Locked parking thread 2

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

OP have you phoned the CF? They’re very quick to deal with obstruction situations. Posting on Facebook was mistake, I’d remove that quick as it risks repercussions for you.

rosamacrose · 01/08/2021 12:55

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon cross posted!
So happy for the update and sorry for the impact this must be having on your family.

countrywide access is a hot topic at the moment

Ignoring the WUM, but I tell you what is a really hot topic and not just at the moment, that's security and crime in rural areas.

Intruders and theft of expensive garden, farm and animal equipment is a scourge on the countryside and a very expensive one at that. Security and animal safety is a constant problem.

Anyone with a licence to drive should have the brains to know that you don't park in front of gates regardless whether they're open or closed. If they're advised that they cannot park, then they should be prepared to face whatever legally compliant consequences result.

I really can't get my head around some people's way of thinking.

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 12:55

Uh, I meant phoned the FC not CF Grin !!

cazisalittlenuts · 01/08/2021 12:56
@BlueLobelia why though? Why do so many of you want to prolong the drama? Has the OP said she enjoys this? No.

OP has given notice to the CF to remove his vehicle with a time limit, and if it’s not removed by then, can tow it out.
Did you even read the ops post where she clearly wrote that she was advised by the police that she would be LIABLE FOR DAMAGE CAUSED IF SHE MOVED THE CAR. No, of course you didnt because you are too busy making up your own narrative, and being ageist, disparaging and generally just an absolute pain in the backside.

DishingOutDone · 01/08/2021 12:56

I bet he simply turns up gets the car and leaves, that's always how these promising threads end. Apart from that fantastic one linked to yesterday where the owners were forced to come and apologise (after being confrontational initially). But yeah, he will turn up, say oh sorry, shrug and drive off. End of. Maybe not today though by the sounds of it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/08/2021 12:56

@Mountainpika

He is the wicked step-father who took the children to the forest and left them there. The children are now being held prisoner by a weird old woman in a gingerbread house. She is at least feeding them well - and has a large cauldron of water on the fire to which she's adding assorted ingredients as she consults her ancient recipe book..........
I'M NOT WEIRD!

And it's a Pfefferkuchen house, if you don't mind . . .

PyjamaFan · 01/08/2021 12:56

I love the idea of following him home and parking on his drive.

Your brother is v funny. Grin

DishingOutDone · 01/08/2021 12:57

Do you think @GilbertsLuckySock is so called as they always turn up? As in a lucky sock ...?

(Shall I get my coat?)

LookItsMeAgain · 01/08/2021 12:58

AT this point @BlueEyesWhiteDragon, I can only imagine that you're looking forward to CF Parker being gone.
However, I would feel that leaving without a parting gift of some sort (a shovel of manure on the roof, or up the exhaust pipe or applied firmly to the underside of the wheel rims or better still, if there are hubcaps, put some behind the hubcaps and then reapply the hubcaps) just as an inconvenience to them would do the trick.

I would be making it very clear that they are never to park there again and if they do, it will be immediately towed to the field with the big angry bull in it and left there! They will not only have to find the field but then face the challenge of getting their car back too!

Billybagpuss · 01/08/2021 12:58

I would just ask him quite simply why he felt it was acceptable for him to expect you to leave the gat open and invalidate your insurance for his convenience.

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 12:58

@cazisalittlenuts if you’d RTFT you’d see that OP and myself have similar circumstances. And yes, I have seen the FC tow obstructive vehicles from our track. It does happen.

FenceSplinters · 01/08/2021 12:59

It would be a shame if he turned up to collect his car and someone else (unknown to you) had parked in front of the gates..l

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 12:59

@DishingOutDone it refers to a snooker player...

Killahangilion · 01/08/2021 12:59

He’s a lucky CF, that you’ve been so reasonable OP.

Where I used to live, there wouldn’t be much left of his car by now if he’d left it overnight.

What a pathetic male specimen he must be that he’s too cowardly to apologise and collect his car. I feel sorry for the woman that’s has had the misfortune to procreate with him. Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/08/2021 13:01

*you need proof of ID and that he's the rightful owner of the car(

This is actually good advice.

He (or his sister) could collect it and then claim that some random stranger contacted you and has stolen his car - and you are responsible.

It would be a way of "punishing" OP for daring to defy him, and could cause no end of worry.

MadeForThis · 01/08/2021 13:01

Is he making a point and only arriving with 5 mins left?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/08/2021 13:01

Sorry - bold fail

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/08/2021 13:01

Just adding that I've made up a batch of Yorkshire Pudding batter rather than getting the Aunt Bessies out of the frezeer , re-create the Toby Carvery experience .

*other Yorkshire Pudding brands are on the market

 • other Carvery establishments are available

My homemade Yorkshires will be inhaled by DS

Fernando072020 · 01/08/2021 13:02

@MadeForThis I was thinking this too. It seems like he's trying to make it as difficult as he can for op even though he's totally the one at fault.

LakieLady · 01/08/2021 13:02

@LemonJuiceFromConcentrate

Wow, I haven’t been to a Toby carvery since about 1983. There is one near here but it has a faded, sad look and is in a weird location so I thought it must be a hold-out from a chain on its last legs. Are they still nice in other places?

Anyway — I might do a roast tonight too now Grin

There's one not far from me, @LemonJuiceFromConcentrate. It was the choice for our team's Christmas lunch a couple of years ago. It was a bit school-dinnerish, tbh, and had suffered from being kept warm for ages. The roast potatoes were excellent though, and for an unlimited amount of food for under a tenner, it was decent value.

If it’s not their car, where would they get the keys?
2ndtimemum2 · 01/08/2021 13:03

Thank god there was a thread 2 I was afraid op had stolen the car and disappeared into the sunset never to be heard from again

MyriadeOfThings · 01/08/2021 13:04

To be completely honest there will be someone here whilst we are out who could let him out I am just being a dick insisting on before 2.

I wouldn't leave your DF on his own to open the gate to that man.

As some PP have said, it mght be him, it might his dsis who is coming or a few random blokes you've neber eard before (see the thread liked to yesterday).
I wouldn't want him to have to face that on his own tbh, esp if you know he is getting anxious easily etc....

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/08/2021 13:05

I'd do this. And also make it clear I'd only open the gate for the original driver. After all, you've seen him with the car, so know he's the driver, and you've no evidence that anyone is really connected with the idiot so you can't possibly release the car to just anyone. Because I wouldn't put it past an idiot like this to pull a different kind of stunt.

Yep!
