To ask if anyone is actually enjoying this weather?

I have felt sick and tired all day. Can't get comfortable, didn't sleep last night etc. Is anyone actually enjoying it as I am certainly not. Dreading work tomorrow also.

I'm melting. Bedrooms are in the loft and are inhabitable. Cat is looking miserable.
I feel gaslit by the weather forecasters, with their cheery statements that we are all enjoying the sunshine - like there's something wrong with people who are not comfortable.
The heat abroad seems different - dryer and not this sticky. Maybe it's the air con or being by a beach.

Imapotato · 18/07/2021 19:55

Love it. Spent the afternoon in the paddling pool while the kids were out. Lovely.

Jericha · 18/07/2021 19:55

A couple of days here and there over the summer at this temperature I love. Especially over days we aren't working. If it was like this for longer than a week I think the novelty would wear off. I've loved this weekend, seeing friends and firing up the bbq. DH often works at the weekend but by luck he was home so it has been lovely. Don't enjoy trying to get to sleep though.

SoupDragon · 18/07/2021 19:56

I'm loving it.

Or I would be if I wasn't in the Caribbean right now.

We get so little hot weather in the UK so it's not like the Haters have to put up with it for long.

Whatsthatohno · 18/07/2021 19:56

Oh I love it, but after spending winter freezing under 5 layers of clothing despite paying over £100 pounds in heating bills(old draughty house with too much to fix), I intend to enjoy every sweaty second. The Aldi pool has tired out the two year old and kept me cool, my washing has dried in half an hour and I'm getting a tan; nothing could be better!

shouldistop · 18/07/2021 19:57

What's your weather like?

It was 20 degrees where I am today and beautiful.

Over 25 and I start to feel too hot chasing the kids around.

Penistoe · 18/07/2021 19:59

Have a toddler with a stomach bug. All I can smell is diarrhoea. This weather is making it ten times worse.

NoiceDifferentUnusual · 18/07/2021 20:00

Hate it. 23 degrees tops for me.

peasoup8 · 18/07/2021 20:00

Absolutely hate it and feel genuinely sorry for anyone who lives in a hot country and has to suffer these temperatures (or worse!) day in, day out.

I feel extremely hot, sweaty and uncomfortable and even going for a walk is a chore. I just don’t get the attraction Confused

bigbluebus · 18/07/2021 20:01

Rather have this than rain. I did a pile of ironing before lunch and a 6.5 mile walk across open fields this afternoon. It's 29°c here - I don't like it any hotter than this though.

dementedma · 18/07/2021 20:01

Love it. Weather in UK is shit most of the year, so enjoying the sun while we have it

Faevern · 18/07/2021 20:01

Oh I’m embracing it and enjoying it, I’m in holiday mode, all chores are on hold, I’m back to work tomorrow but wfh and will do some of it in the garden. I have a tower fan for nights and garden has sun and shade.

Kokosrieksts · 18/07/2021 20:02

Yes, I love it. I’m just moving in the shaded part of the garden when it gets too much. We also have a portable air-con so we switch that on an hour before bed to cool the bedroom down.

Crayfishforyou · 18/07/2021 20:03

I’ve had a lovely time in the shade on my giant bean bag.
I’ve walked the dog first thing in the morning and last thing at night when it’s cool.
I’ve eaten ice lollies
DH and I rigged our earbuds to the portable projector and watched a film in the garden last night.

HereticFanjo · 18/07/2021 20:04

Yes loving it. Love eating outdoors before peak wasp season!

MonicaGellerBing · 18/07/2021 20:04

@jenjen517 yes! That's exactly how I felt this morning, I couldn't put my finger on what it was I was feeling but you've hit the nail on the head there. It's making me feel really ill, as soon as I leave the vicinity of the fan I'm melting immediately.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 18/07/2021 20:04

Yanbu its fucking horrible. The kids are hot and grumpy, my underboobs are soggy and I’m covered in little black thundercuntflies. Ugh

RichardMarxisinnocent · 18/07/2021 20:05

No, I have stupid pasty skin which burns really easily, so if I want I be outside in the sun for any length of time I need to faff about slathering myself in suncream. I'd like to be able to spend a little bit of time sitting somewhere shady, and alternating between that and being indoors, but I live in a flat with no garden and the nearest park (I live in a city) has no shade at all.

pigsDOfly · 18/07/2021 20:06

I don't hate it exactly as I can sit in my shady garden and the house is quite cool but I feel so sorry for my poor dog as she can't get her walks.

I might feel differently tomorrow though, as I've got to go into a busy area, find parking and walk to my destination; pretty certain I'm going to hate it then.

daisypond · 18/07/2021 20:07

I like it. It’s a lovely change from the pouring rain and grey we’ve had recently. It’s never going to last for ages.

SourAppleChew · 18/07/2021 20:08

I’m loving it! Sitting out with a glass of wine with a nice breeze blowing. Most of my overweight friends don’t like it though as they get a bit hot and sweaty lol.

Darbs76 · 18/07/2021 20:08

My mood improves when the sun is shining and it’s actually not been too unbearable on the decking sofa outside as sun moves around after midday. But I hate sleeping in it and the dog hates it. Using it as an opportunity to lie on the garden sofa as Covid has hit our home

yoyo1234 · 18/07/2021 20:09

Hate it . We have been doing lots of physical work to the house and I was nearly sick (I think due to the heat). It has made me irritable and snappy and my family do not deserve that .

SummerSazz · 18/07/2021 20:10

Point proven! 🤣

To ask if anyone is actually enjoying this weather?
Maggiesfarm · 18/07/2021 20:11

It doesn't bother me because I am not going out, therefore the type of weather is immaterial. I'm quite comfortable indoors.

It must be nice to be down by the coast with a sea breeze - certainly not commuting into central London on a train. I used to do that and remember a train being stuck in one place for ages due to signal failure during a heatwave. Everyone was positively wilting.
