Locked parking thread 2

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

Anybody else now fearing the disappointment of this CF turning up after the OP has gone out, and her DH simply opening the gates and letting CF drive away with zero confrontation?

Congressdingo · 01/08/2021 13:30

Now that the CF knows you're going out at 2, I bet he (if he doesn't send a sub) turns up at 1.59, to minimise the time available for a humiliating bollocking

My phone is annoyingly out of synch with the world, so it says 2pm and it's in fact 8 minutes to. I would forget this if I had to wait around for a cheeky fucker and leave when my phone said 5 to 2. Which would be in reality 12 minutes to 2.
And off topic if anyone knows why this happens and how to fix it I'd be grateful enough to buy you a carvery.

cazisalittlenuts · 01/08/2021 13:30

Just to add, I too am having a sunday roast thanks to the repeated carvery talk. Now, is it acceptable to have yorkie puds with roast lamb?

Sundancerintherain · 01/08/2021 13:30

A parking thread with added Yorkshire pudding recipes. The perfect sunday 🤗

It's always acceptable to have Yorkshire puddings!
Biblionerd · 01/08/2021 13:31

@Coffeepot72

Once the car has been removed, can someone PLEASE tell us the story of the women whose children used the trampoline and picnic tables? We need some more entertainment on a wet Sunday afternoon!

Definitely this, we need more CF stories to keep us going!!

WestendVBroadway · 01/08/2021 13:32

@cazisalittlenuts, Yes to yorkies with any roast dinner. Hubbie even wants them at Christmas if we go out dinner.

SnoopyLights · 01/08/2021 13:33

I would be tempted to tow the car several miles down the road right now, then when he / his sister turns up say "someone came and took it already."

You wouldn't have to admit the someone was you / your brother. Then just leave them to find it.

I mean, I probably wouldn't do it, but I'd be tempted to.

Mountainpika · 01/08/2021 13:34

Will he have to manoeuvre to get out? If so, OP and DB should stand one in front and one behind the car, waving their arms this way and that to guide him out. There's nothing more annoying than people doing that to you. Especially if they stand in front of you between you and the car you're parked behind and waving their arms. I might be an old woman but I know how to drive my car.
Any machinery, implements that have to be moved temporarily to the 'car park' while you sort out the place they've come from?

Sparklfairy · 01/08/2021 13:35

@Congressdingo I have an android so may be different, but going into settings and searching 'time' there's a toggle that says "use the date and time provided by your network". Is that it?

Slayduggee · 01/08/2021 13:36

24 minutes to go! He’s cutting it fine isn’t he!

Newestname001 · 01/08/2021 13:36

Please could I nominate this and the previous thread to Classics? Or is there a CF Topic now? 🌹

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 13:37

@cazisalittlenuts yorkies are acceptable with every single roast. Fact.

YanTanTethera123 · 01/08/2021 13:37

I use the recipe from my ancient The Time Cookery Book, purchased in 1977 (and pre-metric 😊), never fails!

Heat oven to 200°, pour a teaspoon of oil into each section of a YP tin or muffin tin if prefer small YPs. Heat until smoking.
4 ozs plain flour
1-2eggs
1/2pt milk/water (50/50)
Pinch of salt and pepper
Mix together until smooth, pour into tins, cook 35-40 minutes.
Never pour into cold oil, you’ll end up with useless flat pancakes!
Completely foolproof 😋

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/08/2021 13:37

Just lurking and adding some Yorkshire Pudding related chat .

My DS has Yorkshire Puddings with anything , and Yes - Christmas Dinner Xmas Grin

Brian Turner used to make them on Ready Steady Cook with the cup measuring method and added malt vinegar - his Mum's recipe . He didn't know why but said he didn't dare divert from her recipe .

Sunbird24 · 01/08/2021 13:37

There definitely needs to be a dedicated parking topic…

FenceSplinters · 01/08/2021 13:38

I wonder if he will even turn up.

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 13:38

Yes @KateTheEighth I agree - I was given that recipe by a Yorkshire man and have never used anything else since.

MotherofTerriers · 01/08/2021 13:39

I've got some giant muffin tins - very deep ones - wonder if they would work for yorkshires

BruceAndNosh · 01/08/2021 13:39

It's acceptable to have Yorkshires with any roast. I have been known to embarrass DH by asking in restaurants for a Yorkshire with my meal, even if it's not a conventional Roast.. (Assuming they are on the menu, I don't ask for them in a pasta place!)
Mountainpika · 01/08/2021 13:40

@SchadenfreudePersonified

"I'M NOT WEIRD!

And it's a Pfefferkuchen house, if you don't mind . . ."

My humblest, grovelling apologies.

(Pika looks down at herself to make sure she hasn't been turned into a frog.)

BruceAndNosh · 01/08/2021 13:41

He's late considering OP asked him to get there in 45 minutes.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 01/08/2021 13:42

I bet it's a case of I won't be told when to come, I'll come after 2 just to show her who's boss

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 13:43

So long as he comes by 3pm, as I have to go out then and I'm far too invested in this thread

yes of course

assuming it is not a digital watch, and has hands and a rotating dial

you pull the little winder out of the side with your fingernails

if it has two clicks, pull it out by both
and rotate it

if it has two clicks and you pull it out by only one, or pull it out by two and then in again by one, then it will adjust the date (if any)

in some cases the winder has a screw-down waterproof cap that you have to loosen first.

It is often said that you should only move the hands in a going-forward direction, not backwards. This can apply to some clocks, I don't know if it's true of any watches.
