What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

@lanbro

Gallstones, much worse than childbirth
Agreed! I thought my insides were exploding!!
SpacePug · 28/07/2021 19:51

My second labour. Back to back and happened so quickly. Never had pain like it. My first wasn't half as bad and that ended in forceps

Nonamenoplacetogo · 28/07/2021 19:51

Dry socket- horrendous

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2021 19:51

Oh and I forgot, when my breasts filled up with milk [was not breast feeding] The pain and tenderness were utterly unbelievable.

Lilyn · 28/07/2021 19:51

I had a tissue expander inserted in my leg for a reconstruction after cancer and it needed to be injected with saline for weeks and weeks to make it big enough for the surgery. It was horrendous but the results were so worth it and my plastic surgeon was amazing.

MsMeNz · 28/07/2021 19:52

Stuck kidney stone casting swelling and bledding with no pain meds for 12 hours due to an allergic reaction to one. I was screaming and whimpering I wanted to die. It was very traumatic tbh. It was like a baby crowning for hours on end with no relief.

Mycatcontrolsmymovements · 28/07/2021 19:52

Back pain, I sneezed and then was immobile

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2021 19:52

Oh and a corneal abrasion was awful.

gratedbeetroot · 28/07/2021 19:52

@Imicola

Breast abscess (particularly when it was being needle aspirated), horrific to go through not long after childbirth, which was a close second.
Same. Had it aspirated a couple of times a week for over a month. Ended up with a large hole. I had to walk around topless for over a month - rarely left the house for this reason as anything touching the area was too painful.
Freefalling22 · 28/07/2021 19:53

First baby's head pushing through (literally felt the tearing)

Second baby, the horrendous contractions moments before she was born.

I also have possible endometriosis. Pain in my worst symptoms. It's fucking debilitating, and I can barely move some days. It's right throughout my body as well.

tillytoodles1 · 28/07/2021 19:53

Toothache after an extraction when I was sent home with the nerves exposed. Worst pain ever and I've had two kids.

igelkott2021 · 28/07/2021 19:53

I'm very fortunate that I've not had bad or lasting pain (lots of painkillers during childbirth) but javelin arse is up there.

And having needles in my face to have moles removed and needles in front of gums to have a tooth out. Really nasty but short lived.

fuckingsickofcovid · 28/07/2021 19:53

Kidney stone with infection all around and second labour, just because I went from 3cm to 10cm and baby being out in 17 minutes. But bright side, it was only 17 minutes 😅

ForTheDIR · 28/07/2021 19:53

Tooth surgery when they didn’t administer enough anaesthetic 😰 and e-coli. I genuinely thought I was dying with that one.

Holothane · 28/07/2021 19:54

Pressure in eye measured 60, normal is between 12/23 at Moorfields they said people used to commit suicide because of it, I can see why. Then period pain lasting 10 hours or more. Today arthritis can be painful.

ohcomeonnn · 28/07/2021 19:54

I've broken a toe, been bitten by dogs, had three vaginal births followed by mastitis and torticollis, all more preferable to having a copper coil shoved through my uterus wall into my abdominal cavity.. I went into cervical shock. Not nice.

However none of mine can compare to pain I witnessed... Trigeminal neuralgia, my DB as a toddler. Poor little thing.. I'll never forget seeing his little face, he froze when he knew an attack was imminent ...he clawed his face to pieces. Heartbreaking to witness 😥

DanceDanceDance80 · 28/07/2021 19:54

Vaginal haematoma after after giving birth

Nat6999 · 28/07/2021 19:55

Endometriosis pain as well, as bad as a back to back labour.

olivesnutsandcheeseplease · 28/07/2021 19:55

A toothache beyond all recognition whilst in a pressurised cabin on a flight to Glasgow.
I thought I was going to die, and then as we descended it suddenly went away as fast as it came on.

I had a fairly horrific childbirth with a failed epidural but nothing has topped that tooth pain on a flight. I silently sobbed my goodbyes to my family as I thought my head would actually explode

PaperMonster · 28/07/2021 19:55

Period pain that has seen me hospitalised.
Rotator cuff injury - just don’t want to even go there.
My first miscarriage which was of a multiple pregnancy. The physical pain of that was just horrendous.

Abraxan · 28/07/2021 19:56

I have chronic pain due to arthritis anyway, so do get a lot of pain in my joints. At the moment, one elbow which radiates up and down my arm, into my shoulder blade and also makes my hand/fingers tingle. is extremely painful - needs regular painkillers all the time.

However, the worst most intense pain I have ever experiences was when I fell and landed on my arm. I dislocated my elbow (the one which current hurts infact) and the joint came in and then slammed itself back into place. The pain was agony - never felt pain quite like it. Even the extra strong medication didn't touch it. It did start to ease one it was in a cast and more stable but took days for the pain to ease completely.

Labour pains were painful - it was a failed induction which just caused long ongoing pain, enough to make me sick. But it was nothing compared to the pain I felt years later when I did my elbow.

sotiredofthislonelylife · 28/07/2021 19:56

@sugarapplelane

Trigeminal neuralgia pain - awful
I haven’t experienced it myself, but my late husband had it, and it stopped him in his tracks. It’s not called the suicidal condition for nothing. He was about to have some new, experimental treatment for the TN, when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The combined pain was only defeated with a huge cocktail of drugs, including ketamine.
bert3400 · 28/07/2021 19:56

Having my big toe nail removed without anesthesia...it didn't work. I was offered to comeback at a later date for a general but had been in theatre for an hour already and just wanted it done. Took two nurses to hold me down after I'd agreed to it there and then . Childbirth was easy peasy after that

IrisAtwood · 28/07/2021 19:56

Childbirth.

QueenofDestruction · 28/07/2021 19:56

Surgery to remove womb, part of intensive etc, the pain was so bad that I wanted to die rather than carry on feeling it.
