I just think the money wasted on this court case with Rebekah vardy.

I know we all have our own opinions. I found the way Colleen dealt with it wrong personally. Rebekah was 7 months pregnant and she wasn't just causing stress to Rebekah but to her children too. She went all public about it and aired her dirty laundry in public whilst being angry about her own privacy.

I just saw an update and one of the things she said was Rebekah was sitting behind her at the 2016 euros to be seen even though it was someone else's seat. What a petty thing to say.

The whole thing is just ridiculous.

I read the early replies that no-one cared a fuck. But later it seems that many really are interested. There's no accounting for taste.

A legal defamation case is not vacuous though nor is personal loyalty. Or it's alleged betrayal. Nor is the issue of the British tabloids potentially paying for scurrilous information and not checking their facts (see Leveson enquiry). Dismiss it as celeb twaddle if you like but this case encapsulates quite a few serious issues.

I've never read any secret WAG stuff. It can't possibly be anything exciting though, can it?

We are studying defamation and I looked up this case and it was shown that Rooney did potentially defame vardey with HER posting. It's now at the stage of wether she has a defence of truth (ie it was vardt herself and not someone using her account)
She is likely to lose that one.

Now separately she cab probably sue vardty for breaching her privacy but that's a different case.

I have not ever followed wags either. Mind you when I was 16ish they were getting more press than the footballers themselves.

Colleen is I'm sure a nice woman. Although if Wayne wasn't so rich I think she wouldn't be with him now based on how many times he's cheated. It's a weird lifestyle to be thrown into.

I just think the money and the time. Upsetting everyone's kids. Embarrassing their husbands. It's all abit over the top. Like someone else said just block. Even private Facebook pages etc are not totally safe.

I find it hard to believe vardy with all her money and busy lifestyle would go on the school run then come home and do that. Why would she want to do something so ridiculous.

I know she's been known to like footballers in the past. I didn't think she came across great in the jungle either. But she seems a pretty normal loving mother and wife.

As for her name being tacky. What a random thing to think. It's a perfectly nice name and spelling. I don't see the need to be nasty for no reason.

Why is it hard to believe? Those who know her all agree it’s probable she did it.

Since this is the thread for people who don't care about Coleen Rooney or Rebekah Vardy, having read all the posts I thought I'd also post here to declare I don't care about them either.

The legal implications are very interesting - Sunday evening showed how quick people are to post on social media with seemingly little thought to the consequences (ie their jobs).

I cannot stand them both and am sick of hearing about this petty story.

I don't know her personally but unless there was some hatred between them why would she. She doesn't need the money. What would she have to gain from telling the sun Colleen's basement flooded.

I can imagine it's horrible that Colleen can't have anything private. But it's the lifestyle and anything she puts online on any account is going to be of some interest to someone! People are always interested in the rich and famous even if they don't care.

If Rebekah is that malicious and did it to be spiteful then hopefully it's proven. But we've all been gossiped about and the only way you can stop that is by keeping off social media completely. Again it comes with the territory.

I didn't know the marriage was being kept for religious reasons. Poor woman!

Why on earth they didn't just slug it out on Jeremy Kyle I'll never know.
Would have been much cheaper.

Depends on the translation a lot of the time.

Many use Rebekah in the OT and Rebecca in the NT. They are both Latinate equivalences. I don't know which is the earlier, but it's Rebekah in the KJV.

In Hebrew is would be Rib'qah (Rivka), I think.

I prefer Rebecca myself but I think it's because that's what I am most used to.

It's senseless money.

We are a family with Jewish origins and my daughter's name is Rebekah. Didn't realise the biblical name we chose was tacky 🤔

If you’ve got enough time to start a thread about someone you don’t know, you might want to spell their name correctly

@Smidgexxx there’s a lot more to be gained than money for selling stories to the press. The more you feed them and keep them “on side” the less inclined they will be to print negative stories about you.
It’s basically blackmail but extremely common and I can imagine there have been a lot of negative stories about RV over the years that has been kept from the press in a deal for something more juicy.
