No washing machine at centreparcs

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

Odd that some people think putting clothes in a machine and pressing a button is too much work on holiday, but handwashing, rinsing and drying clothes isn’t

I don’t get it either. No sticking a quick load on but ok to hand wash or drive to the launderette. Confused

megletthesecond · 27/07/2021 07:38

Yes, surely the swimming costumes and towels need a rinse and spin every evening?

saraclara · 27/07/2021 07:39

FYI if you google "are there laundry facilities at centre parcs" it states explicitly on the CP website that there isn't so really it's the OP's own fault.

But if like me, you've never been to a holiday park that doesn't have a launderette, why would you Google it? Especially when you're going to the most expensive and expansive of parks?

Samsara12 · 27/07/2021 07:40

Just pack for a week, the last thing you want to be doing on holiday is washing?
Do it when your home and enjoy your time away

user1471538283 · 27/07/2021 07:42

Much as I would hate to do laundry on holiday when self catering and when my DS was small our holiday places have always had a washer or a laundromat on site.

I would be furious. Is there a pick up laundry nearby or a laundromat? If there are supermarkets near by could you get some cheap bits to save you doing laundry?

MadeOfStarStuff · 27/07/2021 07:43

YABU

You can’t harp on about paying £4K when you haven’t actually paid Hmm

And who on earth doesn’t take enough pants for their whole holiday? You should’ve checked about the washing machine, this is on you.

RobinPenguins · 27/07/2021 07:44

Am I the only person who never does any washing on a week long holiday? Take enough changes of clothes for me, take enough changes of clothes for DC. Bingo, a week off washing. Most people go to CP for 3 or 4 night breaks so washing isn’t really on their radar.

JoborPlay · 27/07/2021 07:44

YANBU.

All the holiday parks I've ever been to in Europe have a laundrette or something. What if you your child gets a sickness bug? Or unusually wets the bed? Nappy leak on the pram suit?

MaggieFS · 27/07/2021 07:44

To those who never do washing on holiday. Have you been away with small children? No accidents? Ever? Can we swap kids?

RobinPenguins · 27/07/2021 07:45

I have a 3 year old so pack to accommodate a couple of accidents.
TheGenealogist · 27/07/2021 07:45

@SnarkyBag

How odd to expect a washing machine at centre parks! Even odder not to pack enough pants for a week they hardly take up a lot of room!
It's not odd to expect a washing machine in a holiday home. Almost every one has them. And usually a dryer too, or a washer/dryer.

I know that there;s not a washing machine at Center Parcs but only because we've been. Had we not been, like the OP, I would have expected to find a washer too.

Tinpotspectator · 27/07/2021 07:45

Completely stupid to exclude washing machines at those prices, and where children usually stay too! Who the hell googles that sort of stuff?

GiantHaystacks2021 · 27/07/2021 07:46

Why would you want to do a wash on a week long holiday?
Do you not own more than 3 or 4 pairs of knickers?
I always bring plenty, with a few extra, just in case.

I would hate to be washing my dirty keks by hand in the bathroom sink (urgh) while I'm supposed to be enjoying my holiday.

JoborPlay · 27/07/2021 07:47

@Samsara12

What about if you don't have room in your vehicle? Or are going on public transport so decide to pack light?

Or the scenarios above- do you take spare bed linen? A second cover for your carseat in case of a nappy leak? Or an extra cost toes for your pram in case of sickness.

It's stupid the prices they charge that they can't stick a few washing machines on site.

OldTinHat · 27/07/2021 07:47

There's not even a communal laundry room somewhere on site?? Good grief, even caravan sites have those so why can't £enter £arcs have one? I relied on those when holidaying with my boys

Bunnycat101 · 27/07/2021 07:48

It does seem like a massive omission. What happens if a child wets the bed? I’d ideally not do washing during a weekend away but I’d much rather put on a load so I’m not carting back muddy clothes.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 27/07/2021 07:48

Wouldn’t of even crossed my mind to expect one, never done laundry on holiday unless rinsing a bikini in the sink counts. Surely you just take enough clothes for a week.

JoborPlay · 27/07/2021 07:49

Imagine if people from abroad were visiting.

We got stuck on a holiday abroad for 10 extra days due to flight cancellation and then illness. I doubt anyone packs 10 extra days of stuff.

ineedaholidaynow · 27/07/2021 07:50

I suppose we are back to people who have to wash towels everyday. When we go to CP I just rinse swimming costumes and hang towels up to dry. You can hire swimming towels if you need clean ones every day. You have separate bath towels at the lodges. Again do people expect clean ones of those everyday?
With the amount of people at CP, if everyone was washing their towels everyday the use of water and electricity would be horrendous.

Also if you are putting a wash on and then drying (so assume the lodge would have washer/dryer) do you hang around whilst the wash is on?

TheVolturi · 27/07/2021 07:50

Hello? Is this the Centre Parcs hate thread?

kowari · 27/07/2021 07:51

Most people have a week's worth of clothes. Otherwise google a laundromat.

GoldBar · 27/07/2021 07:51

I'm sure many people don't plan to do laundry on holiday but what are you meant to do if a child is sick on their clothes/sheets or spills food on themselves or has a toilet accident? Or simply jumps in too many muddy puddles for the clothes you have brought? My DC can get through 3 or 4 changes of clothes on a bad day (muddy clothes from walk, spills milk down their front, drops an ice cream down themselves). It's not difficult to think why families with young children might want to do washing rather than leaving things for when they get home. Who wants to leave vomit-covered items unwashed for days?

daphnedoo12 · 27/07/2021 07:51

I'd expect at least on site facilities for that price

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/07/2021 07:51

I stay at a lovely place with holiday cottages. They have an on site laundry with washing machines and dryers. Every evening it’s full of people doing laundry. Min stay is 7 nights.

Kids+Outdoor+mud=washing.

Another reason not to stay at CP.

icedcoffees · 27/07/2021 07:51

@Imnothereforthedrama

I’ve never needed to wash clothes for a week , and tbh I wouldn’t want to I’m on holiday I do enough washing the other 52 weeks of the year.
But you're not doing less washing by not doing it for a week - you're just delaying the inevitable and having to do 5+ loads when you get back instead!
