back of your stables because the car was blocking the way.

Don’t reply to any more messages, he will have to eventually turn up.

GojuRyuLover · 01/08/2021 15:07

Maybe because it's like a buffet? And other people can pick at the food before you. That's why I don't like carverys/buffets
squid12346 · 01/08/2021 15:08

Either he's seen this on here or is do arrogant that he can't let you win by coming grovelling. At this stage I would get it towed and he can pay to get his car back. Let's hope he needs it for work tomorrow and will be screwed without it!

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 15:08

I think for the last 18 months carveries have not been on a 'serve yourself' basis but instead have been 'tell the server what you want, and they'll slice / serve it in front of you from the other side of the counter"

ifIwerenotanandroid · 01/08/2021 15:09

What do we win in the sweepstake?

A carvery dinner?

With OP's DB?

With the CF?

Someone from this thread popping round to make us perfect Yorkshire puddings?

A chance to meet the 'third of the size & 100 times as angry' dog, who sounds amazing?

A car?

Mountainpika · 01/08/2021 15:09

Surely it's not Toby Carvery Takeaways but Toby Carvery Towaways.

BlankTimes · 01/08/2021 15:09

Do not do this, OP, but you're allowed to fantasize about it Wink
