Locked parking thread 2

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

Bloody good point about him possibly trying to force the gate open. Good suggestion to park a vehicle there so he can't.

LavenderAskew · 01/08/2021 13:59

Wow! Really?

I would be tempted to text sister back "I didn't need more proof your brother is a spineless wanker*""

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/08/2021 13:59

This gives me the rage and it's not even my property! Perhaps, OP, you can get someone else to park over the drive and then, when he deigns to come and get his car, you can say that you don't know who's car it is and isn't it annoying when people leave their cars causing an obstruction?

Then don't let him have the car too easily. Please inconvenience him for this. Make him come back tomorrow and YOU state the time he needs to be there, like 7am or something. Don't let him dictate any more terms. He's being an even bigger dick now, I didn't think it was possible.

Fernando072020 · 01/08/2021 14:00

This is the first time I've felt proper proper rage for you, op! He's clearly doing this on purpose to wind you up and trying to "win". What an absolutely horrible man.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 14:01

CF isn't actually out cycling somewhere in the forest. CF is cycling in lazy circles, popping back to the car every five minutes or so to see whether the gates have been opened yet (he's hoping the OP will leave the gates open when she goes out). He'll be close by, watching, you can be sure of that.

GnomeDePlume · 01/08/2021 14:01

Can you add another chain to the gate before you go in case DF finds CF intimidating and let's him out

LJC1234 · 01/08/2021 14:01

@BananasAboutBananas

And also remove the toys and sign - don't allow him to think that you think this is funny. Seriously, he's fucking outrageous.
Totally agree with this. I think this will make him think it's ok and you find it funny

So cross for you!

I would reply to the DS and say no one turned up the car will be removed by FC

CallmeHendricks · 01/08/2021 14:02

Have you noted down the number plate? Just in case he breaks open your gate and causes damage.

Howdidigetsoold · 01/08/2021 14:02

Are you good friends with the forestry people? Could they say they need access and remove the car for you?

NeedNewKnees · 01/08/2021 14:02

@JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue

I think the same. He’s going to be awfully disappointed.
LivingInABuildingSite · 01/08/2021 14:02

I was going for tin cans on a string, like weddings, but with a sign he can’t spot easily, saying something like ‘I park like a dick’.

But this not even turning up is too much.

Wish you could get it towed and impounded.

Fiddliestofsticks · 01/08/2021 14:02

Cant you just call a tow company and have it towed? I know it costs money, but at this point, I would have it towed because it is blocking an access route and then send him the bill/take him to small claims.

andweallsingalong · 01/08/2021 14:02

"fine, I'm calling the tow company" would be my reply and I'd be tempted to add "is he always such an entitled arse hole?"

DroopyClematis · 01/08/2021 14:03

@MotherofTerriers

I've got some giant muffin tins - very deep ones - wonder if they would work for yorkshires
I use muffin tins.
SixesAndEights · 01/08/2021 14:03

Take the cuddly toys away.

Put the truck in front of the gates because I'll bet they come with bolt cutters when you're out (if they come).

Do not engage - what is it with folk constantly wanting the OP to write notes?!? This is just pandering to the crazy fuckers!

Pretend to be out until after bedtime, then go to bed.

Phone FC first thing tomorrow to tell them a large vehicle is blocking their ROW and hope they come and tow it somewhere and cause a bit of damage to it.

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/08/2021 14:03

And reply to the sister "Your brother has gone out to enjoy himself rather than removing his obstructing vehicle from my private property? Really?"

Post about it some more on FB. Get people behind you in support. His sister will pass on some of people's comments, I guarantee.

KarlUrbansWife · 01/08/2021 14:03

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon when you called 101 yesterday, did they tell you at what point you are legally entitled to remove the abandoned car from your property?
I'd be calling them again tbh.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 01/08/2021 14:03

@cazisalittlenuts

Just to add, I too am having a sunday roast thanks to the repeated carvery talk. Now, is it acceptable to have yorkie puds with roast lamb?
Absolutely. We're having pork loin. With mint sauce as well as apple sauce. Do what you wanna do. Be happy.

Thanks for all the Yorkie advice on this thread!

Wizzbangfizz · 01/08/2021 14:03

The fucking brass neck of him Shock

PyjamaFan · 01/08/2021 14:03

I love the Yorkshire pudding subplot. Grin

AmyDudley · 01/08/2021 14:05

Get it towed - its been abandoned.

I wouldn't leave the toys there - he'll think you are all having a joke together, whereas he has been unutterably selfish.

BruceAndNosh · 01/08/2021 14:05

Agree to move the stuffed toys (even tho they are hilarious).
Park truck in front of gates.
Leave note on his car saying you are not available to unlock the gate until 6. 43pm.

That's 6.43 precisely. Not before or after

Loubilou09 · 01/08/2021 14:05

The thing is HE IS WINNING at this....sadly....

And you are letting him :(

I wouldn't do anything more, don't put toys out, don't engage with sister, stop running around trying to find out who owns the car. JUST IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE until he comes to your door and apologises.

Leave the car alone, got out an refuse to engage with anyone other than him. Even if it takes a week.

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/08/2021 14:05

@CallmeHendricks

Have you noted down the number plate? Just in case he breaks open your gate and causes damage.
Good point. And plenty of photos of the car there behind the padlocked gates. Set up a camera facing the driveway too, so you can catch him in action?
boireannach · 01/08/2021 14:05

@Redtartanshoes

Open the gate? Not a chance.. I’d be nailing the cheeky fucker to it.
