What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

tooth ache was worse than labour for me

CambsAlways · 28/07/2021 21:17

Toothache n Gallstones

floatingon · 28/07/2021 21:17

An ingrown toenail

tedsletterofthelaw · 28/07/2021 21:17

Oh and special mention to the shoulder pain from trapped wind after c section which was by far the worst part of the whole recovery.

SecretWitch · 28/07/2021 21:19

Radioactive injections given into melanoma tumour for lymph node biopsy

Kidney stones

Torn back muscle. The pain was so severe it drove my blood pressure sky high. The nurse thought I was having a heart attack so rushed me in for an EKG. The pain was constant and unremitting even with Valium and codeine.

TommyShelby · 28/07/2021 21:19

Recovering from a second degree tear and crushed coccyx.

Daisy829 · 28/07/2021 21:21

Defo toothache. I’ve had 2 kids but at least that pain was over with quickly. On and off horrendous pain all down my face for a month was the worst thing I’ve ever had. Oh also the pain of removing said tooth when the anaesthetic wouldn’t take due to infection but I was determined to get it. The relief was instant.

Agadorsparticus · 28/07/2021 21:21

Pilonidal sinus. Huge egg abscess on my cocyxx that felt like 10 tiny knives slicing into the base of my spine everytime I moved. I couldn't sit or lie or stand for days until I had surgery to remove it.

RosesAndHellebores · 28/07/2021 21:22

Badly wedge fractured L1.

AramintaLee · 28/07/2021 21:22

The pain of a botched wisdom tooth removal which then got infected... and this is coming from someone who has had cancer. It was worse than anything I experienced during that time.

ghostyslovesheets · 28/07/2021 21:24

appendicitis - and the after care with an open wound flushed 3 times a day - paracetamol for the pain as I was pregnant!

currently having some post covid thing where my throat flares up (along with joints and scalp) and the pain is just unbearable (last night I was in tears) it comes on when I am run down - seems to be easing now

Dry socket

ForeverInADay · 28/07/2021 21:24

Childbirth and a doctor that didn't believe the anaesthetic wasn't working so used forceps with no pain relief.

upaladderagain · 28/07/2021 21:26

In reverse order childbirth, gallstones and, the clear winner by a mile, trigeminal neuralgia. I’d rather have the other two plus cramp, toothache and a stubbed toe all at the same time.

trevthecat · 28/07/2021 21:26

Oh I don't know which was worse, my appendix about to burst, ovarian cysts going or a kidney infection! All much worse than childbirth!

SadHippy · 28/07/2021 21:26

In this order:

Sciatica (because there is no relief, and it's even worse at night, so you never, ever get any sleep)
Bone-on-bone osteoarthritis
Burst appendix
Back to back labour, with a stuck baby

DwangelaForever · 28/07/2021 21:27

Gallstones and Back Labour are a tie for me

Vicliz24 · 28/07/2021 21:27

I had an accident and smashed the ball of my shoulder joint into five pieces . That was bad enough but I also ripped my tendons off my rotator cuff and my nerves were crushed. 17 years on . The bones are fine but the nerve damage is permanent. On bad days it can make me feel sick.

Youdiditanyway · 28/07/2021 21:27

Birth. I could cope with the contractions but I’ll never forget the pain of them crowning, it’s like the most intense ring sting ever 😂.

gluteustothemaximus · 28/07/2021 21:28

Infected wisdom tooth
TMJ from the wisdom tooth removal
Ear drum bursting
Childbirth
Period pain
Migraines
Sciatica
Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD)
Quinseys

No particular order. All agonisingly painful!

NanooCov · 28/07/2021 21:28

Gall stones.

Beckhamsmetatarsal · 28/07/2021 21:28

3rd degree tear when pushing, without having had any pain relief.

Youdiditanyway · 28/07/2021 21:29

I did have back to back Labour with DS1 as well which resulted in shoulder dystocia and forceps. I had an extended episiotomy so I was in pain for some time afterwards with the stitches which burst open and became infected. That pain is also up there.

I’d say quinsy was second worst. My whole head felt like it was going to explode and I couldn’t open my mouth.

blahblahblah321 · 28/07/2021 21:29

Oh god yes!! Envy
bevelino · 28/07/2021 21:30

Trigeminal neuralgia, the pain was so intense I was suicidal.

Beckhamsmetatarsal · 28/07/2021 21:30

Actually no, the childbirth wasn't the worst. The worst was having a chronic anal fissure for 7 years. It was like pooing glass shards.
