What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

i would say childbirth twice, first one epidural which left my legs paralysed for a while so scary, meaning then needing an emergency forceps, second birth happening so quickly having a very bad tear, passing out in A&E with an etopic pregnancy and being lucky enough to have had Fergie's surgeon visiting the hospital and saved my fallopian tube, bartholins gland cyst very painful, also a large cyst on my stomach having to have gauze removed after surgery , thought i would die with the pain, torn rotator cuff took 6 months to heal and 2 steroid injections still painful now, salmonella from some m&s mussels, spent a week in isolation in hospital, received a voucher from m&s for £3.50 and an apology, an operation to repair a prolapsed womb, needed morphine on a drip so painful, oh and nearly forgot about sciatica so bad i couldn't walk got stuck in the loo one night crying with pain

patchysmum · 29/07/2021 00:56

breast pain when i had a lump removed. I am sure they forgot to give me pain killers I woke up in agony

EKGEMS · 29/07/2021 00:57

Gallstone blocking a bile duct, then six days after that recovering from open abdominal gallbladder surgery, c-section and pancreatitis all at once-I couldn't roll over in bed without thinking I was going to die from the agony

Bipbopboo66 · 29/07/2021 00:57

Its embarrassing. Posible heart burn.
Gave birth to ds3 on gas and air.
Had a few day's at home, then a crippling pain in my abdomen.
Never felt anything like it.
Could not move..
Ambulance called. They took me and the baby in. Gas and air all the way.
And then it stopped.
Diagnosed as heart burn... Possibly.
It was far worse than the pain of giving birth.
Never had heartburn before or since...

The sinus pain when a plane descends. Feels like my head is going to explode. Only lasts about five minutes but it's the most excruciating pain I've ever experienced including gall stones and childbirth.

Clydesider · 29/07/2021 01:14

Sciatica. It felt like my leg was being gouged open.

And ovarian cysts.

JuniperJuno · 29/07/2021 01:17

Pushing out a 10.6lb baby with no pain relief 😱

Trapped Trapezius nerve in my right shoulder.. still slightly numb 6 years later
Removal of loose screw in my femur under local anaesthetic

ImInACage · 29/07/2021 01:17

Having my very twisted spine untwisted, several ribs removed and the being fitted with four very long metal rods and many, many screws to keep my back straight. Three big ops to do it all, each as painful, if not worse than the one before.

Clydesider · 29/07/2021 01:22

I have Psoriasis on my feet and the pain when trying to walk on heels that are so dry they are cracked wide open and bleeding is hideous.

nokidshere · 29/07/2021 01:28

I'm always in pain. I have RA, PSA, OA, psoriasis amongst other things. But the worst? An abscess on my tooth, I ended up at the dentist on Christmas Day.

SingingInTheShithouse · 29/07/2021 01:28

Septis in my hand & fingers. More nerves than anywhere else in the body I was told & every single one of them was on fire 🥴

After that, cluster headaches, gallbladder infection, trigeminal neuralgia & sciatica

VTechnophobe · 29/07/2021 01:38

Yep, gallstones (and I say that as someone who had an unmedicated, undiagnosed breech birth).

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 29/07/2021 01:44

The headache following a lumbar puncture. Got discharged and threw up on the train as had nobody to pick me up.

Closely followed by the pain of getting up and walking following emergency CS witj DD1.

Slipped disc
Gallstones

StantonDrew · 29/07/2021 01:59

I've been through a lot of physical pain but what I have found most painful (literally feeling the pain in my body) was the unexpected death of my son Sad. I will never forget that type of physical pain (not to mention the mental anguish). It felt like my heart was being ripped from my body.

WhipperSnapperSteve · 29/07/2021 02:02

Toothache
Gallstones
Trigeminal Neuralgia

Fireants · 29/07/2021 02:16

Broken collarbone and given cocodamol for the pain. The tablets made me sick so was heaving over a bowl and every heave separated the bone again.

nanny2012nanny · 29/07/2021 02:28

Snapping my fibula and tibula in half then waiting 4 hours for an ambulance with no pain relief

Cluster head ache

Herniated disc pressing on my sciatic nerve

Blocked bladder 1.8 litres drained

FakingMemories · 29/07/2021 02:51

Cluster headache

lovethisjourneyforme · 29/07/2021 03:55

Severe IBS episode.
Burst ovarian cysts.
Infected wisdom teeth.

StardewMelons · 29/07/2021 04:15

@Bipbopboo66 Not embarrassing. I know someone who suffered a heart attack and survived (they said it was agony)... One day (few years on) they thought they were having a 2nd one and had 999 called it was heartburn! Maybe anxiety added to it, panic etc, but happens.

Knobblybobbly · 29/07/2021 04:17

Fallopian tube twisting due to ovarian cyst. At the time I thought I was dying! Lying on the bathroom floor feeling faint and wearing, I remember just concentrating on my breathing. Eventually it just passed and the pain completely subsided. I think it was way worse than Labour pain but shorter, but admittedly I was off my barnet for most of Labour!

Shizen · 29/07/2021 04:20

Childbirth, followed by infected episiotomy

Knobblybobbly · 29/07/2021 04:21

I’m so sorry to hear this, can’t imagine anything more painful.
