Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Broken ribs, excruciating, can't move, can't sit, can't stand, can't lay in bed, hurts to breathe & don't even think about coughing or sneezing. I've given birth, broken ribs was worse, at least childbirth was relatively quick, broken ribs were like a slow death 😉

noideawhatusernametochoose · 28/07/2021 21:07

Childbirth and toothache. Not sure which is worse to be honest.

Blue4YOU · 28/07/2021 21:07

Massive placental abruption with 4 litres of blood in my uterus (and dead DD).
It was my first baby and the contractions were so severe they were none stop. Baby was forced onto my un-opening cervix. The blood was forcing my womb to near exploding point and irritating the womb even more. I was dying and I knew it. Even morphine didn’t help.

The other awful experiences in order:

Pressure placed on my cervix by a doctor when I was haemorrhaging after a completely separate op for dsykariosis (spelling?)

Recently had a tooth extracted after weeks of infection in a tooth
Sciatica
Adenomyosis which I still have
Frozen shoulder
Recovery from c-section

BanditOne · 28/07/2021 21:07

Childbirth x 2
And tonsillectomy when I was 39. Grim .

APurpleSquirrel · 28/07/2021 21:08

When the nurse tried to pull out the placenta by the cord but it was still attached - & the Diamorphine had worn of hours ago, no other pain killers, after a back-to-back Labour, followed by 3rd degree tear & post-partum haemorrhage.
Ended up going to theatre to have the placenta removed.

Gall stones

MrsMaizel · 28/07/2021 21:08

Gallstones and swollen ovary

crivit · 28/07/2021 21:08

I think one of the things I'm getting from this thread is that everyone's worst pain is their worst pain, so comparisons can be dangerous. I have several painful health issues and I'm still wincing at a lot of these.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 28/07/2021 21:08

Gall stones.

C section recovery x 2 were bad but nothing compared to gall stones.

sergeilavrov · 28/07/2021 21:08

I tore my spinal cord and had a catastrophic cerebrospinal fluid leak. The light and audio sensitivity were so severe 10mg hydromorphone didn’t make a difference: the pain was so bad I tried to kill myself by beating my head on the metal bed as hard as possible.

Weirdly, we laugh about this now. But no, never again. Nothing else has been close.

scaffoldingtheworld · 28/07/2021 21:08

Gallstones
Migraines
Child birth

In that order.

sqirrelfriends · 28/07/2021 21:09

Childbirth, especially the transition stage.

Joint second place goes to a very bad ear infection and a particularly bad migraine.

UnsureOfNC · 28/07/2021 21:09

@MyNameForToday1980

I found recovery from a tonsilectomy worse than child birth, a broken arm, tooth abscess or migraine.
Yes to this! Recovery from my tonsilectomy had me crying in pure agony, my whole body felt numb yet on fire. Horrific!!! Would take childbirth all over again to never ever feel that pain
frostyfingers · 28/07/2021 21:09

Childbirth
Gallstones
Diverticulitis flare/infection

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 28/07/2021 21:10

Back to back labour with DD

HaroldMeeker · 28/07/2021 21:10

Trigeminal neuralgia. If you'd offered to behead me, I'd have leapt at it. Took 6 months to be diagnosed and less than a week of gabapentin to totally free me from pain.

scaffoldingtheworld · 28/07/2021 21:10

@Cakeofdoom

I also stabbed myself clean through the hand and out the other side with a blunt knife severing my thumb tendon, that was horrific, but still not as bad as frozen shoulder
How the bloody bollocks did you do that to your hand?
randomchap · 28/07/2021 21:10

Gout, specifically when the cat leapt onto my toe when it was poking out of the duvet.

Thewholeshackshimmy · 28/07/2021 21:11

Toothache and dry socket. I would have happily gone through both my labours, which I had without pain relief, any day over dry socket

elliejjtiny · 28/07/2021 21:11

Post c-section pain. Although back to back labour comes a close second and induction on the drip a close third.

BananaRama990 · 28/07/2021 21:11

Definitely when my kneecap used to pop out of place randomly. Have no clue how many times it happened during childhood. Too many to count Blush
Severe migraine which lead to me vomiting 10+ times. Just couldn't stop

EL8888 · 28/07/2021 21:13

Ruptured ovarian cyst.

Tangledtresses · 28/07/2021 21:14

Broken elbow... smashed to bits
Labour felt like nothing compared

tedsletterofthelaw · 28/07/2021 21:14
  1. Induced labour with oxytocin drip
  2. Trigeminal Neuralgia
  3. 2nd degree burns from pot of boiling water falling into my lap
