Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

This guy is taking the proper piss out if you. I would be going out for the rest of the day just to be awkward! Hell I’d even park my cars in the car park and pretend to be out when he eventually comes knocking. What an absolute dick!

DeflatedGinDrinker · 01/08/2021 14:25

Ooooo what a fab sunday thread following eagerly. Cannot wait for an update.

AttaGirrrrl · 01/08/2021 14:25

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon

DB has surrounded his car with cuddly toys due to the apparently appalling lack of toy soldiers and is in the process of erecting a sign that says caution wild animals on guard.
Love this so much Grin

Hope you’re enjoying your carvery.

Namechangecharlie999 · 01/08/2021 14:26

Please don’t let him get away with it. He needs to be inconvenienced not just him inconveniencing you!

TheSandgroper · 01/08/2021 14:26

Mumsnet is full of women with something to say about their cycling partners but this bloke must surely come under his own subheading.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/08/2021 14:26

Wouldn't it be deliciously ironic if he were to suffer an injury while cycling that required access through the OP's gate to rescue him?

SeeYouInFive · 01/08/2021 14:30

The arrogance is something else.

Honestly, just stop spending any more time and energy on sorting this out. He knows where his car is. He knows what he’s got to do to get it back. For whatever reason he’s being a massive prick about it, but that’s not your problem. If he still hasn’t been to collect it by this evening, make arrangements to have it towed tomorrow. Do t even bother telling him. He’ll figure it out.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 01/08/2021 14:30

Right then, he’s had his chance to get his car back sensibly but decided to bugger off for a cycle instead. I wouldn’t deal with him anymore, call a tow truck.

EvilPea · 01/08/2021 14:31

My god the absolute arrogant fucker.
He’s doing this completely on purpose to make you pay and win isn’t he.

What an absolute cunt. His poor kids and family putting up with that complete bell end in their lives

loobylou10 · 01/08/2021 14:31

"The thing is HE IS WINNING at this....sadly....

And you are letting him :(

I wouldn't do anything more, don't put toys out, don't engage with sister, stop running around trying to find out who owns the car. JUST IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE until he comes to your door and apologises.

Leave the car alone, got out an refuse to engage with anyone other than him. Even if it takes a week."

@Loubilou09 - I couldn't agree more with my MN namesake. Pretend it's not happening now, go about your life and wait for contact. Dick head.

TurquoiseDragon · 01/08/2021 14:32

@sandragreen

Yeah I am not convinced the "sister" is legit and not just a random local Mumsnetter having a laugh at your expense OP. I would block her on FB, block the gates and go out for a few hours.
Even if not legit, I bet the bloke is still hanging around anyway hoping the OP will leave the gates unlocked at some point, so he can saunter in to get his car.

Love, love your DB! Is he available?

Totally agree with this - don’t engage any more.

I havent read the posts since I exploded with rage other than a quick skim.

I'm at the carvery now waiting for the rest of the family to arrive so will be awol for a bit. Will post pictures after 😉

There is no way he can get out. My truck is in front of the gates. The padlock cannot be cut off with bolt cutters. It's one of those massive heavy duty padlocks. If he happens to have a stihl saw he can cut through but then he'd still not get past my truck!

Your DB has style...
SunshineCake · 01/08/2021 14:36

Enjoy your lunch!!

Yorkshire Puddings are fine with anything but it is awful that people call them Yorkies.

happystrummer · 01/08/2021 14:38

Ahh that's the joy of yorkies....make too many and have the extras later with golden syrup...heaven

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/08/2021 14:38

Well done, OP. Enjoy your meal!

MagnoliaBeige · 01/08/2021 14:38

I’d be doing something to his tyres involving huge nails at this point.

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/08/2021 14:39

Can it be reported as abandoned after a period of time?

Whywonttheyhelpme · 01/08/2021 14:40

Enjoy your lunch with lots of wine. The CF can come back tomorrow after you’ve sobered up enough to move your truck.

In the long run, he is going to be the one inconvenienced. Do not back down till he has grovelled profusely!!!!!!!

Well done! I'm sorry this has turned out to be so shit, though. Not nice at all after you were so accommodating in giving him time to move the vehicle originally. Hope you have a really lovely lunch/early tea. Flowers for you since he won't be bringing any...
StrongTea · 01/08/2021 14:41

Enjoy your lunch, can’t believe the arrogance of this man.

MeridianB · 01/08/2021 14:41

Also now wondering if the ‘sister’ is a hoaxer.

Just tune the whole thing out now. Enjoy your lunch!
