No washing machine at centreparcs

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

One of the many things I loathe about CP (and I do enjoy a good CP break)!

No washing machine - why?! So popular with preschool kids and babies, so the amount of clothes to pack is insane. So manky that you can’t pop your swim stuff on a quick cycle. No wonder everyone gets ill from the pool!

Also the ridiculously lame gas ovens, I’ve never understood why they don’t convert them to electric and induction.

We love the pool, and the facilities but it’s a complete rip off.

sowhatsnext · 27/07/2021 07:02

@WiddlinDiddlin totally off topic and depends where you live - but if you have additional accessibility needs and want a stay in the Peak District have a look at Hoe Grange holidays just outside brassington near Ashbourne. I stayed there recently and it’s fantastic - they have off-road wheelchairs to hire and have won awards for accessibility. I’m not affiliated but was really stuck by how much they’ve done to consider all users needs xx

Drivingmeupthewall · 27/07/2021 07:03

Even if if a holiday home did have a washing machine, I’ve never not taken enough clothes on a holiday. Confused especially knickers. It seems weird to seek out an opportunity to do a load of washing while supposedly on holiday.

newnortherner111 · 27/07/2021 07:05

No sympathy if you did not read the details of what is included and is available. I am sure OP like all on this thread we have read enough stories of holiday horrors to check on what any holiday accommodation includes.

hellcatspangle · 27/07/2021 07:06

I'm only an hour from home. I'm tempted to pop home (leave the kids with my mum) one evening and collect more clothes. But I realise this is probably mad.

Tbh, I would do this - it's the least stressful option.

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 27/07/2021 07:06

I always take some washing powder on holiday Grin for a quick hand wash

If you never had a reflux baby, coming on your shoulder after every feed, you don’t know his washing can mount up!

Just do a little hand wash OP

Seek out an opportunity? It takes about 30 seconds tops to stick a load in.

Nearlyadoctor · 27/07/2021 07:07

There definitely used to be a launderette at Longleat, it was in the village square opposite the Redwood apartments.

Celandines · 27/07/2021 07:09

Center parcs did used to have a laundry room as I remember one of the kids once being sick and us having to wash stuff. Even the cheaper static caravan parks we stayed in had a laundry room.

megletthesecond · 27/07/2021 07:11

Yanbu. I'm shocked they don't have washing machines. That pile of laundry would make for miserable arrival home.

Seashor · 27/07/2021 07:13

Hurrah for WiddlinDidddlin. I bloody love Centre Parcs and totally agree with you. So many people knock them and moan about them but I really don’t understand why anyone would pay out their hard earned money to go somewhere they don’t want to! Bizzare! As for moaning about no washing machine; unbelievable.

omgthepain · 27/07/2021 07:16

We went to centre parcs a couple of years ago courtesy of tesco clubcard!

There was a laundrette at the Sherwood Forest one near the reception office unless they've removed them which would be a bit odd

Carrotinthesky · 27/07/2021 07:18

I always wash whilst on holiday, I've done a load today, it saves it being a massive chore when we get home!

I love getting the washing machine going when I return from holiday. Such a huge sense of satisfaction seeing the pile going down. I know that there must be something intrinsically wrong with me.

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 07:19

I love getting home and just taking the clean clothes from the suitcase and putting them away. Very satisfying.

melonhead · 27/07/2021 07:21

I agree OP! I am never going on a holiday again with no washing machine. It's either too much to pack or too much laundry when you come home. Fuck that!!

SandandFog · 27/07/2021 07:24

I agree OP, we've been to CP for a week when we only had 1 child. Now I wouldn't go back because of the lack of washing machine! My car is too small and the amount of clothes we go through on a holiday like that is huge.

We've been to loads of holiday park places and every other one had a machine or laundry. I think it's a bit odd it wasn't factored in to the design.

essentialhealing · 27/07/2021 07:24

For the price centre parc's charge I would expect my washing to be done by somebody and ironed too

underneaththeash · 27/07/2021 07:28

The sites used to have laundrettes. No-one used them, so they replaced them with other things.

I don't think they're necessary for a week unless you're going to the beach!

Birminghambloke · 27/07/2021 07:28

I can understand (possibly) wanting a washing machine for a three week holiday in a rental home such as in Florida. For a week? Surely you pack 7 pairs of knickers, plus maybe 3 ‘spare’? I wouldn’t want to be washing clothes on holiday. Someone has kindly paid for a £4K break for you- I’d be relishing it!

thefamous5 · 27/07/2021 07:30

I've never done washing on holiday. We have four kids and manage to take enough not to need to wash. We go on holiday to a caravan next week for a week. We just take enough stuff.

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 07:30

From what I can gather 75% of a CP holiday is spent in the pool. What happens to the towels and swimming costumes? Fresh set fir each day for the whole family? 🤔
Imnothereforthedrama · 27/07/2021 07:30

I’ve never needed to wash clothes for a week , and tbh I wouldn’t want to I’m on holiday I do enough washing the other 52 weeks of the year.

thesockfairydidit · 27/07/2021 07:32

There always was a laundrette there. I used to use it every time as we combined holidays and I would wash everything the morning we arrived. Seems nuts they took it out was always busy.

SimonJT · 27/07/2021 07:32

Odd that some people think putting clothes in a machine and pressing a button is too much work on holiday, but handwashing, rinsing and drying clothes isn’t.

CP is the only placed I have holidayed that didn’t have clothes washing facilities, I always use the washing machine on holiday or if in a hotel the laundry service. We had a little break to Iceland recently, on the last morning all the clothes apart from the ones we were wearing went to the laundry, came back clean, ironed and folded, so when we got home all we had to do was put them back in our drawers/wardrobe.

thesockfairydidit · 27/07/2021 07:34

It was hidden away though and I had to find it so triple check there isn’t one. Essential for us after a week on a beach before and finishing our time away with a weekend at CP.
