Locked parking thread 2

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

[quote ifIwerenotanandroid]harriet & demons: I'm going to look for that plant now! (I have a lovely NDN). I know it's childish but I always found this one amusing:

I think there's a need for a new thread (not a thread about at thread, thread but a thread inspired by a thread)

Plants with funny names - I can fill my garden off back of it!!!

Famousinlove · 01/08/2021 12:41

@GilbertsLuckySock called OP an attention seeker yesterday and has hijacked another one of her threads, stop replying people!

HyacynthBucket · 01/08/2021 12:45

When he (she) turns up OP take plenty of pictures of the state of the car while in their presence, before you open the gate. So he will not be able to later claim any damage occurred to it while it was on your property, which given his MO so far wouldn't be out of the question.
Then go and enjoy your day, what's left of it.

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 01/08/2021 12:45

No sign of parking jackass yet.

DB has escalated his inconvenience ideas to

  1. Being asleep on the car when he gets here.- maybe dressed maybe not
  2. Asking for a lift into town with a bike
  3. Following him home and parking on his drive
  4. Having set up a toy soilder "war" around the car and insisting on finishing it before he's allowed to leave.

I think secretly he's loving this.

I however have messaged the Dsis to say he's got 45 mins to get here as I have stuff to do before I go out.

To be completely honest there will be someone here whilst we are out who could let him out I am just being a dick insisting on before 2. We never leave the place unmanned. It's massively inconvenient but my DF has worked his heart and soul out here and although he's still physically capable of some things (albeit winding down) mentally he's in a decline and this seems to have created an anxiety in him especially regards here. He hates being away. He wouldn't come to any family events if it meant leaving the place unsupervised and even at todays meals after an hour away he'll be itching to get back.

@Cuddlyrottweiler

Anyone else think Gilbert could be CF Parker?
That would be spectacularly unlikely

Posters can disagree with the majority without being the CF in question

Number 3!!
GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 12:46

@Famousinlove you can’t demand that people don’t comment on the ads, that’s the whole point of them ! I’m also currently replying on other threads too at the same time, that’s the idea with lunchtime when you get a minute off.

BlueLobelia · 01/08/2021 12:46

Pls do number 4 of your DB's list.

Or

Pls just go out and tell CF to shove it up his arse.

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2021 12:47

I don’t think it’s much of a secret!

This. Otherwise Gilbert will fill another thread before we have a conclusion! Maybe that's his plan.

FenceSplinters · 01/08/2021 12:47

Get your brother to answer the door to him and say you’ve had to rush off in an emergency and he doesn’t know where the keys are.

Fernando072020 · 01/08/2021 12:48

Your DB sounds hilarious, op 😂

Good you on insisting before 2pm. CF, or cf's sister, should not be allowed to waltz up whenever they feel like it.

caughtinanet · 01/08/2021 12:48

I like option 3, load up your car with bikes and follow him home.

BlueLobelia · 01/08/2021 12:49

@FenceSplinters

yeah do this.

I'd be making it as difficult as possible.

and I'm sure having a randomer's car abandoned on the land doesn't help your DF' feel any less anxious about leaving.

Your DB is perfectly in his rights to be annoyed (as of you of course- just your not planning staging a war around the car Grin )

Though I suspect as many have said he won't be the one to show so your DB might be let down with all his plans!!

lastcall · 01/08/2021 12:50

You're being too nice, OP.

I'd email her and tell her he has 20 minutes oryou're leaving for the day. He can try again at 7am tomorrow morning. In person or you're not releasing the car.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 12:50

Are we sure this bloke and his kids went home? DH wonders if they could be camping somewhere in the FC woods, cannot be contacted, and will amble back to the car at some point this afternoon ...

Yes!
It's really souring and derailing the thread and we'll be lucky to get any update at all.

I've been following since the start and was really enjoying the interaction and wit, while admiring the OP for her willingness to keep us updated with a sense of humour.

Chrysanthemum5 · 01/08/2021 12:51

I think he will leave it until the last minute (and probably send his sister anyway). Personally I'd text now to say my plans have changed and I have to fo out back sometime in the evening - let him hang about waiting for you

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 12:51

@BlueLobelia why though? Why do so many of you want to prolong the drama? Has the OP said she enjoys this? No.

OP has given notice to the CF to remove his vehicle with a time limit, and if it’s not removed by then, can tow it out.

Biblionerd · 01/08/2021 12:52

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon it is not being a dick to insist it is collected at your convenience since you're the property owner and completely in the right! I cannot believe they've not been for it yet!! Whether someone is there or not is none of their business, you've told then when to be there, that's that!

bananafish · 01/08/2021 12:52

I expect op wants the car and CF gone as quickly as possible. They've already inconvenienced her far too much. I wouldn't be getting into any conversations with them.

fluffedup · 01/08/2021 12:53

Do options 1,2,3 and 4!!!

Reading about how your DF feels - yes that is the problem with my dream of rural living - I would be just like your DF. I'm bad enough in our suburban home after we had intruders in the garden. I constantly have to check it, felt a bit better after getting security cameras, but am secretly glad holidays are difficult at the moment. The dog next door is similarly on permanent red alert.

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2021 12:53

This. If it was me I’d be getting very bored with it by now.
Choux · 01/08/2021 12:53

Make the CF Parker squirm:

Why did you leave your car here when I told you I would be back in 5 minutes to lock the gates?

Do you think my signage could be improved so people understand it more? How?

Now reverse out carefully. I don't want you to cause any damage to my property.

By the way we will be following you down the lane but don't worry, we won't follow you home and park on your driveways. WE wouldn't do that!
