To think Colleen Rooney

Smidgexxx · 13/07/2021 10:42

Shouldn't put things online that are so private to her? None of us should?
I just think the money wasted on this court case with Rebekah vardy.

I know we all have our own opinions. I found the way Colleen dealt with it wrong personally. Rebekah was 7 months pregnant and she wasn't just causing stress to Rebekah but to her children too. She went all public about it and aired her dirty laundry in public whilst being angry about her own privacy.

I just saw an update and one of the things she said was Rebekah was sitting behind her at the 2016 euros to be seen even though it was someone else's seat. What a petty thing to say.

The whole thing is just ridiculous.

Now, I really like Peter Crouch ('He's tall! He's red! His feet stick out the bed!') and actually find him quite attractive, but if he's cheated on Abbey Clancy then I no longer know which way is up . . .

Frownette · 13/07/2021 13:37

@Coffeepot72 that's the only one I would recognise from the current team! They seem really sweet together

spinningspaniels · 13/07/2021 13:39

I think Kate Kane seems to be the exception to the rest of them, judging by the recent coverage in the media. She's very pretty, natural and doesn't look as if she's made of plastic.

Some of the WAGs at the Wembley after party looked like they'd been ordered from a sex doll catalogue in comparison. Puffed up baboons arse lips, Botoxed expressionless faces and horse veneers for teeth.

Lelliebellieboo · 13/07/2021 13:39

I swear I read something that Rebekah Vardy leaked information to The Sun in exchange for favourable press. So I guess in her mind, she may legitimately not have "sold" the stories about Colleen because it wasn't a financial transaction.

I think it was pretty much confirmed that RV was behind the secret wag column wasn't it?

I think the whole situation was handled badly by both parties to be honest. CR could have waited a few more months until after RK baby was born - that must have been hugely stressful for a pregnant woman. But being pregnant also doesn't give RV a 'get out of jail free' card.

RV could have simply said, "I'm not the only one with access to my account. I will investigate any potential breach and deal with it accordingly" and left it at that. Instead, the pair of them seem to be desperate to bring more attention to it. The only people winning here are the lawyers.

Maunderingdrunkenly · 13/07/2021 13:39

Vardy is absolute trash. She 100% did it, she’s been an attention seeker from day one.

Nightlystroll · 13/07/2021 13:40

This is a lesson that whatever you post on social media, no matter how private you think it is, can become public. If you have something private to say, pick up the phone.
Alfred Hitchcock once wrote: when only you know, its a secret. When another person knows, it's no longer a secret. When two other people know, the whole world knows.
I don't think Rooney's clever, I don't think Vardy's reputation is ruined. I think they're two women who managed to marry and hang on to two overpaid husbands, and who seem to have very little to do.

RonaldMcDonald · 13/07/2021 13:40

I think Vardy should have been dragged for it
It is nonsense to suggest that someone other than her deliberately took her friend’s private stories and published them via her Sun account for profit

All the women with too much money commentary sounds like another way of saying shut up unimportant women - men’s stuff only is important

HomerSimpsonsDonut · 13/07/2021 13:45

@Justcallmebebes

Does anyone actually give a flying fuck about 2 over privileged, vacuous morons squabbling over their social media?
I second this!!
Seesawmummadaw · 13/07/2021 13:46

I want to not care but it’s a car crash.
Are they doing a who wore what to court?

I kind of care Confused

Nightlystroll · 13/07/2021 13:47

**NCwhatsmynameagain

whynotwhatknot

I also thought vardy was taking rooney to court so why blame colleen?

Exactly. Colleen outed a leak that’s all, anyone would have done the same. Rebekah is one who has brought the ridiculous legal case.**

No, most people would just have rolled their eyes and blocked her. They wouldn't take an advert out in the local paper.

EmeraldShamrock · 13/07/2021 13:50

If Rebekah is the sun spy she deserves to be in the position she is.
I don't have any interest for either of them usually. Wannabes. Grin

DrSbaitso · 13/07/2021 13:50

@LobotomisedIceSkatingFan

'Exactly. Colleen outed a leak, that's all.'

