To ask if anyone is actually enjoying this weather?

I have felt sick and tired all day. Can't get comfortable, didn't sleep last night etc. Is anyone actually enjoying it as I am certainly not. Dreading work tomorrow also.

I’m usually ok if I can stay in the shade as I burn easily but it was too hot in full sun today and stressful trying to keep dd covered in suncream and the baby out of the sun completely. I’m breastfeeding and baby and I end up a sweaty mess. Dd is also still up as it’s too hot for her to get to sleep so dh is especially grumpy! All in all, I’d prefer it a few degrees colder. 23/24 is perfect!

Aposterhasnoname · 18/07/2021 20:36

Loved it, alternated between sunbathing, sitting in the shade with a cold drink, and sitting in my grandsons paddling pool which I filled to the brim, fortunately its a big one.

Now brought the spare tv outside for my love island fix with a glass of wine. Living the dream!

TheMagicDeckchair · 18/07/2021 20:42

I can see how this weather would be great with older kids but it’s hard work with babies and preschoolers. And the light nights and mornings are crap as you get overtired little ones.

I have a postpartum belly and summer clothes are thin and look shit.

Plus no sitting out on a summer’s evening as have to do bedtime. I look on at my neighbours with teens & adult children having a glass of wine with envy!

BTW is it normal for MNers to have a pool or live right next to a beach?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/07/2021 20:48

@whynotwhatknot: hardly the thought police, I say bugger all on the "ooh, lovely, dark cold nights, cosy!" threads, because I get that a lot of people like that shit. But we get on average about three warm weeks per year, and 90% of British people whinge their way through it. I'm just tired of listening to it. It'll be raining again in a matter of days, can you not just let me and the rest of the lizards enjoy it in peace?!

kowari · 18/07/2021 20:51

Yes, 20 to 35 is my happy temperature. Not keen on high 30s or temps in the 40s.

peasoup8 · 18/07/2021 20:53

We get so little hot weather in the UK

Not in the south-east. It’s generally like this every couple of weeks in the summer here.

newusername2009 · 18/07/2021 20:54

Absolutely love it

I live in the south east! This sort of weather does not last long, and the cold weather lovers get their own way for 90% of the year.

Dollpiglet · 18/07/2021 21:01

It must be nice if you have nothing to do and no kids to stress about suncream and hats so you can just laze and eat ice cream. Unfortunately I have spent the day rugby tackling DC with suncream, timing sun exposure and I'm sure my neighbours are sick of me shouting about putting hats on.

peasoup8 · 18/07/2021 21:02

Eh? It’s 25-30C and sunny for the whole week here! Bring on the rain.

OrangeBananaFish · 18/07/2021 21:03

It's low 30's where I am. I've always loved this hot weather. Really soaked it up. However, this year I've really resented it. I can't keep on top of my running. I can't get cool, I've not been sleeping well. Can't wait until it cools down a bit.

On holiday its been fine, but one day last year in the South of France it did get to 41. Now that was too hot.

Which is one week out of 52 mostly shit ones!

Yes, heavy gardening all day. Worked up a bit of a glow Grin Having a lovely soaky bath now and feeling really good, like I achieved something and can tick it off. Far preferable to doing it in drizzle.

Sinthie · 18/07/2021 21:05

I like it. Although my preferred temperature is around 21 degrees, I prefer this to rain and I can pretend I’m abroad now that I’ve finished work for the summer.

Essentialironingwater · 18/07/2021 21:05

Yes but I'm in NI so it was 31 yesterday and about 23 today. Wandered round a NT property garden then played in the shade in the garden with toddler.

BakewellGin1 · 18/07/2021 21:10

Love It so far... It won't last long enough no doubt...
We are lucky and live near several beaches in the North East so tend to spend a lot of time there or visiting parks a little further inland. Both DS love being out and about so this weather certainly helps.

Tomorrow we are off for a picnic at a park near us which has plenty of outdoor activities.

I am lucky in that I work term time so can enjoy the weather we have.

beigebrownblue · 18/07/2021 21:11

I love winter. And autumn.
Too hot this.

Thewiseoneincognito · 18/07/2021 21:13

The sun feels evil at the moment, it’s definitely changed intensity this last few years.

thepeopleversuswork · 18/07/2021 21:14

I absolutely love it. I love everything about it. Everything seems more upbeat in hot weather: people seem happier, everything looks more beautiful. There's a certain quality about the air and the sense of freedom I love. Can't get enough of it. Even the minor inconvenience of it being sticky can't take away from it.

GoddamnCars · 18/07/2021 21:17

Today I loved it, but we have been swimming in a river half the day and it has really cooled us off; yesterday at the gym was hideous (this post makes me sound much fitter than I actually am)!

DeciduousPerennial · 18/07/2021 21:19

No. It’s revolting.

Aquagirl19 · 18/07/2021 21:19

Hate it hate it hate it!!! But then I'm fat so warm days are never all that enjoyable for me.

KezzabellaB · 18/07/2021 21:20

Yuk. Can't stand the heat, it makes me incredibly grumpy and maungy!

Chipsahoy · 18/07/2021 21:20

Trying to pack for our move is a nightmare in this heat. I have zero energy.
