Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

OP posts:

Kidney stones and very bad period pain that had me writhing on the floor. Not at same time

Manycupsoftea · 28/07/2021 20:43

I think toothache too, followed by severe stomachache (I have IBS)

This is with 2 childbirths with no pain relief, broken finger and recovering from a chest surgery..

Bloodylovecheese · 28/07/2021 20:43

Childbirth/ laryngitis and tonsillitis at the same time/ back spasm pain

My worst pain was getting an in grown toe nail out. Worse than child birth. They actually inject you through yer toe!!!! Awful!
Baycitystroller · 28/07/2021 20:43

When a doctor manipulated my broken arm back into place. Only g and a. I thought I would die from the pain.

NoiceDifferentUnusual · 28/07/2021 20:43

Gallstones and blocked bile duct. Even worse than induced contractions.

inmyslippers · 28/07/2021 20:45

Tennis elbow

Uglykidflo · 28/07/2021 20:45

Frozen shoulder, just constant pain which codeine didn't even touch.

Recovering from a tonsillectomy and back of tongue biopsy at 53.

Radiotherapy burns on back of throat. Unable to swallow or eat so they put feeding tube into my stomach under GA. The pain when waking up from this procedure was indescribable. Went on for 2 weeks.

Cancer is now gone and is never coming back!!!!

olivethegreat · 28/07/2021 20:45

Almost blacked out with period pain . The pain was unbearable.

When a register stuck a needle into my ribs accidentally and I went into shock (then she asked if she could have the room and I could wait in the waiting room , this while I was shaking and crying uncontrollably)

olivethegreat · 28/07/2021 20:46

Registrar!!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 28/07/2021 20:46

Inflammation of the kidney when I was 15.

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 28/07/2021 20:47

Have had very bad period pain on multiple occasions that has had me doubled over on the floor unable to stand and have fainted a couple of times with it.

Steroid injection in my finger

Childbirth was pretty bad, but I still remember it fondly Grin

Libraryghost · 28/07/2021 20:47

Kidney abscess bursting. Apart from childbirth kidney pain is coming up a few times isn’t it? God almighty when the pain was at its most intense, shooting me dead would have been an act of mercy. I wouldn’t dismiss a stubbed toe or a banged elbow either, it bloody hurts!

Piccalily19 · 28/07/2021 20:47

My entire back going into spasm putting baby down. I was screaming, couldn’t move without excruciating pain but also had to carry on moving to get my baby to a safe place while I called my partner to come home. Shortly after I passed out from the pain it was that bad.
It tied with childbirth pain wise as at least with childbirth the pain slowly ramped up, but this was 0-1000 in about 0.01 seconds

Cccc1111 · 28/07/2021 20:48

A bodged nipple piercing, dislocated knee, childbirth

Anne8850 · 28/07/2021 20:48

Have had 3 c-sections, nasal surgery, impacted wisdom teeth removal plus a few more.

By far the worst was sciatica

BetsyBigNose · 28/07/2021 20:48

Multiple Pulmonary Emboli, felt like my chest was going to explode. Way worse than childbirth, cos that was less than 24 hours each time, I knew exactly why I was in pain and that it would end eventually. With the PEs, they went undiagnosed for quite some time and along with the pain, I could barely breathe and that's before you add in the anxiety it caused and the "sense of impending doom..."

Kidney stones were not my favourite, either.

TonkinLenkicks · 28/07/2021 20:48

Gallstones. And I say that confidently after two births!

lemonyfox · 28/07/2021 20:48

A back to back birth following induction on just gas and air, failed needed a csec!

also on par with the immediate aftermath of a double ankle fracture surgical repair. Felt like my leg was actually blistering because I was convinced my leg was on fire.

Delphinium20 · 28/07/2021 20:49

Gallstones. Was diagnosed when I screamed, "I'd rather push another baby out."

Gormless · 28/07/2021 20:50

Tooth abscess, very closely followed by gallstones. Vaginal polyp removal just with a local anaesthetic wasn’t a whole lot of fun either.

Giveszerofox · 28/07/2021 20:51

A haemorrhage from an aneurysm which burst in one of the arteries in my abdomen . I'm guessing it doesn't appear on the pain scale as most aren't here to describe it....

catfunk · 28/07/2021 20:54

A thrombosed haemaroid the size of a plum

Thebookswereherfriends · 28/07/2021 20:54

I had all my wisdom teeth removed in one op when I was 18. I remember just being completely unable to do anything but watch tv and wait for the next round of painkillers! Luckily, it was only that bad for two days.

YouKilledOinker · 28/07/2021 20:55

Closed hemorrhoidectomy.

I have a high pain threshold but that was another level and the pain lasted almost 3 weeks (at the unbearable level)
