If they said “its a pleasure to announce I’m leaving”

OP posts:
Emmelina · 14/07/2021 18:30

I’d find it funny.
I sent a sympathy card to previous colleagues.
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
Then inside I wrote, “I’ll miss you too”.

WorraLiberty · 14/07/2021 18:33

It's not rude at all. Of course they're pleased to announce it!

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 14/07/2021 18:36

That would make me laugh as well. Why are you so annoyed OP?

I once worked in a place where,on his last day, a colleague said a few words which included "I'm so pleased to be leaving and hope you all follow suit out of this shithole" GrinGrinGrin

@Emmelina

I’d find it funny. I sent a sympathy card to previous colleagues. “I’m sorry for your loss.” Then inside I wrote, “I’ll miss you too”.
I think you might be my soulmate Grin
Gwenhwyfar · 14/07/2021 18:37

@frogswimming

Well they wouldn't be leaving if they didn't want to!
Not necessarily.
Cruel · 14/07/2021 18:38

OP, you sound like a barrel of laughs!

Bargebill19 · 14/07/2021 18:43

The op probably won’t be contributing to the leaving present but may wish to sign the card.?

Bargebill19 · 14/07/2021 18:43

As per another thread. I should have added.

whynotwhatknot · 14/07/2021 18:48

Maybe they meant you'll all be glad to be getting rid of me

either way i think its quite witty

I love it too, I’m in a similar position. When talking about cost transformation I replied “reduce headcount, I’ll be first to go”.

PS, I’m only still here because it’s likely there will be a redundancy package in a year or so. I’m good at my job and we have a project to finish so they can’t be offended at my flippancy.

NeedNewKnees · 14/07/2021 18:53

Of course it isn’t rude!

TomForddr · 14/07/2021 18:53

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair

It's not necessarily rude, we need more context but I can't see why anyone thinks it's particularly witty or original, hardly Live at the Apollo material Grin
I mean this haha, humour is subjective but come on it could hardly be classed as “laugh out loud” or “brilliant”
OP posts:
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 14/07/2021 18:55

@TomForddr we get it, you don't find it funny...but word you've said humour is subjective though but insist it's not funny Confused

Why does it bother you though?

tallduckandhandsome · 14/07/2021 18:55

Typical, OP ignores everyone saying YABU and that it's not rude and fixates on something that wasn't in the OP. Your OP asked if it was rude, not was it funny.

Carrotinthesky · 14/07/2021 18:55

Why have you come to the conclusion it’s a woman?

Maybe cos it's Mumsnet. Doesn't really matter either way.
I think it's funny.

Bluesheep8 · 14/07/2021 18:56

Maybe they're glad to no longer have to work with colleagues devoid of humour and who think everyone else is rude

TheCrowening · 14/07/2021 18:56

Someone has a stick up their arse.

Carrotinthesky · 14/07/2021 18:57

I mean this haha, humour is subjective but come on it could hardly be classed as “laugh out loud” or “brilliant”

Maybe not, but it's amusing. We all like to be amused.
I think I might lol though.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 14/07/2021 19:00

I pictured a woman too when I read this, for some reason

Pl242 · 14/07/2021 19:00

This reminds me of a former colleague who, in their leaving speech, said “it’s been a pleasure to work with about half of you”.

chickenyhead · 14/07/2021 19:01

I have done and said far, far worse.

Nocutenamesleft · 14/07/2021 19:03

I find it quite ironic you posted this on another thread

TomForddr

Omg OP I could never be you. What a drain over such a simple thing that was already 50% over when you posted.

What a load of drama over a non event.

Could say the same for this thread you started…..

notasillysausage · 14/07/2021 19:04

It would make me chuckle. Wouldn’t find it rude in the slightest or take offence, think that would say more about me than the person leaving...

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 14/07/2021 19:04

Op, why do you care so much about what they said?
