What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Had a bad case of an ear infection. My ear was swollen and sore to the touch.

My 16 month old DD was happily playing on my lap and then threw her head back right onto my ear.

Pain exploded and I had to just curl up on the floor. Probably the closest I will feel to being a man kicked in the nuts.

Yes, I've been through child birth and that wasn't anywhere near as bad.

mam0918 · 28/07/2021 20:37

Acute kidney injury from Sepsis was by far the worst pain (med free childbirth doesnt even compare) and I nearly died from it and still suffer issues now so pretty serious.

Kidney are an INSANELY sensative organ and exceptionally (10/10) painful one when things go wrong.

I will agree toothache sucks though, its such a stupidly unnessacery pain and because its in your head its impossible to ignore, it up there with migrains for suprisingly high level annoying and stupid pain.

Sillysuzie · 28/07/2021 20:37

Sciatica so bad I couldn't pee, but desperately needing to go.
It just wouldn't come out.

Mayhemmumma · 28/07/2021 20:38

Oooh and laser eye surgery! My left eyeball felt like was going to explode

Biscoffbiscou · 28/07/2021 20:38

Epidural injection

diamondpony80 · 28/07/2021 20:38

Child birth, sciatica, broken collar bone (in that order)

FogHornInTheAttic · 28/07/2021 20:38

Labour without a doubt.its the reason ds 7 is an only.

NotQuiteUsual · 28/07/2021 20:38

Pre-eclampsia headache for me. I still have flashbacks of it, every time I have even a minor headache I have panic attacks.

IcedPurple · 28/07/2021 20:39

Another vote for tootache. I have terrible trouble with my teeth and have had excrutiating pain - the kind that several handfuls of Ibuprofen barely touch - several times.

Amazing that something so tiny can cause so much agony.

MulberrySquash · 28/07/2021 20:39

@VariantL1130

I've given birth twice, have endometriosis, and broken my arm. But nothing beats the pain of having a blood sample taken from the artery in my wrist.
Yep that is a sickening pain
GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 28/07/2021 20:39

Back to back baby, born in 20 minutes with the head circumference of a Exocet missile

Pinkmagic1 · 28/07/2021 20:39

An infected wisdom tooth. I would rather give birth 5 times with no pain relief than suffer that awful pain again!

eclipsechips · 28/07/2021 20:39

Retained tissue after D&C for a blighted ovum - I was begging the A&E nurses for pain relief

Fedupmum13 · 28/07/2021 20:40

Urinary retention, didn't wee for 12 hours, bladder was completely distended. Childbirth wasn't as painful (no pain relief)

nanbread · 28/07/2021 20:40

Faecal impaction plus anal fissures, worse than toothache or childbirth for me.

89redballoons · 28/07/2021 20:40

Childbirth with no time for any pain relief apart from gas and air and the pool briefly which they then made me get out of. I couldn't think properly or talk because of the pain. I'd dutifully practised hypnobirthing and it didn't remotely touch the sides. If there's a next time and if at all possible I'm taking all of the drugs.

Sticks in my mind though not as bad as childbirth - stepping on a sleeping hornet in bare feet. I was a teenager and had just got out of bed, it was springtime, we lived in the woods and they were just coming out of hibernation. I swear I felt the poison coursing up through my foot and my leg. I had no idea what had happened. I passed out.

AnnaSW1 · 28/07/2021 20:40

Sliced cornea ( and I have given birth without pain relief)

OverByYer · 28/07/2021 20:40

Having my Mirena removed
As bad as natural child birth

TattyDevine · 28/07/2021 20:40

Crash section where I woke up with nothing and were pushing on me to see if I was actually haemorrhaging (ugh stop pushing on the sword of fire or I will be).

Cramping colon is pretty bad

And having the roof of your mouth injected for an extraction ugh

sbhydrogen · 28/07/2021 20:41

Childbirth, followed by kidney infection

IReallyLikeCrows · 28/07/2021 20:41

I had a rare form of blood clot in my brain that I guess must have burst because I then had a brain haemorrhage. I'd had a really bad headache for about a week and seen the doctor who thought it was a virus following on from pneumonia which I'd just recovered from. The day it got really bad a friend was visiting - thankfully or I'd have died - and I started making no sense. At this point the headache didn't feel as bad. Later, in A&E the pain got so bad that I thought I was going to die and actually wanted to die to escape from it. I thought there was no way a person could live through that much pain.

I've had all manner of really bad pain in my life but nothing came close to that.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 28/07/2021 20:41

Labour with third baby.

Rainbunny · 28/07/2021 20:42

Trapped nerve in my shoulder, I had unrelenting red hot pain down my arm for four straight months. My forefinger is still numb three years later.

KeeefBurtain · 28/07/2021 20:42

I quite enjoyed the pain of labour and childbirth. I’m lucky that all 4 were straight forward with only gas and air needed.

Worst pain is a toss up between osteomyelitis of the jaw, and a heart attack.

Fairfeather · 28/07/2021 20:42

Endometriosis
