Random car parked on my drive!

dh has just come back from work and parked across the road. I asked why he hasn't parked on our driveway and he said he thought we had visitors.
I've gone out and there's a random car on our driveway! Knocked on neighbours door but they don't know who's it is. (They are really nice and we get on with them so they would have told them to move if it was anything to do with them).
AIBU to move the car and block them in?

@Janeyem

I never stay up this late but am gripped and have to know what is happening!!
I was going to bed but now I'm stood outside my bedroom door, in total darkness just waiting for updates! 🥱
Fiddliestofsticks · 24/07/2021 00:28

I'm so sorry, but thate slightly hilarious. Can you imagine the police's face when he opened the door in a hazmat suit!?

Anyway, what fucking knobhead called the police? And it isn't a crime. Why are the police there?!?!

All they had to bloody do was knock on the door and apologise. They've spent bloody ages walking up and down the street just getting into a panic. All they had to do was knock the door and say, "I was a dick. Sorry. May I have my car back?".

Fuxking idiots. I hope you ask the police why they are knocking on your door after midnight when you haven't committed any crime. And they better make the fuckers apologise.

ZombiePara · 24/07/2021 00:28

Just hopped into bed and found this beauty of a thread!

Fuck me they have some nerve calling the police rather than just knocking on your door!!
Eagerly awaiting update... 🍿

Sunbird24 · 24/07/2021 00:28

Can’t believe the police even came out! “Hello, yes we’ve parked on a complete stranger’s drive and now they’ve come home and blocked us in. No we haven’t tried knocking on the door to ask if they’d mind letting us out, can you come and ask them for us?”

muffb · 24/07/2021 00:29

Oh nooo not the police, can't believe they rang the police because they were too scared to knock on someone's door 🤦‍♀️

QueenBee52 · 24/07/2021 00:29

this is a shocking turn of events... calling the Police for this ...

Although tbf I'd loved to have seen their faces when your DH answered the door fully hazmat kitted 🤣

BrozTito · 24/07/2021 00:30

Fucking pathetic cowards. Everybody is fine answerig the door at midnight to police arnt they? Why are they even entertainig them?

Bargebill19 · 24/07/2021 00:30

Hopefully the police will accept that you’ve had too much to drink and therefore will not ask you to break the law and drive.

SlothinSpirit · 24/07/2021 00:30

I hope they realise in the morning that they owe you a huge apology for firstly parking on your drive and secondly calling the police on you Grin. What a bunch of muppets!

Might have thought they had weird sex?🤣
JesusIsAnyNameFree · 24/07/2021 00:31

Seeing as this is all being done on private property, as you aren't parked on the actual road, I'm quite confused about why they have turned up to be honest. Different if you had indeed been on the road, but you're not. They would not touch the car on your drive, because it's a civil matter..

QueenBee52 · 24/07/2021 00:31

this did cross my mind hahaaaa 😳🤣

BrozTito · 24/07/2021 00:32

They wont turn up for a bastard break in

Sunbird24 · 24/07/2021 00:32

Exactly, they surely wouldn’t have come out if you’d called to report a random car on your drive as trespass is a civil matter isn’t it?

UftUft · 24/07/2021 00:33

Ok,
So they called the police and said that they had knocked a number of times (we all know this isn't true!) And that WE had blocked them in. Failed to say that they were on OUR driveway!
We have moved the car and they have gone, did get an apology and they explained they got the wrong house. Police cautioned them for wasting time.

Police officer took DH opening the door in good humour. Probably thought we had some weird sex fetish.

Yay... thank you for the best Thread 🎉🥂

AlexaShutUp · 24/07/2021 00:34

Cheeky fuckers!

Bargebill19 · 24/07/2021 00:34

Well we all now know - if you need the police out to your house - tell them you have parked on someone else’s drive and that you’ve been outrageously blocked in by the homeowner. Do not tell them you really want them to investigate a burglary.
Who knew?!

harverina · 24/07/2021 00:34

OMG the liars!! Why on earth didn’t they just knock 😂

The fact that your DH opened the door in the suit though…that is hilarious!

I take it you told the police that they hadn’t knocked at all?!

I have to say, this is the best dénouement of a parking thread that there has ever been in Mumsnet history!! Grin Grin Grin
gardeninggirl68 · 24/07/2021 00:35

Right....everyone off to bed now!!!

Thanks for the fun op!!

CanofCant · 24/07/2021 00:35

The fucking pricks. I hope they learned their lesson.

Excellent thread though OP, you handled it with grace and good humour. 🍻

Sunbird24 · 24/07/2021 00:36

I bet the police who came out are now sitting in their car on their way to their next call out discussing reasons for the hazmat suit..,

ScrumptiousBears · 24/07/2021 00:36

Love this. It was probably one of the better calls they had to attend on a Friday evening. However I would say our force wouldn't attend for this. 🤣
