help me settle this argument over how many burgers per person?

me and my parents are having a (light hearted) argument over how many chicken burgers a person needs. she thinks that my dad should have 2 or 3, i think 1 is enough (she also serves with chips and baked beans, and the burgers are in the buns).
yabu - 2 or 3 is appropriate
yanbu - 1 alongside chips and beans is more than enough

1 for me.
2 for DH
4 per teenager

YABU, let the guy eat what he wants

Tisforptarmigan · 15/07/2021 13:08

1 is sufficient for anyone I think, but I dislike gluttony.
I always get annoyed at barbecues when DH thinks we should have burger + sausages + chicken kebabs + anything else he can incinerate.

Just greedy to have more. Also hate "All You Can Eat" buffets because of the plate piling people trying to cram as much food as possible down their throats. Just repulsive.

It would be rude not to taste everything. People spent time makimg it 😁

If it's a full chicken breast then one should be plenty. But those Birdseye chicken burgers would have to be two as they are tiny (but two burgers in one bun).

Katela18 · 15/07/2021 13:53

My DP would probably want two, but with those sides 1 is definitely enough.

If eating alone, probably 2

PattyPan · 15/07/2021 13:57

One is a normal serving size. My DP is skinny as a rake so I’d probably give him two as part of my mission to fatten him up. He’d probably refuse a second bun. 3 is ridiculous.

PoorPawsPickPawpaws · 15/07/2021 13:57

Surely this depends on the person eating them?

Someone doing a physical job all day with just a quick stop for lunch may well need a lot more food at dinnertime than someone who has spent all day at a desk, complete with the odd biscuit and coffee.

SmokedPaprikaHotChilliPowder · 15/07/2021 15:31

I'd only have one. But DP would insist on 2 if there was another going.

MattDamon · 15/07/2021 15:39

Two is normal in my extended family. I'm the only one (out of 10+ relatives) with weight issues.

TheOrangeSharked · 15/07/2021 15:47

Why do you feel you can dictate how much your father eats? Genuinely do you feel you can dictate how much he sleeps? Or how many times he goes to the toilet?

I'd probably have 1, maybe 2 if they were the tiny birds eye ones and I was hungry. My brother might have 2 or 3, he's tall and active and hungry. My grandma would have one because she elderly and small and not very active. How much I would have is irrelevant, its your dads choice

Oh gosh this reminds me of when I had dinner at my in laws and the men were served SIX sausages each. As a woman I was only allowed 4 despite being larger than my husband.

At home we only ever have two sausages each

We need a CF penis portions thread, we haven't had one of those for a long time.

shinynewapple21 · 15/07/2021 17:46

In my house I have one (veggie burger) , DH and DS will have two. This is in a bun with chips and salad on the side .

Not RTFT but I'm sure there will be (or have been) some responses saying half a burger with salad, no bun or chips.

mbosnz · 15/07/2021 17:48

When I was breastfeeding, I was somewhat aghast and embarrassed that I could easily demolish two home-made burgers. I was terrifying when I was pregnant and breastfeeding - hangry on steroids!

Liar. You read it😁

@SchrodingersImmigrant I thought the competitive eating would come out too, especially given the never ending chicken.

I think that's just MN thing and poor Cpt Birdseye has standard chickens so makes small burger patties😂

MouseholeCat · 16/07/2021 01:33

Assuming no burger buns here? Regardless, I would have one. If there wasn't a bun my (skinny!) husband would want 2, but 1 if in a bun. This wouldn't be a normal meal for us though.

Oblomov21 · 16/07/2021 02:51

Ds's can eat 2. I often like one, and then a 1/2. Just to be difficult.
