What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Gallstones. I've given birth twice and neither compared to the pain of gallstones.

I had IV paracetamol, buscopan, codeine and morphine and only after that cocktail did the pain go away. I lost 53lbs in 3 months as I couldn't eat without an attack.
By the time I had my gallbladder out, I was borderline addicted to morphine.

Catchthepigeons · 28/07/2021 19:56

Spd for months on end. Every step I took felt like a searing poker straight up through my pubic bone. So much worse than delivery.

Aprilx · 28/07/2021 19:57

Tooth abscess

HereWeGoAgain24 · 28/07/2021 19:59

Migraines and Labour (ended in EMCS after 1 failed & 1 successful epi and a round of projectile vomiting 🤢)

OnthePiste · 28/07/2021 19:59

Slipped disc

CrunchyCarrot · 28/07/2021 19:59

Back spasms. The only pain that actually makes me break out into a sweat. Agonising.

Laila747 · 28/07/2021 19:59

I’ve had 3 big babies with no pain relief, Gallstones, tooth abscess, paper cuts galore Grin
But nothing….absolutely nothing comes close to the pain I get every 6-8 weeks with this bloody Sphincter of Oddi that I have…it feels like a heart attack, like someone sitting on my chest while stabbing me in the back. It’s horrendous and I’ve had Botox injected in to my oesophagus countless times, my bile duct cut twice and endless investigations in to why it happens but, 13 years on we’re still non the wiser!
I am thankful it’s not a pain I have to deal with daily like some do though and forever grateful to our wonderful NHS for sorting me out each and every time.

HereWeGoAgain24 · 28/07/2021 20:00

And also sciatica. Came on at work (in a retail setting with customers around) and I was frozen still and couldn't move an inch for the pain. Thought I was going to be paralysed.

ADHDgirl · 28/07/2021 20:00

Neck sprain, God that was horrendous pain

Firevixen · 28/07/2021 20:01
  1. First Labour that went on for 36 hours with no gap between contractions for the last 6 hours.
  2. Dislocated and broken elbow.
  3. Tonsilitis so bad my throat was bleeding.
Suspicioussam · 28/07/2021 20:01

Back to back labour that ended in forceps with no pain relief (I begged for pain relief!)
I asked to die repeatedly and really meant it. Lasted hours and I am still scarred. No more natural births for me!

TableFlowerss · 28/07/2021 20:02

I don’t get how a pain like toothache, that could be controlled for the majority of people with paracetamol/ibuprofen or even a combination of them, could be considered more painful than childbirth?

No way could paracetamol/ibuprofen work for taking labour pain away for me. Christ the diamorphine didn’t work. There’s just no relief.

I thought I was going to die. I cried like a baby because it hurt too much

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 28/07/2021 20:02

Natural child birth with minimal gas and air

GetInThereLewis · 28/07/2021 20:02

Toothache. I was inconsolable

Jubilate · 28/07/2021 20:02

Childbirth is one of the most distressing pains I've felt. Psychologically it's very difficult to deal with an excruciating pain that you know needs to get worse before it's over. There is also the 'progress' to factor in and the fact you know someone who did the same thing on half a disprin.

IncessantNameChanger · 28/07/2021 20:02

Morning thigh cramps here too. I have had four kids natural births. But the feeling like your leg muscle has ripped in two when you move it. I cant even breath it's so painful

TableFlowerss · 28/07/2021 20:03

@neveradullmoment99

Oh and a corneal abrasion was awful.
I’ve had that too! Yes not nice.
goose1964 · 28/07/2021 20:03

Fore my rotator cuff, nearly passed on but it only lasted seconds, bursitis of my hip, I could hardly walk lasted for weeks

MrsWarleggan · 28/07/2021 20:03
  1. Induced labour
  2. "The ring of fire" (labour related!) 😬😬
Maskedrevenger · 28/07/2021 20:03

1 Gallstones - pain for months til I had the surgery. Had to leave my own birthday party when an attack came on to go home and curl up in a ball and cry.
2 Broken ribs - even breathing caused pain so the pain was constant.
3 Kidney Infection - hospitalised for this
4 1st childbirth - induced so got contractions without a gap, then baby in distress had to be yanked out with forceps as too late for a CS.
Bad Toothache, other broken bones and 2nd childbirth were a doddle in comparison.

il0vew1ne · 28/07/2021 20:03

Losing my big toe nail

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 28/07/2021 20:03

Sciatica by far. Bedridden, couldn't sleep, could barely move. Diazepam didn't touch it and the doctor wouldn't give me morphine. Went on for weeks too.

riotlady · 28/07/2021 20:04

Ear infection that burst my ear drum. It was actually the minutes leading up to it bursting that were the most painful, once it burst I got a little bit of relief

Mustrryharder · 28/07/2021 20:04

Crowning / pushing my little boy out. Made a frozen shoulder and potentially fractured hip that made me faint seem insignificant

thefirstmrsrochester · 28/07/2021 20:04

Hands down .... ovarian torsion. Passed out due to the pain, came round covered in vomit. The worst pain ever.
