What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Gall stones.

Inthetropics · 29/07/2021 04:31

Migraines. Will sometimes be blind and have pain all over my face and teeth (and tge usual left eye) during a bad episode.

Derrymum123 · 29/07/2021 04:32

Trigeminal neuralgia.

CheeseandWine91 · 29/07/2021 04:49

Childbirth with appendicitis a very close 2nd

trappedsincesundaymorn · 29/07/2021 06:09

When I broke 2 ribs.

LyndzB · 29/07/2021 06:12

Gallstones and then pancreatitis

PhilCornwall1 · 29/07/2021 06:17

@Elys3

Trigeminal neuralgia is just awful
It's pretty grim Isn't it.

I remember when I was diagnosed, the doctor saying to me, "it's also called the suicide disease". I guess he missed the lecture on bedside manners.

Seasidemumma77 · 29/07/2021 06:39

Ruptured calf muscle worst, then toothache, then endometriosis, then child brth.

Purplesparkle34 · 29/07/2021 06:57

Gallstones. Was so pleased to have my gallbladder removed. Was so much more painful than childbirth.

ILoveFlumps · 29/07/2021 07:01

@sugarapplelane

Trigeminal neuralgia pain - awful
Absolutely this

Spinal headache after an epidural
God I had this and genuinely thought I was having a stroke. I've never felt pain like it. So sudden too. It took five attempts to get the spinal in and it's apparently caused by an air bubble getting in
sashh · 29/07/2021 07:10

Gallstones and ovarian cyst.

Not at the same time.

mintylovely · 29/07/2021 07:30

@Winniewonka if your muscles have gone into spasm with it then diazepam. I was frozen in agony, it meant I could actually move about and gentle movement will help.
I know I sound like a drug pusher but diazepam was almost miraculous in how much it helped me.

FunnyWonder · 29/07/2021 08:05

Reading more of these after making my contribution upthread last night and I'm wincing and desperately hoping I am never afflicted with any of them. Some are horrific.

I agree with pp taking issue with the term 'natural' birth. It makes the need for intervention sound unnatural and somehow lesser or a weakness on the part of the woman.

WoolieLiberal · 29/07/2021 08:34

Childbirth.
Dental pain.
Period pain.
Stubbed toe.

In that order.

monkeysox · 29/07/2021 08:39

Childbirth induction drip contractions before epidural.
Appendicitis also awful.

Flamingdingus · 29/07/2021 08:46

@StantonDrew

I've been through a lot of physical pain but what I have found most painful (literally feeling the pain in my body) was the unexpected death of my son Sad. I will never forget that type of physical pain (not to mention the mental anguish). It felt like my heart was being ripped from my body.
Just sending gentle understanding care. From one bereaved parent to another.

Back pain after failed operation

OneTC · 29/07/2021 08:50

Kidney stones

Apparently though I wasn't in visibly enough pain for them to warrant investigating it properly so they told me I'd pulled a muscle in my back and sent me home after giving me an anti emetic

Sunshinedaisymeadowsxx · 29/07/2021 08:51

Kidney infection, id take childbirth any day over that!!

incrediblehux · 29/07/2021 08:54

Tie between labour gone wrong with a back to back baby and shingles of the eye.

JuniperJuno · 29/07/2021 08:58

@monkeysox I know this pain all too well. I was induced a few months ago and the epidural failed. They kept increasing the pitocin even though I was screaming at them that something wasn’t right and I could feel it all. Grim.

eandz13 · 29/07/2021 08:58

Hitting my ankle with those lethal metal scooters as a kid. I remember that pain every time I see one and cringe.

Childbirth was a bit rotten but I chose to do it 3 times, I wouldn't choose to have kidney stones again though. I wanted to be shot dead with it 🤷🏻‍♀️

worktrip · 29/07/2021 09:10

Childbirth and migraine

Siameasy · 29/07/2021 09:12

You know those outdoor exercise equipment
There was a rowing machine one. I stupidly had a go. It propelled me forward, fast, onto the cold hard metal structure of the machine and I bashed my shins. I had my 4 year old with me and I had to act normal but I wanted to vomit. I couldn’t move and my DD was going mummmyyyeee 😭