Not really. She specifically identified Rebekah Vardy as being the source of the leak.

The courts will decide whether there was indeed a leak; whether Rebekah Vardy was that leak; and whether Rooney was entitled at any rate to identify her in a public forum.

There was definitely a leak, that's not in question. And if Rooney can prove that Vardy personally was that leak, then it's not libellous to state something that is true.

The question is whether Rooney can prove that, since the court has determined that her post did indeed constitute an accusation against Vardy personally and not the team behind her account.

That's why it's so interesting. Justification (truth) is a relatively unusual defence against libel. It can be hard to prove to a court's satisfaction that what you said is definitely true. Fair comment is much more common.

Tendonsandjoints · 13/07/2021 13:51

The whole thing is just ridiculous

I don't think that having someone you consider a friend sell stories about you for financial gain or in exchange for favourable treatment can be at all pleasant. It's a huge betrayal and would make you suspicious of everyone until you found out the source. I think you would be entitled to feel really hurt that someone had broken your trust like that.

And surely the courts would have thrown the case out if there was no basis at all for it wouldn't they?

DrSbaitso · 13/07/2021 13:53

@Maunderingdrunkenly

Vardy is absolute trash. She 100% did it, she’s been an attention seeker from day one.
And we all know that on Mumsnet, there's no greater crime for a woman!

Unless she is also somehow "smug".

Though one could argue that secretly passing stories about someone else to the press isn't attention seeking. If anything, it's deflection...

Thefirsttime · 13/07/2021 13:59

YABU for starting a thread about her when you can’t spell her name correctly. It’s Coleen.

LobotomisedIceSkatingFan · 13/07/2021 14:02

'And if Rooney can prove that Vardy personally was that leak, then it's not libellous to state something that is true.'

I know that. I have a law degree, a masters in Medical Law, and even went to the College of Law in Bloomsbury (albeit many moons ago). But the key part is 'if Rooney can prove' which is my point precisely. If she can satisfy the court of that, they'll decide in her favour. But that's, surely - why they're all there.

And I think satisfying themselves that there was a leak was resolved at the first stage.

This is exactly it. She put information on a page where there were others. You can't trust people blindly. Coleen isn't coming off any more favourable IMO. She chose to handle it publicly and it came across as immature. I didn't know of these leaked stories prior to this. The women who slept with her husband got a lot less.
Frownette · 13/07/2021 14:10

Oh is it Grin

I've never typed her name before today so was unaware and followed the precedent.

Ok so we've got onto biblical names and correct spelling.

EmeraldShamrock · 13/07/2021 14:15

Will the sun have to say where they got the story from?
I thought Coleen brought Rebecca to court.
It was sly, I'd imagine Rebecca is sly.

EmeraldShamrock · 13/07/2021 14:16

Oops spelt Rebekah differently.

Frownette · 13/07/2021 14:17

Rebekah, do keep up

LobotomisedIceSkatingFan · 13/07/2021 14:33

It's quite interesting that people are talking about whether Rooney can be 'blamed' on the basis that she didn't bring proceedings: a few months ago, people were talking about the degree to which Amber Heard was blameworthy - and she wasn't even a party.

Smidgexxx · 13/07/2021 14:36

Drop the second L Coleen.

I am also interested in how I works out. Says by Feb 2022 they'll be back in court. So might be waiting a while.

I can never figure out how these footballers wives must feel. It's definitely died out now as others have said. The women are not made a focus point now. I wouldn't recognize any of them now either.

I can remember the whole Cheryl and Victoria era lol. Victoria took Cheryl under her wing.

@TotorosCatBus

If Rebekah was using stuff from Colleen's private insta so that she could post in in The Sun for the Secret WAG column then I understand why Colleen would be pissed off. I don't know if any extended family have Liverpool ties but I understand why people boycott The Sun.

I think they are both spending an insane amount on lawyers though.

Didn't she and Wayne do a big interview with The S*n several years ago?

Got them quite a bit of criticism at the time, if I remember rightly.

TotorosCatBus · 13/07/2021 14:46

Not followed them that closely but I can understand why they don't want to be associated with The Sun these days.
